As I said: You never know with this Mudcats bullpen. AND, this being said, the Mudcats bats have squandered many an opportunity as well. Eeeek.

And, like Reyes, Nova has reverted (late in the season) to "Which Nova will we get tonight?" Muddies failed to send a single run across in their half of the 10th. We have a lead off HBP,  passed ball advancing both runners. And now the game-losing hit surrendered. Ahhhh, yes, this is second half Mudcats baseball I've grown accustomed to. Sigh. And, to think we almost got two consecutive full games of execution!

Ugh. Another gut punch result. Dangit Mudcats.

Needs: score when men are on base

Avoids: bullpen giving up multiple run leads.

See baseball is just that simple.....

2B Luis Urias and CF Brandon Lockridge make their first 2025 appearance for AAA Nashville, who seek a 6th straight win and 2-0 series lead at Norfolk. LHP Robert Gasser threw 5 innings and 78 pitches 5 days ago, but is said to be transitioning to long relief.

Remember: 11 GB. 9 teams in front of the Sounds as they all chase Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Eyes on the Miracle Run.

The AA Shuckers look to grab a 2-0 home series lead over Pensacola, with RHP Brett Wichrowski making his 21st start (3.53 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 6.6 K/9 in 89.1 IP). RF Garrett Spain has 7 homers over his last 18 games.

Well, I'm out in my fields harvesting Cucurbita maxima squash. It's 100F here. Winds are picking up. Wildfire smoke coming in from the West and Southwest. Just absolutely disgusting weather. Hope we get some 'W's tonight.

RHP Ryan Birchard tossed 7 impeccable scoreless, hitless innings last week (1 BB, 8 Ks) and now makes his final start of the 2025 campaign, aiming to lead High-A Wisconsin to a 2-0 series lead at South Bend. SS Jesus Made is 12-for-24 over his last 6 games and RF Kay-Lan Nicasia has homered in 2 straight contests.

Current version of RHP Ryan Birchard is electric. What a beautiful change-up to get a swinging K to end his first frame. Adams with a web gem Willie Mays style catch down the RF line. Heck of a play. T-Rats lead 2-0.

When you see 2B Luis Urias stole home tonight, just know he took home because Raynel Delgado intentionally got himself caught in a double steal run-down. The Tides mishandled the game of pickle and Delgado slid back to 1B safely.

Well, if the goal is for LHP Robert Gasser to stack and build toward a Brewers MLB relief arm, this is easily his best outing to date. He looks fantasticThree consecutive K's. Five consecutive retired. Change-up dialed. Sweeper absolutely dealing. Just a really positive outing from almost every vantage point.

Three hit game for 2B Luis Urias in his return to the Milwaukee org. Just hit a very easy double down to the LF corner on a hanging breaking ball. That's a one out double here in the 8th. 4-0 Sounds. Gasser and Zimmerman pitching a shutout. Tides have only been shutout twice at Home all season long.

It's weird, getting Brucey Z back on track for the Sounds is all sorts of odd settling for this ol' farming coot. 😅 Like a calm low-velo veteran salve for my early September wounds. I didn't know if we'd ever get his 2025 vintage version back after those August hiccups. Here we are through 5 2/3 IP scoreless for his second consecutive really nice outing.

Lara just became the 4th Shucker in team history to steal 40 or more bases in a season swiping his 40th base here in the 6th frame. He also became just the 14th Southern League player since 2005 to steal 40 or more bases with 30 or more XBH's.

Keep in mind he is 20 years old. He also leads the League in walks. Heck of a Double-A debut season!

Delgado playing a nice SS tonight. The Brewers continue to see what he can do. Do not sleep on his eventual 40-Man roster possibility. He's showing out late in the season.
