I don’t really think the situations compare, one is a split second instinct and the other is a 4th down play that you’ve had plenty of time to rehearse in your head as to what the situation is. 

I agree that they probably don’t do anything with it anyway but may have had time for a quick 10 yard sideline route without the few extra seconds from the INT which would have been enough to send McManus out.
