While one Dominican Complex League team was clubbed by a Dodgers squad, the Brewers other island team took care of a Cubs' entry twice, once by blowout and once by walkoff. Nice!

Final: DSL LAD Mega (Dodgers) 17, DSL Brewers Blue 9
Box Score and Game Log

Blue tallied five in the top of the 5th to close a big early deficit to 7-5. There would be no shutdown pitching performance in response as the LA squad immediately answered with a six-spot for a 13-5 lead.

The only thing that's truly impressed about RHP Jordy Brache in his rookie season (game log here) is that he won't turn 17 years old until this Sunday, and that he has a 6'4", 180-pound frame at that age. That log shows three outings in which he's worked three innings and allowed two earned runs, but even seemingly innocuous get-your-work-in outings like those will chew up one's ERA over time. Brache was the pitcher that came out for the bottom of the 5th. and he walked five of the seven men he faced, allowing a grand slam and not escaping the inning, retiring only one batter:

  • Fly out to LF
  • Walk
  • Walk
  • Walk
  • Walk
  • Walk
  • Grand Slam
  • Exit

The other three Brewer hurlers did not exactly shine as your box score review will show.

Six of Blue's 15 hits went for extra bases in this four-hour, eleven-minute slog and the Men in Blue also drew eight walks, so some padding of individual offensive stat pages did take place.

Each Gold twinbill game was seven innings as scheduled - all 15 active roster position players saw action during the course of the day.

Final, Game One: DSL Brewers Gold 11, DSL Cubs Blue 1
Box Score and Game Log

Check out RHP Derlin Garcia's game log, in particular his last five outings (four starts).

Five Golden batters reached base three times, while two others reached twice.

Third baseman Osiris Ramirez, batting cleanup, blasted his 8th home run as the RH batter pulled one to left center, he also singled. Ramirez only turned 17 years old in May, and he became a topic of friendly discussion in our daily forum thread.

Leadoff shortstop Ricki Moneys singled twice and walked, stealing his 22nd base in 26 tries. He would also contribute late to the latter game (as the designated hitter), as you'll see below.

Final, Game Two: DSL Brewers Gold 3, DSL Cubs Blue 2

Walkoff win in the nightcap!

More strong pitching from a duo - first-year RHP Joan Gonzalez and 3rd year RHP 20-year-old Wandy Cabrera. Cabrera needed a solid 2026 after struggling last year, and he's performed well, rewarding the organization's faith.

Rookie infielder Santiago Garcia, playing shortstop here, reached all three times up, two singles and a walk. The 17-year-old has played in 28 of the club's 39 games and has posted a .303/.442/.360 line. As much as we've spotlighted the youngsters having supremely strong DSL offensive seasons, there's another whole layer of contributors primed to build on very solid campaigns in 2027 and beyond, with Garcia a prime example.

Home cooking abounds this week as all four full-season clubs come back to their ballparks to begin new weeklong series. The DSL teams are back in action as well.
