That's what I want to see. If he can carry a high OBP this season, he'll shoot up the prospect boards, IMO.

Ford already has carried a high OBP relative to his BA his first two seasons as a pro. in '05 he walked 33 tmies in 236 ABs, good for a .365 OBP and last year he walked 56 times in 491 ABs, good for a .361 OBP. The problem for him are the Ks (203 during that time).

i think the brewers want darren to cut his swing down a bit...i'm not sure i agree with this assessment, but the crew wnats darren to hit more line drives and grounders and cut back on the flyballs. Even though he projected a good amount of power last season, i believe the brewers would like him to focus on his contact skills...

or at least that what comments from darren make it seem like...can't think of another reason they'd have him repeat (besides the obvious and unstoppable cole gillespie freight train!)

Josh thanks for all the info. I have kind of a personal question so feel free not to answer, but how did you get started? What was your education and how did you get yourself off the ground? Thanks and keep up the great info.

Sam, his bio is on their website.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Beyond the bio, I actually started my baseball life getting autographs from the time I was 9 or 10 years old. In middle school and High school I would go to tons of minor league games. The autographs didnt matter so much but the exposure to the players was invaluable. It was the only forum I could practice talking to athletes in a work setting since I obviously couldnt have learned how to do this in a classroom. The first client I ever signed was back in 2002 and he made it to the big leagues within a year. I figured it was pretty easy after that, and I didnt have another big leaguer for 3 more years. It's a crazy job, and there is a lot of stuff that comes with it that I dont really care for, but the job itself, I love doing more than anything.

Josh,

Thanks for all of the info!

One thing I noticed about your website. The intro continues on and on, and you MUST click "skip intro" to enter the website. This should probably be fixed, where the intro will go through once, and then send you to the website.

Thanks again, Josh. I speak for everyone when I say we greatly appreciate your presence here.

BTW, if you hear where your guys will be placed to start out of the season before they are announced, please let us know. It's one of the most exciting things about spring.

Hi Josh, just out of curiosity, how would you handle a player like Jose Capellan. To my mind his continued trade demands only hurt his chances to return to the majors as the Brewers will not trade him without getting fair return, and I suspect they will be less likely to call up a player who is mad at the organization.

Just to be clear I'm not asking you to comment on Jose, but asking how you as an agent would handle a situation like this.
