Well, I guess Wes O. didn't do too bad tonight.

It was the longest outing by a Brewer reliever this year. Hopefully, they don't waste it.

why not matt wise?

Probably because they were behind. They might need him tomorrow. You'd think Davis would not serve up meat with 2 outs. If he's on the ML team, he should be ready to produce.

Why not Matt Wise? Because then Matt Wise wouldn't be available to pitch when we're up 3-2 in the 8th tomorrow. Our bullpen just isn't deep enough to have really good pitchers for every situation. Davis was one close-call from getting out of that inning (according to Uecker), and Berkman is really freaking good. It wasn't that bad of an idea.

i take your points re: Wise.

but i think it's huge optimism thinking we'll be up 3-2 in the 8th tomorrow against Oswalt. who is on the hill for us? Helling? uh-oh!

Yeah, it's a tough call, Kiwi. Maybe now Wise won't have an opportunity to pitch for 5 days, which would seem like a waste of a good pitcher. I just get frustrated when we don't have Wise available to pitch when we need him most, however. And with Helling starting, maybe we need him to go 2 innings tomorrow.

I admit, when he gave up that homer, Davis's mlb.com gameday photo's facial expression changed--in my eyes--from "I'm not smiling because I'm a tough guy" to "I'm not smiling because I know I won't be in the major leagues next year." I still can't say I blame Yost for going to him in that situation. If Santana was around, we would have had another option.

Astros are saving Lidge for tomorrow. If the Brewers can at least knock Wheeler out of the box and force Lidge in, it could make the difference tomorrow.

I know this is a belated vent, but it's my last post of the night. WHY Kane Davis??? WHY?! We must rid ourselves of the man. He can't pitch! Ok, I'm done. Have a good night, all. We'll get them tomorrow.

Yup. We really could use those 2 runs back now. Lidge starts the 9th if it's 5-3, but this rally does strengthen the Wise argument. My point is just that we can't use Wise and/or Turnbow in every situation, and our next-best options are Lehr and Eveland. That's quite a drop-off.

It's tough to win games when all of your runs and RBIs come from the 7,8, and 9 spots in the order.

How many times in a row now have they been a game under .500 and lost? It seems like 4 or 5 now.
