  1. How can people be mad at Darren Sutton? Are you serious? He is the Diamondback announcer. Why should he not be excited? It was a great comeback and moment in Diamondback history. At the end of the day it really shouldn't matter since we should win our game tonight. Darren Sutton loves Milwaukee. He still comes back every winter to work the UWM games. To me it came across as a friendly jab, I thought it was hilarious. Am I happy the Dbacks won....of course not, but I can appreciate when something special happens. For all of you saying DFA the Dodgers and now hate the Dodgers, wow!!! This is the same team that beat the DBacks the night before, they also scored 5 runs in the top of the inning. We don't need the Dodgers help, we control our own destiny.
  2. Thursday's game will be sold out. Day games in the summer always do well.
  3. Things are usually quiet around here when things are good and we are winning.
  4. Only because Albert Pujols popped up with a runner on second base! The odds on that are not good... At the very very least, Betancourt should not be playing in late innings of close games. The very least Yeah, because Albert is hitting .288 so the chances of him getting a hit are less than 3 out of 10 which is greater than a 70 percent chance to make an out. Seems like pretty good odds to me.
  5. Just curious because just a month ago this board was impossible to read.
  6. Looks like Yuni is turning things around. Might make the difference for helping the team run away with the division. Would love to see all you haters end up having to give him props as the summer goes on! Keep it up Yuni B!
  7. We all know we are going to win this game....what inning is going to be the game changer?
  8. Probably because they didn't want to worry about him running the bases with nobody out. Completely different situation with 2 outs.
  9. I guess there is no chance he is going on the DL....so that is good
  10. I love how when we are winning the threads are about 8 to 9 pages long but when we lose they are always in double digits. Where are all the people who were jumping off the fence after Friday nights game?
  11. Wow.....some of you have just lost your mind. This team is still the best team in the division and the 2nd best team in the NL
  12. What does everyone think? I think they will carry 13 position players and 12 pitchers. C-Lucroy, Nieves IF- Fielder, Weeks, Betancourt, McGhee, Gamel, Counsell OF- Hart, Gomez, Braun, Dickerson, Boggs SP- Greinke, Gallardo, Wolf, Marcum, Narveson RP- Axford, Braddock, Loe, Parra, Hawkins, Saito, James Only question marks for me would be at the back up catcher, Nieves or Kottaras. And the last bullpen spot. Right now I think I give the edge to Justin James.
  13. Hey all, I received my renewal packet also. I currently have a 20 game season plan. I decided to call my account rep after reading some of your posts and he told me I would still be receiving the media guide and have an additional game pre-sale opportunity. He told me that they do not list all of the benefits. They just try to mention some of the more important ones while trying to keep it easy and quick to read. Overall, I’m really glad they realized they needed to keep prices the same. Hope this helps some of you.
  14. The reason the Reds schedule is so easy is because they have 12 games left against us (which equates to 12 games vs. a team 9 games under .500). We are not out of the playoff race by anymeans. Our chances are not great but we still have a realistic chance to get within 3 or 4 games by the end of August. The remaining games in July will determine if we are still alive. There is no way you can call a team who is 8 games back with 12 weeks to play out of it.
  15. Yeah, it's amazing what an easy schedule will do for you. Now the hard part of the schedule starts. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't sniff .500 again this year. Bogut has sucked these last three games. I thought he was gonna be a 16/10 player this year after his start, but he is what he is. I'd look to move him next year if he doesn't stick around MKE and work on his FT's and a 15 footer. Well that didn't take long. 1 week worth of games and you are already wrong. Great win last night.
  16. Why the hate on Michael Redd? We need Michael if we even want to sniff a top 6 spot in the East. I am excited for Michael to come back.
  17. If you look at the 2008 NBA draft, there is maybe 2-3 players who were picked after Alexander that I would rather have. With Anthony Randolph being #1 on that list. And I still think their is no way you draft Brook Lopez when you have Andrew Bogut. Their games would not mesh, and that is so unreasonable to compare them to Duncan and Robinson. The only time you take the best available player in my opinion is when you are drafting in the top couple of picks. Joe Alexander is what, 20 years old? Still too early to call him a bust. 1. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/chi_25.gif Chicago Derrick Rose 6-3 196 PG Memphis Fr. 31. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/min_25.gif *Minnesota Nikola Pekovic 6-11 243 PF Serbia 1986 2. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/mia_25.gif Miami Michael Beasley 6-8 239 SF K.St. Fr. 32. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/sea_25.gif Seattle Walter Sharpe 6-9 235 PF UAB So. 3. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/min_25.gif Minnesota OJ Mayo 6-4 200 SG USC Fr. 33. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/por_25.gif *Portland Joey Dorsey 6-7 265 PF/C Memphis Sr. 4. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/sea_25.gif Seattle Russell Westbrook 6-3 192 PG UCLA So. 34. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/min_25.gif Minnesota Mario Chalmers 6-2 181 PG Kansas Jr. 5. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/mem_25.gif Memphis Kevin Love 6-9 255 PF UCLA Fr. 35. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/lac_25.gif LA Clippers DeAndre Jordan 6-11 250 C TX A&M Fr. 6. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/nyk_25.gif New York Danilo Gallinari 6-9 220 SF Italy 1988 36. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/por_25.gif *Portland Omer Asik 7-0 220 PF/C Turkey 1986 7. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/lac_25.gif LA Clippers Eric Gordon 6-3 222 SG Indiana Fr. 37. http://www.nbadraft.net/images/smnbateams/mil_25.gif Milwaukee L.R. 18. Why would they draft Lopez when they already had Bogut? Alexander was the right pick for what the team needed. It just hasn't worked out so far.
  19. Great points AKA Pete and TL Brew. That has been the most frustrating thing for me lately. Everybody wants management to do more but nobody has any specific ideas. We over value what many think are our main trading pieces and every single team is looking for good young pitching. So if every team is looking for the same thing, why would someone offer up their pitching to take JJ Hardy or Cory Hart off of our hands. Matt Gamel and Escobar might be top prospects but they are not going to land us that difference maker. Look what Toronto wanted for Holliday and look what Philly have to give up to get Lee. We got very lucky to get CC last year and part of this was because they knew CC was not going to sign with the Indians this year. For those who think if we would have offered CC the same amount of money that the Yankees did or even more he would have signed with the Brewers. I strongly disagree. Again, until 1 marquee free agent signs with the Brewers, why would anybody expect anything different? To me its not having a negative attitude or being complacent...it is just being realistic. I am so happy to be a Brewer fan and I am so happy to actually see this team relevant. The way we have built this team, we are always going to have a chance to make the playoffs. If we have injuries and players under perform like this year then what you see now is what we are going to get. But heading into 2010 I think many people in baseball will think this team has a chance to win the division. The days of winning 60-70 games are long gone. I keep seeing Tampa Bay keep popping up in this thread. I think you will see the Milwaukee Brewers in the playoffs sooner than the Rays. I'm not saying we are as good as the Rays but taking into account the league and divisions we play in I will take our situation any year over theirs. On a side note, isn't it crazy that in the last 11 years, the National League has 10 different representatives in the World Series. Philadelphia, Atlanta, New York, Florida, St. Louis, Houston, San Diego, San Fransisco, Arizona and Colorado, with St. Louis the only team representing the NL twice. That leaves LA, Washington, Cincinatti, Pittsburg, Chicago and Milwaukee.
  20. This has been bothering me for a while whether it is talking to my friends about the Brewers or reading posts on this site. A lot of negative things have been said about Doug Melvin and his approach to improving this team. Many people think he is just sitting on his hands waiting to see what happens and not putting much effort into improving this team, especially the pitching. The point of this thread is not to say that I like or dislike Melvin....the point is, I think fans have unrealistic expectations for who we can get and how we can get them, as much as that might hurt to hear. No free agent in their prime is going to sign with the Brewers. Anybody hoping we are going to make a splash next year in the free agent market....I think you are going to be disappointed. It has never happened before, why would it happen now? If it was that easy, don't you think Melvin or any other GM the Brewers have had would have landed somebody by now. The only free agents we are going to sign are going to be guys looking for a 1 year deal to then get a better offer later or players at the end of their careers and we show them more love than other teams and maybe have to bid a little higher to lure them in. Milwaukee is not an attractive place for free agents to come and I don't think that will ever change. The only other way to improve the club immediatly is by trades but again....if it was that easy don't you think Melvin would have done something other then what he did this year? The guys people want to trade are all players how don't have a lot of value. Everyone talks about selling high....what are some examples of great GM's who sold high on players and ended up making the right decision? We would have to give up a lot of young talent to truly recieve a difference maker. And how many fans would be happy with that. It's almost like the CC trade was bad for the fanbase in a way because it gives fans reasons to think that the Brewers could and should pull off a trade like that every summer. I think we should all be very happy with what we have and the direction this franchise is heading. We are having a terrible season in many peoples minds but yet we are only 2 games under .500 and 8 games back in the wild card with 5 weeks to go. The only realistic way this team has a chance to continue down the path we are going (which is consistenly being a respectable franchise and relivant) is to hope our young talent continues to develop and we get a couple of veterans near the end of their careers who are going to contribute and when the time is right and the resources are available we make that big splash and land someone during the summer. To me Melvin has done a good job up to now and if people want to get rid of him....the grass isn't always greener on the other side. It would be a huge gamble to let someone with his success leave an organization that desperately needed him.
  21. I think the majority of you guys are under valuing Delfino. He should recieve significant minutes. He is better than Charlie Bell and I would be pretty dissapointed if Meeks recieved more minutes than him.
  22. This is a great move! Other than Redd, this team was lacking a true shooter and that is exactly what we got. We have plenty of depth at the power forward position especially with the Warrick signing. This deal makes a ton of sense to me.
  23. I think we are in it too but look at the Cardinals schedule here the next couple of weeks. I know we have to jump a ton of teams in the wild card but I like our chances of winning the wild card more than the division right now. However, we do have 9 games left against the Cardinals so if we can go 7-2 in those games then I like our chances. 6 games out of the division and 6 games out of the wild card with 8 weeks left in the season. Gain a game a week.
