I don't think it was a bad idea, Joe... he probably saw Vinny "53 years old" Castilla playing back at third and thought he could beat out a hit. Castilla is still mighty good at defense, though, and he made a great play.

 

Also:

 

- Carlos' day off lasted all of two innings. Magruder's elbow must be bothering him... he got nailed right on the funny/crazy bone and it looked like he was in some pain.

 

- I don't think anyone mentioned this but JP is going solo today as Bob Uecker had to leave after the first to be with his family after a relative passed away. Best wishes to him - he sounded pretty emotional handing it over to Jim before he left.

I'm just watching the gamecast so I can't see what happened but the Crew scores in the first, Drese plunks McGruder, the Crew scores in the 3rd, Drese plunks Jenkins. Did he get warned?

I just noticed that, except Moeller, everyone in this lineup has an OPS over .800. Swap in Miller, and that's borderline-respectable!
