That's true, but I'm going to guess the huge drop off would be why a player wouldn't always sign it. I'm guessing a player would wonder why they're worth $20 million one hear and half that the next. If you're willing to give $20 million in the first few years, they'd want $20 million + in future years -- at least it seems that way in today's free agent market.

When is the last time Scott Boras gave up any free agent years for a client prior to his arby years? I don't think he does it. And I think Prince would be one of the last clients he would do it with.
