  1. I just want to follow up on Dave Weiser's rant about Weeks and Fielder (See Yesterdays game links). I walked out on todays game because of something similar. Losing 7-1, Weeks & Fielder messed up a routine pop up foul ball between them. They then stood for a couple of minutes and laughed it up in front of the fans. Apparently messing up a chance for an out is just the funniest thing ever and they don't mind the fans knowing they think that way! Ricky is probably too concerned about his press conference tomorrow to announce his new shoe deal, to worry about silly things like fielding and fans. We keep hearing that Reid is big on character. Kremblas obviously has no control over these guys, so perhaps its time for senior management to practice what it preaches and shake things up a little at Huntsville. Scoring this game as 1 error to us was absolutely unbelievable. Both Weeks,Gwynn and Alverado all had clear cut errors and that isn't counting quite a few that you could rule either way. The official scorer is the only guy having a worse game than most of the team!
  2. Bet the Angels fans feel crap, but at least its not so late there. Bennet might be my new hero - and having seen Spivey I think Weeks probably can play 2B in the majors http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif 'Goodnight All
  3. You guys don't know what real suffering is - I once had to watch the Stars lose in 19 to the Lookouts. Their last 6 innings were pitched by their first baseman (Tom Nevers) and Hart, Hardy , Krynzel & co. couldn't touch him. And we had to watch standing there in our bare feet, with nothing to eat except cold hot dogs and warm beer. Bet that makes you all feel better http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. PHEW!!!!!!!!!! I have tickets for the Huntsville game that starts at 12.05 tomorrow - Am I allowed to leave to attend it or am I chained to my computer until this is over? In the minors we don't allow an innings to start after 1.00am - much more civilized!
  5. I don't know why I'm watching this - but I'm becoming a big Bennet fan! Bet you wish you had Jason Belcher to pinch hit for Clark this inning!
  6. 750-775 is pretty good for a catcher though and they haven't even tried him there yet. Perhaps if Kade gets taken on waivers we'll see Corey back at Huntsville behind the plate. I'm pretty certain that they aren't going to make him pitch instead of Bausher, but in this set-up who knows!!!!
  7. Kade wasn't in uniform, he was sitting in the third base box seats watching the game.. David Weiser said that the waiver business wasn't over until Wednesday, so I'm presuming/hoping that he is still with us. It was a great finish nailbiting all the way. Ozzie was 0-2 before he walked. Rickie should have been out - but they were slow and he was fast. Prince's hit was a broken bat bloop - not the GIDP we were all half expecting. Ryan's hit was a total miscue after a messed up squeeeze play everyone knew was coming on the first pitch. The great thing about it was that they 'willed' their way to the win - it wasn't pretty, but it worked.
  8. "I might have thought it was funny...then I turned 8." Is this the same Al who lists Weekend at Bernie's as a favorite movie? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  9. "until Kade Johnson's waiver situation is cleared up, Joel Alvarado is the team's lone catcher..." What's happening with Kade? Could someone post a link to the appropriate info please?
  10. I know if I vent too much, I'll be patronised by the al knowing one, but I just have to share the highlight that summed the Huntsville game up! In the 6th inning Encarnacion of the Lookouts (who had already homered in this inning) was standing on first, a ground ball was hit towards Chavez at shortstop. Encarnacion started off from first to second at a brisk walk in a charitable effort to gift the Stars their third out and put a temporary halt to the carnage. Chavez & Weeks reacted so slowly that Encarnacion had to actually stop between the bases and WAIT for them to get their act together and make the out. At that point I left- even the promise of fireworks coudn't keep me there. This years Pulitzer Prize for fiction goes to the official scorer who kept the error count to 5.
  11. Talking of Weeks does anyone know if he is injured? He was taken out of last night's game and didn't appear tonight. Johnny & Ozzie were a positive delight to watch in the field after being used to the Rickie & 'Rique show. It was great to see Kade have a good night and his two doubles were very close to being two homers. The biggest irony of the evening was the 'unearned run' a wild pitch and an error by Sarfate!
  12. Sorry the yessss was in delight at us winning 3-2 , not in answer to your Prince question! (though he is)
  13. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. 3-2 to the good guys going into the bottom of the 14th
  15. A Chavez solo homer in his first game , batting at 9 - can it get any weirder?
  16. yep http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif going into 14th - how long is it gonna take - at least the top of our order is due !
  17. Birmingham had the bases loaded with no outs, bottom of the 12th in a 2-2 ball game. But we got out of it - going into 13th now
  18. Stars win 13-7. Jason Belcher has a great night & Jason Shelley pitches the last 3 innings to close it out.
  19. Lost 0-7. Prince got a hit ! Saenz perhaps confirming that the Brewers were right to take Ben up. His trip to the show hasn't helped him here he gave up 5 ER in 6 innings (though apparently 2 of them might have been counted as errors on bunts)
  20. The radio just confirmed 7.00pm CST start (that's what the Atars' schedule says too)
  21. they never came back out 3-6 was final score.
  22. We lost 5-4 in a game that was only close because they were nearly as bad as we were. He turned to Pete Zamora as a closer, don't know when he arrived. It looked like Novinsky was being warmed up in case we tied the game - so he might be being considered for closer duties too. Tony Gwynn jnr had a big night (3-4 I think) with a couple of really nice defensive plays. Sarfate was lucky to get out as lightly as he did. They insisted on trying to run when all they had to do was stand and wait - giving us a few extra outs. He badly needs another pitch.
  23. I hadn't been entirely convinced by Weeks - until tonight! He really did look something very very special!
  24. Anyone who thinks that they're deliberately throwing at Weeks is badly in need of medication and a darkened room! Their rationale with Prince in the line up would be - what??????????? Lets throw at the guy wearing the body armor and then pitch to the guy with the much higher average and better slugging ability that comes behind him!!!!!!!!!!! Some people are so in love with the thought of deliberately hitting batters that they refuse to engage their brains. RICKIE LEANS INTO PITCHES -RICKIE HAS NOT BEEN HURT! The only action the umps should really take is to refuse to give him his walk on the grounds that he isn't trying to avoid being hit (or am I mistaken in my rule interpretation there?)
  25. Whats up with Rickie getting hit so much. Has anyone seen some of these games this year? OR heard announcers talk about it? Maybe something should be said to the league because thats dangerous to get hit so much. I've seen him get hit on quite a few of the occasions.I don't think its a league or pitcher problem. It seems to be part of his technique and a fine way to pad his OBP. Most of the hits I've seen him take have either brushed his shirt or glanced off his body armor. I have yet to see him actually caused pain. The strange thing is he doesn't crowd the plate as much as a lot of batters do, he just seems to be able to pick out the one he can safely lean into. My only worry is that I'm not sure its a technique that will transfer effectively to the Majors.
