  1. The Professional Baseball Umpire Corporation (PBUC) released its official rules for dealing with ambidextrous pitchers on Wednesday. These guidelines were reached after PBUC staff consulted with a variety of sources, including the Major League Baseball Rules Committee. Here's how it reads: * The pitcher must visually indicate to the umpire, batter and runner(s) which way he will begin pitching to the batter. Engaging the rubber with the glove on a particular hand is considered a definitive commitment to which arm he will throw with. The batter will then choose which side of the plate he will bat from. * The pitcher must throw one pitch to the batter before any "switch" by either player is allowed. * After one pitch is thrown, the pitcher and batter may each change positions one time per at-bat. For example, if the pitcher changes from right-handed to left-handed and the batter then changes batter's boxes, each player must remain that way for the duration of that at-bat (unless the offensive team substitutes a pinch hitter, and then each player may again "switch" one time). * Any switch (by either the pitcher or the batter) must be clearly indicated to the umpire. There will be no warm-up pitches during the change of arms. * If an injury occurs the pitcher may change arms but not use that arm again during the remainder of the game.
  2. I'm sorry I thought I made it clear in my post, but I wasn't talking about the concept but the characters 3, T, and O together. It wasn't until bf.net that I started typing 3TO (previously I would type TTO.) Anywho, it's a dumb question so we can drop it but it is cool that Branyan page pops up first. Yea Brewers!
  3. Brawndo the Thirst Mutilator has quality posts, but I guess he has to with that name. hawing, re:Kendall Now everytime I see Kendall, I sing outloud "hey, hey, hey, hey!" I blame you. I just saw "Gonzo," the docu on Hunter Thompson by Alex Gibney. It was great, definitely best doc on HST I've seen. Then again, he's my favorite writer, so I was bound to love it.
  4. Heh. I watched this happen, and on the same day I watched a Yankee catcher also take one in the same area, and wondered outloud to my bf why they were so hurt if they were wearing a cup. He gave me a pained look in response. I guess it's one of those things that a person with ovaries will never (thankfully ever) understand.
  5. I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but is "3TO" a nickname specific to Branyan? Not the "Three True Outcomes" concept, but those characters together. I ask because I have a habit of when wanting to look something up on wikipedia, I'll just go to my homepage (google) type in the topic and "wikipedia," and then hit the lucky button. The other day I wanted to look up the origins of the three true outcomes and when I put "3TO" and "wikipedia" in google, the first page was...Branyan. It made me smile.
  6. Does anyone else think Jason Kendall looks like a dog? Seriously, everytime I see him, I just picture him barking. So unfortunate looking, but that's okay.
  7. A Yankee beat writer asked an ump about this, and in short there is no rule. Here's the link to the convo.
  8. I was looking something up on Branyan today and came across this. I had no idea there was a Star Wars wikipedia. Thought I'd pass it along since I think there are a few Star Wars fans here.
  9. Here's a piece from the NY Times baseball weblog. It's nice to see a Brewer getting some recognition in another market.
  10. If there is any reason not to read this message board, or any team message board really, it's because of those "OMG OMG WWJD THE BREWERS LOST A GAME THE SEASON IS OOOOOOVER! BOOOOOOOO! DFA FIELDER" posts that the highs & lows of a season seem to create. **I understand why my post was edited, (and I have no problem with that even though when I respond to a comment in a post I prefer to quote the whole post so that's it's not taken out of context) but why delete the part I purposely bolded?
  11. If this is the first time the Brewers heard that Hall was this upset, it's disappointing, from Hall. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for him, and therefore will give him the benefit of the doubt. However, obviously, he's not helping the team against righties. I would hope Hall sees this, but I don't know what went on behind the scenes so I wouldn't feel comfortable criticizing him on this issue yet.
  12. Does anyone know if Hall went to Melvin and Yost, behind closed doors, and expressed his concerns?
  13. Does field level mean like the Benz seats?
  14. can someone please give the family friendly version of Riske's thoughts as he exited? please be creative. thank you. Paraphrase: 'You've got to be freally kidding me.'
  15. Prince Fielder's fast is not better than your fast.
  16. So Yost manages to get Gagne paid more? Why pull Riske there? (did anyone else catch Riske's thoughts on this -- as he walked off the mound?) http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif EDIT: Wouldn't it not be a save situation until another run is scored? The man on-deck can tie the game, does that matter?
  17. Sheets must be in so much pain he's holding back the tears I sure hope that was supposed to be blue
  18. Has the FSN WI broadcast had anything more than "triceps strain" or whatever? (Sheets) Watching FSN-Reds... Thom Brenneman is a good, good pbp guy.
  19. I am a Yankee fan and I did a dance of joy when Torre left. I won't go into detail now why I wanted him gone, but off the top of my head he was a terrible in-game manager, he couldn't manage the bullpen, and he favored veterans over better players. You just never knew what he was going to do: letting Weaver pitch in the 03WS, not bunting on Schilling in 04, batting ARod 8th, pulling Giambi in the close games, the Joba bug thing last year, etc. And don't get me started on how $5mil and options was not enough to come back. I hear the criticisms on Girardi, but I appreciate how hands-on he is with all aspects of the club and he never looks like he's going to nap during a game. He evens keeps a BP book in his office!
  20. http://sports.aol.com/mlb/story/_a/a-300-million-juggernaut/20080403024909990001 Thought it was an interesting article, especially the part about how the Yankees will be exempt from revenue sharing because of they're paying for new stadium. I was also wondering what people thought this might mean for smaller marker teams.
  21. Does anyone know where I can find this? I'd be willing to pay for someone to ship it out to me. Any info is appreciated. (Should this be in the trade forum? If so, sorry.)
  22. Pat Jordan wrote a great piece about Canseco yesterday. I didn't see it posted on bf.net, so I thought I'd pass it along.
  23. Wow, this is great. I hope he stays with it. Go vegetarians!!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ETA: Because evidently I can't spell when I'm suffering from a bad head cold.
