  1. I started a similiar thread about a year ago: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=2620 Here's my response after I jumped: I posted on here about a month ago that I would be going skydiving. (The thread dropped off.) Well I went and it was unbelievable. I encourage everyone to do it, no matter how much you are scared of heights. Simply terrifying, and I loved every second. I went through AtmosphAir, in Ft. Atkinson. The training went by pretty quickly, probably a 1/2 hour. I got a dvd with my package, and if anyone decides to do this, please get the dvd - it's great (the cost was $80). They got me suiting up, in the plane, and jumping out/landing (the camera was on my tandem partner's wrist). Five of us crammed in this little plane, and off we went to 12,500 ft. When we were half way up, I saw the clouds at my level and that's when I started to get scared. I then had to sit on my ankles so my partner and I could link up. The door opened and the first coupld zoomed out. It's not like the movies where if the door opens you'll just be sucked out. We then moved over to the edge of the door. It was much cooler and I was simply terrified just seeing clouds and barely the earth. I then had to put my leg on the wing and grab my shoulder straps. My leg, btw, was swinging in the air, but I did get it steady. We then fell out, and what a rush! Freefall was 1 minute, and then we glided down 5 minutes or so. The tandem partner also let me steer the parachute! The landing was great, we definitely came in quicker then I expected. And people are right when they say you'll never look the same way at the sky. My opinion doesn't change. It was awesome, and I can't wait until I do it again. And spend the money to get it taped!
  2. Then isn't it like the chicken or the egg dilemma? I guess it doesn't matter because the bottom line is that men are weak, so I'm fine taking crazy. This begs the question: If it's in my nature to be crazy, how would one describe my hormonal rollercoaster when I'm PMSing?
  3. Why do you say Posada won't be about to catch much next season? He had surgery today, and with the six month minimum, he'll be able to start the season. Unless you're assuming that even with the surgery, he's no better than a part time catcher/dh. I would disagree with that, and Posada has said time and time again that he's a catcher and wants to end his career as one. If (for Yankee fans sake, when) he changes position, it probably won't be until the end of his contract, late 2010 and 2011.
  4. I would like to go on record and say I loved Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet. I haven't watched it since high school, but I'm sure it holds up.
  5. I'll have to disagree with you FtJ. My man is perfect, but from talking to girl and guy friends, it seems that guys have become the "kitty-cat" of the man-woman relationship. And that is definitely a shade of crazy and not because a girl dumped you. The best part of being single: dating! I would flirt with any cute boy that would walk by me when I was single. Just enjoy it, and it's true, you'll meet someone when you least expect it. I met my current boyfriend in a sports bar. I was there, by myself, to watch the Yankee game, him Brewers, and we just started chatting.
  6. True story: I once went on a blind date with a guy who took me to McDonalds AND made me pay for my meal. I don't like the bowling/ mini golfing ideas, only because for a first date it seems like you're trying too much to make it a fun-first-date. Honestly, I was asked to go bowling for a first date once, I had to bite my finger from laughing. It's cute, definitely, but my preference would be to get appetizers and drinks, and then walk around and go from there. I prefer the getting to know you than activity thing. Then again, you said you've chatted with the girl, so maybe a more structured date is the way to girl. I love SenatorShriv/Nader Raider Tim and GAME05 ideas.
  7. Oh, that's sad about 3TO. I don't really care about what a player does off the field, as long as it doesn't affect his play, but I can't say I *heart* him as much anymore.
  8. I don't see the need to call brewerguy71 a troll just because he posted an unpopular opinion. He wasn't condecending or trying to instigate, at least in my opinion, just trying to add to the discussion. What a great way to welcome new members! ETA: I can understand the distaste for Braun showing emotion, although it doesn't really bother me. I grew up watching stoic ballplayers and would criticize younger players who would show any significant emotion, so when my team then had one of those players I felt hypocritical. But as long as it doesn't cost runs, I can't complain.
  9. I never though Maggic Gyllenhaal was unattractive, altough she kinda resembled Miss Piggy in Sherrybaby. But my goodness, some scenes in the Dark Knight she looked like her face was hit with a shovel.
  10. I agree with your post aracko, but look on the bright side, at least he didn't go crazy like Yankee broadcaster Michael Kay.

  16. Regarding Washington winning his leading Oscar because he was black, I don't know why you're basing that on acceptance speeches. In my opinion Crowe or Penn didn't deserve it and one could make a similiar argument (that Ledger will be nominated because he died) that they were only nominated becuase they played crazy. (A la women later on only being nominated because they played ugly.) I'm one of those people that think that, at the least, Ledger deserves a nomination based on a stellar performance. He captivated me, and I can't see how I could ever see the Joker performed differently again. After I saw the film, I worried out loud to my boyfriend that I hope the fact that he died wouldn't cloud his praise for the film. (From the public, not the Acadmey. Obvsiouly they love their sob stories.) I was obviously right, and it's a real shame. ETA: Spoiler [+] I don't know if this is a spoiler, but I just wanted to add that I know I'm in the minority, but I loved how they did Two-Face. Sure it probably wasn't that realistic, but I loved the look.
  17. Right on! I started posting (mostly reading) here when I started dating my boyfriend, who is a life-long Brewers fan. I was referred here from another team message board. (I grew up a Yankee fan. Don't hate!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif) I thought I was so lucky to find such a great board, now maybe not so much. Only because it was a year later I introduced my boyfriend to bf.net by chance and now he's kinda obsessed.
  18. Ouch. That was like a right to the gut. Some of us are that much of a dork. It doesn't hurt that Street Fighter 4 is coming out by the end of the year....but I still would have known the characters without looking them up. LOL! To be honest, I'm a stoner so I'm not supposed to remember things. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Actually the first time I played Street Fighter at this bar I remembered to pick those two because of their special moves. I always have/had so much success with Honda and his arm thing.
  19. This might have been posted in here already, but the Drunk-O-Vision on college humor is great. I think there's 5 or 6 parts, and some had me laughing out loud, esp. the last one in part 3 since it's so my boyfriend.
  20. I LOVE the original Mario. There's a bar in my city where you can play a lot of vintage games and pinball. If you're nice, they'll let you play Mario at the bar. There's also my other fave's Tyson's Punch Out, Paperboy (Has anyone ever driven through Baltimore? I used to say it was like playing a game of paperboy.), Street Fighter (I used to pick Ryu or Honda a lot. Yes, I had to look their names up. I'm not that much of a dork.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif), and Donkey Kong, which I played right after I watched King of Kong. I also love playing the Ninja Turtle and Simpson game there. They were fun at home, but drunk friends+TMNT arcade = awesomeness.
  21. I wanted to share this post from a Yankee beat writer with Brewers fans. He posted the odds from bodog.com on several categories, including the chances of a team winning the World Series, NL Pennant, and NL MVP and Cy Young. Take it for what it's worth, but I thought it was cool to see where the Brewers ranked. (BTW, it was before the Brewers won and Cubs lost tonight.) ETA: Check out who was ranked last in the NL MVP section. LOL! Why was he even included?
  22. This is simply an agent overprotecting the interests of his player. In reality, there isn't anything wrong with that, but in this case, the agent is going so far as to question the Twins' ability to put the right players on the major-league roster. And he's accusing a team that's won this division more than once in recent years of putting money ahead of having the best possible team. Well you didn't burst my bubble, but thanks for the information. I think I just sympathize with Liriano. Obviously he has the talent to be on the major league roster, but the team's doing what's best for the team, now and for the long run. We might disagree with their strategy, which I do, but I can't knock MIN for their agenda, just like I can't knock Liriano for his either.
  23. I know Liriano wasn't pitching well in the beginning of the year, but it seems to me another case of an organization holding back a player to minimalize service time and save money. It's the org's agenda to do what's best for them in the long term (which I would hope would be all clubs) but this seems it should be against some agreement so I don't blame Liriano for being upset.
  24. I had to bump this thread beacuse I wanted to vent about how my boyfriend has poisoned my mind. Just now in a thread, the one about Watchmen, after I said I was waiting for RobertR to post, I typed "The circle is now complete." My insane boyfriend has made me watch Star Wars so much (and I aleady liked the films!) that I'm starting to quote random lines all over the place. *sigh*
  25. I was waiting for you to post RobertR! I haven't read, only marginally familiar with the series, but...I thought the trailer looked fun so I'm excited.
