  1. Yes and no. Someone a while back found a DM quote that essentially said that Ron has a lot of input in to the players he has on the 25 man. He mentioned that Doug makes the trades yes, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Ron had influence over calling players up/sending them down.
  2. Which one? The one where Gamel had bad results so he didn't do well or the one where because Gamel didn't have good results neither will a almost completely unrelated player.Haha Yes...
  3. Because X did Y, Z will do Y. Can anyone point out the logical fallacy our manager is making? Yeesh, I wish Doug would just make it easy on him and say Green is coming up Casey is going down. Deal with it.
  4. I had to look up who the Ham Fighters are. Well played sir.
  5. Every day I come check BF expecting to see at the top of the Forum a headline proclaiming McGehee sent down and Green up. I don't know why I still do it. .312 .390 .532 is Green's slash line today. It is absolutely mind boggling that this has not happened yet. It would be one thing if McGehee was Mike Schmidt with the glove, but he has been awful on that side of the field as well. I know that we nitpick everything here, but sticking with McGehee defies logic right now. He has options, send him down and let him figure it out without the pressure of a team that is "going for it." If Green fails at the same epic level that McGehee has thus far offensively at least we have better defense.
  6. It's amazing how much better this lineup looks with Braun in it. If Casey was the 09-10 version of himself I'm not sure there would be much to complain about LOL
  7. Craig Counsell has an OPS under .500 and for the month of July (in only 18 AB's) it is .048 I'm sorry Craiger, but you need to gracefully remove yourself from this roster.
  8. When Ax is locating with his off speed stuff he is close to unhittable.
  9. My thoughts exactlyAlso... Is Lucroy even a good bunter? I never remember him being very good. At least you can count on Counsell to get the sac down.
  10. Is someone warming up? This is the 8th hitter to bat. How long does it take to see that he is getting killed tonight?
  11. I don't like to hear that. Can't watch the game so I didn't see it first hand.
  12. They interviewed him at the ASG and he said he anticipated playing today. I haven't heard otherwise so I expect him to be on the lineup card.
  13. http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2010/5/11/1465549/inspired-by-ross-barnes-best-war I just did a quick google search for this. I am sure there are better tables, but this ranks position players with most WAR's per 700 PA's. So this takes out the guy who was slightly above average for a long time and focuses on those that provided the most wins per ~ 1.5 seasons IE: you get a better idea of someone who consistently has a high WAR value each season. For instance in regards to one of your examples: Scott Rolen doesn't even sniff the top 25, but Jackie Robinson is #15.
  14. If KRod pitches lights out with the Brewers, there is no way that Boras lets him accept arbitration. It may be a risk, but its a calculated one and one that should pay off. There is always someone out there willing to give closers a deal. He might not get the blockbuster deal, but if he pitches well he will almost certainly be able to find something better than an arby deal. Unless of course he pitches poorly, but then he would be Type B anyways and you probably don't offer him arby.
  15. Not that I have a lot of faith in anything the "analysts" of ESPN, Kurkjian was just on and said the prospects on the list "were not significant players." Further evidence to confirm what we have thought.
  16. Apparently fans threw water at their car when Prince and his family rode in to the ASG. What a bunch of losers. Boo all you want, call him names etc. But throwing stuff at his family, including young sons? Get a life. http://sports.yahoo.com/m...lder_all_star_mvp_071311
  17. Yea I saw that too. K-Rod has a BABIP of .342 so he may just be getting a little unlucky. His K/9 is still at almost 10 and his BB/9 is a little below his career average. I don't know a ton about the Mets defense, but an OF of Pagan, Murphy and Bay can't be that great defensively. I know the Brewers have some warts to, but maybe some of this is due to the defense behind him.
  18. no. This is not a video game and you can't just slot players in wherever. Weeks has played 2nd for a long time and moving him to SS would mess with a lot of things. Your footwork is different, especially when turning a DP. This would be awful. Besides, Weeks has finally become a serviceable 2nd baseman, the last thing we would want to do is move him to a more challenging defensive position.
  19. The thought is that if the Mets demoted him to a set up role to avoid the option for next year the players union would flip. If that's the case, you basically have to trade him. Additionally that escalator will scare off teams that are looking for a closer, significantly decreasing the demand in the market for K-Rod. This is why the Brewers were able to get him for what appears to be peanuts. The Mets needed to trade him and trading him for anything would be a win.
  20. Wow. This is a hell of a trade depending on who we gave up for K-Rod. The "additions" of Saito and K-Rod make the 7th - 9th legit for us and with our starters hopefully being able to go consistently 6 I am very pleased. Now just bring in someone who can post a .650 OPS/play solid defensive SS and promote Taylor Green and we are set. This really helps anchor what was an average pen into an above average one.
