I love 'Rillo. Mainly because he isn't out there preaching the company line. He doesn't really have a radio voice and isn't polished at all, but I really enjoy hearing his take on things.
I'll get the pissing and moaning started. I know Morgan and Kotsay suck against lefties but I would rather have either in LF with Wilson getting the start at SS
Marcum and Cueto battled without their best stuff. Both teams scored early and didn't take advantage of opportunities for big innings (bases loaded multiple times on both sides).Corey Hart gets picked off of 1st when he wasn't even stealing because he was drunk.
Good thing Lucroy's Slugging is over 100 points higher.Kotsay .353 - Lucroy .418 ... over 100 points? I'm not suggesting anything other than Kotsay has put together a real nice week. That's it. Braun has been out and Kotsay, offensively at least, has picked up the slack. Whoops. Not sure what I was looking at. Totally misread their stat lines.
I'm piling on. Sure he is a nice guy and its a nice story, but good lord McGehee flat out is not good at baseball this year. A liability defensively and offensively and slow as molasses. We need to get this guy replaced with Taylor ASAP.
Who else should be put in the 5 spot today? Betancourt? McGehee? Lucroy? All 3 have their various flaws, why not just go with the hot bat? Lucroy should be hitting there. Riding the "hot hand" and using your gut to manage is not the best approach IMO. He should be putting his best hitters in there instead of using a minuscule sample size to determine where he bats guys.
Weeks 4 Morgan 8 Hart 9 Fielder 3 Kotsay 7 McGehee 5 Betancourt 6 Lucroy 2 Marcum 1 Just when I think Ron is getting smart he throws Kotsay back in the 5 hole. Though I suppose it is to be expected now and given that he won't move Lucroy out of the 8 hole and they won't bring up Green this is about as good as we could have hoped for
I haven't looked at them in any depth, but it seems as though their pitching is playing well bove their heads right now. If that's the case I am assuming that evens itself out and they drop out of contention but still finish respectably. The team seems to have made great strides and has a young exciting core. I'll echo the sentiments though that I am not happy for them and wouldn't root for any team until the Brewers are out of contention. I'd prefer if everyone in the division was heads and shoulders below the Brewers.
I am stunned. Based on a vow I just made in the chat room, I now have to buy a Kotsay tee. Well, thanks, Mark. How about if we sweep the Reds you have to wear it to every game you attend this year? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
That pitch was a 3 run homer a few weeks ago. Hope Prince heats up again after the break. He's got an OPS of 1.031 in the last 7 days. I think he's hitting just fine lately.
