  1. He's got two hits in a Spring Training game. Let's not get carried away. Yes it is nice to see though.
  2. I get the MLB media player but nothing is coming out of it
  3. Jamie - Is there sufficient interest to start another team? I have four guys plus myself who are interested in playing. Also when does the league start playing games? Thanks.
  4. Stars: Set Yourself on Fire Awesome indie pop music out of Canada. The Lawrence Arms: Oh Calcutta Missed this when it first came out and now I can't stop listening to it. Goodd gritty Chicago punk rock.
  5. Huh?? Jenkins is gone after this year and probably before Spring Training this year so I don't understand how he is more in the long term plans of the Brewers than Gross is. Also if we are talking long term moving Bill Hall back to 3B doesn't make a whole lot of sense, seeing as we have this guy named Braun tearing through the system (unless you are talking about moving BRaun to the outfield). Gross is identical to Jenkins, much cheaper and under our control for more years. Why would a financially handicapped team like the Brewers trade that away, while keeping the guy who will be gone after they year? As end stated Vargas and any other number of our other pitchers besides Sheets could be traded to open spots for the minor league guys if they are really knocking down the door. As much love as we have for guys lke Yo and Inman you never know how they are going to turn out. Yes they are outstanding prospects but thats all they are, prospects. Ben Hendrickson was great in AAA, but I never want to see him pitch another inning at Miller Park or any other ballpark in a Crew jersey.
  6. Why would we give up two young guys for a relief pitcher?? I think someone like Linebrink could go a long way in solidifying the pen but Gabe Gross and CV are two guys that are perfect for us. Young and chep relative to their production. There has got to be better options out tehre than that. If there is not tehn you simply hold onto Jenkins.
  7. I agree 100% percent. I think Yost waited way too long to use him only in favorable matchups last year. I just would hate to see Yost "stick with his guy" while he "battles it out" and watch Jenks get hammered by lefties for the first half of the season. I hope Yost has the guts to look at Jenks as a platoon player and play him as such. That is if he is still on the team come April.
  8. Jenkins should not be an every day player but he kills righties. That much was evidenced by the way he really came on late in the season. That happened to coincide with Yost sitting him vs lefties. If we can get anything of value for him we trade him because Gross has shown to be the same type of player but is much cheaper and much younger. That said we shoudn't give him away for nothing. He still has value in that he can still hit righties better than a lot of people. Look at his splits and that is obvious. He still K's too much but against righties his K rate is much better. Is Jenks an everyday player? No absolutely not, but he is a career long righty masher so why just give him away for nothing? There are plenty of teams out there that could use Jenks in some capacity. To give up a reflief pitcher for some one who will post a .300 BA and a high .800 OPS in 350 AB's is not ian insane asking price. If it weren't for Gabe Gross being on our roster I would be fully behind keeping Geoff strictly as a platoon player, but he is there so let's get another arm in th pen.
  9. I think regardless of Suppan or not Jenkins is too expensive for the Brewers to be a platoon player especially given the fact that Gross is on our bench for $7.5 million cheaper. I would love to have a Mench/Gross platoon I just can't see it happening because Mench was reportedly unhappy about that when he was in Texas. I don't see him being happy about that here either.
  10. I wouldn't hold your breath praying on that. Jenks avg against lefties over the past three years? .211
  11. I think that's a pretty decent point. Although money talks so does winning. The other thing signing a solid starter like Suppan is open up possibilities for trading Mench and Jenks for bullpen arms instead of starters. If we signed Suppan the team looks to be solid offensively, not amazing but solid. The starting rotation would look to be the best in the division and one of the tops in the NL. The bullpen, however, still looks shaky and it would not suprise me at all if DM immediately had something in the works to deal either one or both Jenkins and Mench for some proven bullpen arms. If DM can solidify the bullpen then I see a very solid all around team that has some question marks with the young guys but also a lot of upside to them as well.
  12. Ok so maybe fielding percentage was the wrong stat to use, but is there some stat that would accuratley judge his performance? All I can remember is watching him I never had to wince wondering if he was going to make a play. I just can't see people calling him a poor defender. As far as I was concerned last year, for a rookie he did a pretty good job.
  13. Ok Weeks I can see the argument, but to his credit he was getting better. Unless my memory is wrong Bill Hall's fielding wasn't where it is right now when he first was brought up by the Brewers. Week's defense will only get better especially with the marked improvement he has made. Prince had a .992 fielding percentage last year. As a rookie he made 11 errors the whole year. Sorry but he is far from a poor defender. Mark Teixara (who was the AL Gold Glove winner at 1b) had a .997 fielding percentage. Prince wasn't a Gold Glover there and probably never will be but he is in no way a poor defender.
  14. Come on the guy had a 0.00 ERA last year!!! Haha sorry I just couldn't help it. Why not. If he can be had on a minor league contract and with a Spring Training invite. Its not like he was that awful. He's got a career ERA of 4.3. Not great for a reliever but far from awful. Remember Cirillo was an ex-Brewer who had some really, really awful seasons and now there is a thread with almost 200 posts on it about how we lost him to an AL team. We can't bash the guy just because he was part of some the wors Brewers teams of all time.
  15. I think the point of going after SUppan is to have depth. After seeing Villi for 50+ innings we cant really say that he is going to do the same thing. The thing about Suppan is he has been very consistent for quite some time. He is a veteran who will pitch a lot of innings and knows how to win. Yes CV pitched very good last year, but it was a very small sample. We don't really know what we have for sure. Suppan gives us some much needed stability in the rotation. If by some chance we could sign him a rotation looking like this is pretty darn good. Sheets Cappy Bush Suppan Vlli or Vargas (with either one coming out of the pen as long man) I think the main thing that it does is add some certainty to the staff.
  16. Oh man I would love to have Barmes here. Only for the reason that when me and some friends went to Colorado to see the crew we kept saying when we went out after the game we were going to make a Bar-Mess. But seriously he is awful and I don't know why we would want him unless we are trying to clog up our infield as well as our outfield.
  17. Jenkins for Lopez would be good but Mench for Lopez would not be? I think they are both garbage but I think Jenkins has much more value than Mench. Maybe that's just me.
