  1. Absolutely do it, and absolutely get it filmed. If you're only going to do it once anyway, may as well go all out. I went with a buddy about 10 years ago and he's always regretted not getting it filmed. Weird experience. From up there, the ground doesn't even look real - and the free fall felt more like you were floating than falling b/c of all the wind rushing up. That was definitely my favorite part.
  2. Yes. Actually he was the starting pitcher in the first two Brewer losses that year. He was sent down shortly thereafter, and a year later he was working as a male model.
  3. I don't care if BA says its a no-hitter. His job is to report what's going on in the game. Plus, people who join the game 1/2 way through may want to know what's up so they know to keep watching. BA is much better than Sutton was. He's also better than a lot of the other play-by-play guys I've heard for the other teams. I get the Extra Innings package, so I often have to listen to the opposing team's announcers. Sure, he's no Uecker or even Powell, but he's not bad.
  4. Probably all of those factors plus possibly pressing/overthrowing b/c it was the playoffs.
  5. That maneuver was also used in the 1979 Gary Coleman vehicle, "The Kid From Left Field."
  6. Once a pitcher blows a save, he isn't eligible to get a save in the same game. So, once Torres allows the tying run in the 9th, he's no longer eligible to get a save no matter what happens. Therefore, when he comes into the game in the bottom of the 10th it's not a save situation for him, and he therefore can't blow another save. Creative though.
  7. That was not just a "hard" slide. It was a dirty slide, since the guy didn't even hit the ground until after the base. He basically jumped right into Weeks' planted leg. Having said that, I'm not sure beaning someone would have solved anything.
  8. The reason to bring the blog up is to give credit for the initial story. That's the proper way to do it. He had to either cite the Badger Blog or say nothing. Plus, citing the blog gives us, the readers, more information on his source and allows us to decide for ourselves whether it's reliable or not. It's not like he reported that Yost is going to be fired. He just passed along the link. I don't really see a problem. Actually, John Tomase of the Boston Herald is probably wishing that he had handled his Spy gate story a little more like this.
  9. First, this guy ("Cauley's") is a commenter on Haudricourt's blog - he's not a "blogger." Second, he's being sarcastic and mocking another frequent commenter ("Cauleys") who often thinks he has inside info. All of his posts are like this. (clarified where quote came from --1992)
  10. I'm guessing April-Early May is usually not a great period for HRs just b/c of the colder weather.
  11. I'll be sitting with dhoffman19 because he's dreamy. Homer
  12. Since McCalvy is saying it runs for at least 7 years after this one, I'm guessing there are some option years after that. Hopefully club options. I guess we'll find out shortly.
  13. Here's Adam McCalvy's blurb on the situation: Interesting that he says it's for at least seven years beyond this one.....
  14. No, they're not. "By giving Braun a seven-year extension beyond this year, the Brewers would buy out Braun's first year of free agency... The new deal is an extension of the $455,000 salary Braun was given for this season back in spring training. I'm guessing it has to be worth around $45 million or so." Doesn't that say it's a seven-year extension beyond this year? What am I mssing?
  15. Guess I should have read the blog entry more closely. I initially thought the new contract would start right away. If it's a 7-year extension, that would have to buy out 2 years of free agency. I hope that's the case and this makes more sense.
  16. I'll be sitting near Pesky's pole both Friday and Saturday.
  17. The Brewers are statistically a good defensive team.
  18. "A two month rental for a closer (who may not even close here) is not even close to Gwynn, another player from the roster plus a pitching prospect IMHO. Not for the Brewers." Well, we'd really be getting 2 months of Gwynn plus the 2 high draft picks we'd get as compensation after Gagne leaves.
  19. LaRussa should have put Pujols in, obviously. Probably just wanted to rest him. Also, am I the only one that saw the fan reach over the wall on Crawford's HR? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!
  20. I love Bill Hall. As far as I can tell, he is a great guy. Howevver, the only criticism I have of him is that on any hard hit ball to the gap or anywhere near the fence, there is a good 1-2 second pause before he starts running. I don't think is necessarily means he is cocky, but it is easy to correct and Ned needs to do something about it. I'm sure he did after last night. Any kind of a decent throw by Lee would have gotten him at second.
  21. The boys at FJM have completed their skewering. As they say: "Congratulations, everybody. This is the big one." www.firejoemorgan.com/
