  1. You also need take home runs, triples, a portion of the doubles and pop ups out of the equation. All of the sudden, it isn't such a good idea. I see what you are saying. Those are neutral in terms of benefit. So 24.8% K rate 16 doubles(12), triples(1) & HR(3) / 193 plate apperances = 8.2% Remainder is 67% he does something else. Now you have to deduct the negatives of all outs that are made in the air. That will really reduce the benefit. The only positive out is a hard hit ground ball. With one out I can see it once in a while. With no one out I don't think it is a very good idea.
  2. Ya. I am on board with that move. The odd's are in your favor of him either putting the ball in play or walking vs striking out. Weeks has struck out 48 times in 193 plate appearances. (25%) So that means 75% of the time he will do something else in that situation. You also need take home runs, triples, a portion of the doubles and pop ups out of the equation. All of the sudden, it isn't such a good idea.
  3. Gomez and Schafer 5 at bats 5 strikeouts. That's 5 of the 7 K's that Cobb has. Nice bit of strategy Ron.
  4. Last night BA and Rock were talking about the mental side of being a DH and who would and wouldn't be good at it. Their conclusion for the least likely successful DH was Gomez. Todays DH? Gomez. Oy.
  5. At least we get the off day before playing them. And they play in San Diego on Thursday afternoon.
  6. I would like to challenge someone to find a similar example where a team pulled their biggest power hitter BACK as the winning run to bunt all the way in a walkoff situation in the 9th. I'm sure that if you go back through the last couple of year of Kansas City baseball you can find an example.
  7. A nice job of battling by Wily tonight. 103 pitches is enough when you don't have your good stuff.
  8. RR says that Schafer has a better chance of laying down a bunt with two strikes than getting a hit. You can hear Coshun laughing in the background. Apparently his mike wasn't shut off.
  9. Amazing how fast Rami can run when he wants to get an RBI.
  10. Are you sure we have permission from St. Louis to do this? I fear we may be breaking an unwritten rule. Maybe Dead Simmons can check with some of his friends for us. Sure wouldn't want to raise the ire of the unwritten rules enforcers. After all, we have been told over and over that having fun isn't classy.
  11. why not with a 5-0 lead Because it causes you to strikeout true. I would rather he do it with a 5-0 lead. He hasn't hit against Latos until today (he was2-20 coming in) It's also a good sign that he is trying to pull the ball. It means he is feeling better.
  12. Khris Davis' at bat is the Brewers problem in a microcosm. The bases are loaded on three walks and Davis get 4 pitches in a row that are out of the strike zone. He swings at two for a 2-2 count. Then he takes a pitch right in the heart of the zone for strike three. No concept of the strike zone. Roenicke's reaction will be that it is okay because we want to be aggressive. In the meantime we have failed to add to a two run lead and it will most likely come back to haunt us again.
  13. I don't get this? What else was he suppose to do? 1) He moved Gomez back in the leadoff spot and Gomez had his best game in weeks. 2) Reynolds (HR) and Bianchi (1b) both were used properly and got pinch hits. 3) He handled the bullpen just right tonight without taxing it too much. He even got Wang some work without incident. It is not his fault that the best hitters on the team (Lucroy & Ramirez) couldn't come up with a clutch hit tonight. Nor is it his fault that Wily Peralta imploded tonight. I get that RR hasn't been the most popular guy around here but tonight was hardly any fault of his. How about bringing the infield in when the situation doesn't dictate it? Or letting a leadoff hitter swing on a 2-0 pitch in the 9th when a walk is what we need? Or not getting the starting pitcher out of the game when he doesn't have squat? How about a general lack of discipline at the plate and on the bases because he is an "aggressive" manager? The guy is a stooge .
  14. Get ahead 2-0 in the count and then swing at a high pitch. Has anyone in that dugout ever heard of just trying to get on base when they are down in the ninth?
  15. I have absolutely zero confidence that we can tie or win this game. When was the last time that RR pushed a correct button?
  16. How can I watch (or listen) to this interview online? I am watching on the FSW post game show.
  17. RR, "We're in a little spell but we will turn it around" "We're not playing terrible we are not playing that bad."
