  1. It's time for Murphy to tell the hitters that they can't challenge early in games. Challenges should be only used on defense for the first 5 innings or so.
  2. The tag rule could easily be fixed by making the rule state that once a runner is safe and a tag is applied, the runner can't be tagged out unless the fielder takes his glove off the runner and reapplies the tag.
  3. The "strikeout with a runner on third and less than 2 outs" routine is really getting old.
  4. It would have made more sense to have someone else pitch the 9th, then pinch hit for that pitcher and let Hader pitch the tenth. Hader is by far our best choice for the runner on second situation and if he gets through with few pitches he could possibly go the 11th.
  5. I don't care if the catcher is 0 for 7 throwing out runners this year. Sending the runner is a bonehead call by Counsell in this situation.
  6. I can't follow this logic at all- isn't Stearns the one who acquired that roster of talented hitters and guys that put up good numbers previously? Yep. How can he be blamed if they come here and don't produce at all? Doesn't that INHERENTLY imply issues with approach/coaching? I agree 100% with Peavey. For those who say 4 games is a small sample, I say this looks just like last year so it has become a 64 game sample. The hitting approach is abysmal and I think that is more on Counsell than Haines. All Haines is doing is what his boss wants him to do. It's like when Sedar used to always send runners from third on a ground ball with one out and everyone roasted him for it. It's the manager's philosophy, not the coaches execution.
  7. I predict that as soon as the minor leagues start playing, Hiura will be in AAA.
  8. Plus, I believe Yardley has options left. They won't DFA him if it comes to that, they will send him to AAA.
  9. I can't see Peralta as a starting pitcher. It seems like he averages 20 pitches an inning.
  10. I think it's a tad early to write off Cain. He only played 5 games last year and he missed a good portion of spring training. We should probably give him a few weeks before we call for his DFA.
  11. The run prevention unit isn't off to a very good start. A bad block by Narvaez costs one run and a bad jump by Cain costs another. Cain looks noticeably off, both in the field and at the plate.
  12. I put my name on the list in 1974. Steadily moved up the ranks and then received the call in 2013. It takes some patience to wait that long but it can be done.
  13. The kiss of death for Haines may have been when he was quoted saying that he didn't know what to tell Narvaez to help him out of his slump, he would just have to figure it out for himself. Isn't it the coaches job to come up with new strategies to help the players overcome their slumps? Interestingly, Counsell said pretty much the same thing when he was asked what he was going to do to get the offense going.

  16. Narvaez goes into Taylor's spot and Gamel stays in the games. Narvaez can still catch and Gamel starts the 8th at second base..
  17. Why didn't Counsell do a double switch with Narvaez going in for Taylor and leaving Gamel in the game? I'd rather have Gamel on second than Narvaez.
  18. Counsell's strength has always been his ability to run a happy clubhouse. The Brewers have really been hurt by the loss of Pat Murphy. There's been a noticeable difference in the lack of good in game decisions.
  19. For the life of me, I can't understand why Sogard hasn't tried bunting against the shift. He seems to do the other "little" things well so I can't believe that he doesn't have the skill.
  20. Nice throw by Narvaez, that was probably the best chance we had of getting out of the inning.

Not really liking this season as much as usual. The whole Boston Rob and Sandra thing is a bust and it doesn't seem like they are getting into the camp life as much.
