  1. so, who goes to Huntsville to replace bausher and belcher??? i vote fully for Dan Boyd and Manny Parra.. there might be someone a little more deserving than parra in high desert right now, but i'd just assume get him out of there.. boyd is, i think, 25, and has nothing left to prove at High A i also wouldnt mind seeing callix and rickie weeks switching spaces right now....callix is hotter than hot at the moment...and his 32/20 bb/k ratio is just plain sick i dunno if he is pulling a billy hall on us at High Desert, but he's got me watching right now...

  3. its funny to see some of the sabertoothedmathmaticians in here complaining about velocity.... come on guys...its all about results... we know ben has got some nasty stuff we know ben has a great track record in the minors (everyone needs to take a breath and look at what he did in high desert) he needs more time... i bet by his fifth start, ben has hit 92 on the gun at least once.... sheesh...i even saw tom glaving hit 92 one time... anyway, i think ben will be fine...i'd rather a pitcher have a tension filled first start than light it up and blow away like neugie did... though i will say that i have met the lord, and his name is saenz... he he...not true...but my ability to calmly laugh at clancy's lunacy is eroding
  4. note: Ned yost pinch hit for gary bennet in this game that means something
  5. Callix Crabbe is en fuego... his line now: .302/.399/.404 callix is the new ronnie belliard...and if rickie weeks ever gets moved to cf or 3b, callix could well have a future with the brewers...i know his d has never gotten rave reports...but that obp is great...great....great
  6. has anyone else been having problems with mlbtv???the last 4 times i've tried to watch a game it gives me that national broadcast restrictions crap on the brewers...i know full well they aren't on national tv today...and i'm 1000 miles from milwaukee, so what gives?

  9. Final: High Desert 12, Stockton (Rangers) 8 Mavericks draw nine walks and three HBP in addition to their 13 base hits... High Desert Site Game Summary: CANDY, SWEET CANDYThe High Desert Mavericks received an impressive offensive outing from Scott Candelaria, as the Mavericks cruised to a 12-8 victory over the Stockton Ports before 1,424 at Mavericks Stadium on Thursday night. Candelaria, who came into the game 0-for-4 against Stockton pitching, tallied a 3-for-3 evening at the plate while reaching base five times, notching three RBI?s, two walks, and a run scored. High Desert (19-29) avoids their first wrong-side of a home sweep at Mavericks Stadium for 2004, erupted for five runs in the fourth inning to turn a 2-2 tie into a 7-2 laugher. After a Chris Morris lead-off walk and a Callix Crabbe double, Dan Boyd drilled a three-run homer to center, followed by a Travis Hinton solo dinger to right, chasing Stockton starter Ben Keiter from the game. The Mavs, who posted their first back-to-back homer effort this season, tallied their fifth run of the inning on Candelaria?s RBI single. Candelaria followed with a two-run triple in the sixth to hike the lead to 9-4, after Stockton got two runs back in the fifth on a Juan Senreiso two-run homer. The Mavs finished off their scoring in the eighth on an Enrique Cruz RBI single and a two-run single by Morris, before Stockton (22-25) posted the final four runs of the evening in the ninth to make the score semi-respectable. David Bradley (3-2) picked up the win by tossing five innings in his first start in two weeks, scattering four runs on five hits. Keiter (2-4) collected the loss, while the Mavs? Eric Henderson tallied the save, his first of the year, by pitching the last four innings in relief of Bradley. High Desert takes to the road for nine games, lasting until June 7, as they send Bo Hall (2-3) the mound to begin a three-game series in San Bernardino with the Inland Empire 66ers, as the Sixers will counter with Ryan Rowland-Smith (2-0). The game?s first pitch will be at 7:11 PM (9:11 Central). 10. scotty's ops over the last seven games is over .800...he isn't really slumping so much...i think we may just be seeing a slight correction in his ba vs. last year...he's still a productive and valuable player when batting .260 because he walks and steals bases...i have confidence that the average will come back up to the .280 range... i just wouldn't say he is in much of a slump at the plate... on the other hand, jenkins lack of power this season is disturbing...
  11. hehe...i started weaver on my fantasy team today...worked out great for me...the crew gets two runs...and they are unearned...so they don't count against me...hooray
  12. can we please not dh a pitcher when vandenberg is on the bench???please???i just want to see jvdb get enough ab's to be listed with the league leaders...and also so sportsnetwork will list his obp, which i might addd, i am too lazy to figure out on my own
  13. i hadn't looked at the splits for home/road on weaver...but he's been good the last , month...improving...perhaps to the weaver of old....the scary thing is that just a couple of years ago...i coulda sat here and guaranted all of you that weaver was about to have a breakout start...he might not...that lineup should get on base a ton...but i', still slightly worried that we are gonna seee a 12 k, 3 hit shutout from weaver... here's to a pitchers duel...with sheets winning 2-1
  14. Final: Stockton (Rangers) 15, High Desert 9 High Desert Loses 15 to 9...box later if i'm still up ...otherwise its all yours Jim... High Desert Site Game Summary: THE ONE THAT GOT AWAYThe High Desert Mavericks fashioned an incredible seven-run comeback but were unable to finish the task, losing 15-9 to the Stockton Ports on Wednesday night at Mavericks Stadium before 1,334. Down 8-1 in the fourth inning, the Mavs (18-29) began their comeback with Froilan Villanueva?s fifth homer of the year, a solo bomb to left off Ports starter Wes Littleton. With Littleton holding the Mavs at bay but exiting after the sixth for wild reliever Ryan Dittfurth, the Mavericks took full advantage. Dittfurth walked an eye-popping first five batters he faced in the seventh, allowing High Desert to cut the deficit to 8-4. Dittfurth was pulled immediately for reliever Gary Hogan, who promptly gave up a two-run double to Callix Crabbe, drawing the Mavs within one. After Crabbe advanced to third on a Dan Boyd sacrifice fly, Travis Hinton did likewise, scoring Crabbe to tie the game at eight apiece. The Mavs immediately saw the game slip away in the eighth and ninth, allowing two runs in the eighth and five in the final frame. Craig Ringe, who replaced Adam Fox earlier after Fox was ejected for arguing a strikeout and coincidentally had burned the Mavs the past two nights in a combined 5-for-10, three home-run effort, finished the damage with a three-run triple in the ninth. Fox aided Stockton ?s (22-24) push for an early 7-1 lead through four innings, when Fox homered in his first two at-bats in the second and third off the Mavs? Forrest Martin and reliever David Nolasco. Gary Hogan (1-0) received credit for the victory for Stockton , while Nick Slack (1-2), who allowed Stockton?s go-ahead runs in the eighth despite tossing a stellar middle-relief performance, took the loss. The Mavs will try to salvage game three of the three-game series, with David Bradley (2-2) taking the hill for High Desert against Stockton?s Ben Keiter (2-3). I think they should leave hendrickson in AAA as long as possible...it may just be one more week anyway besides, iwon't mind finding out iof wise has got a major league arm...i don't think this is a bad thing at all..i mean, if you are gonna throw some relievers to the wolves...why not do it against the guys they were playing against in INDY 2 weeks ago?? hey, maybe mike adams gets 3 innings today.... on a sidenote...what happenes if they can't play this game???the brewers aren't going anywhere near puerto Rico again, right???Do they make it up in Mke???or do we just forget about it?

  23. can't wait to see I'd be content with just seeing it...
  24. there is plenty of interest... on that note: starting tommorrow, i suggest we have a pinned thread where everyone can complain about Pitch counts also, we need one for people to suggest position swaps and one for people to complain about people suggesting position swaps and finally, we need a daily thread for people to make fun of espn in.... or we could just keep creating a new one of these everyday like we have been for the past 2.5 years...
