  1. You still playing this? I signed up the other day. Just got to level 8. I could use a few pointers and some more people for my crew.
  2. Although it is not exclusive to Brewerfan.net, it's still a great opportunity. However- you can help make it virtually our area by ordering lots of seats!
  3. I've actually started making a few youtube vids while gardening. Tutorials, actually. They need some work, and I'll have to become better at editing the movies. I just have Windows Movie Maker right now, it's not the greatest thing to be using though. Perhaps I should look into something else. Anyhow, the videos are under brewerjamie15. Make a trellis out of an old wooden ladder
  4. Interesting article about the new Yankees ballpark. 20 homers in opening series
  5. I'm going out to clean my shop in the garage right now. I should see you around the boards again in August.
  6. 4 blown saves this season so far. Oof. W/o Hoffman, there is no difference for this season's bullpen and that of last season if you ask me. Use that as cannon fodder when folks tell you that losses right now do not matter as much as in the last quarter of the year.
  7. Neat question. Unfortunately, there's no magical date deadline for which trees will "leaf out". various species will produce leafs at different times. Some trees will leaf out early in the season (like maples) while others are quite late (ash). Mostly, the trees are signaled by temperature changes. Ground frost is one factor. Once the ground thaws out, nutrients can flow through the root system easier: mostly feeder roots. The release of foods like water into the now thawed soils enable the trees to take the nutrients through its vascular system and feed the buds. Another and more determining factor has to do with something called Thermal Sum (a combination of degree hours and degree days) In other words, a bud needs to be exposed to say 6 hours of sun and temperatures in excess of 45 degrees F for 6 hours. While I can't give a specific week that trees will leaf out, the Milwaukee area (wet of the lake) should be rather soon. We've had some warm days which will progress things, but as evening temperatures remain more consistently above around 40 degrees F we will see the first leaves of the spring. A very generalized answer, I know. Unless you find a magical tree fairy running around the neighborhood, I'd say look at the first two weeks of May in SE WI. If any of you out there are considering purchasing and planting a new tree or sapling this year, I'd suggest doing it now. See your local Nursery for "Bare Root" stock which will save money, and effort. Planting a tree now causes less transplant shock increasing your success rates.
  8. Uh- If I may, I'd like to make a suggestion here. I'm not trying to embarrass anyone at all, but we do have an avid fan that has not been mentioned just yet. This is a fan who has dedicated quite a bit of time and resources to his team of passion. This fan has garnered quite a bit of attention and handles it with a very modest nod. I'd like you to not forget Brian the Automator as a fan serious enough to have created an entire website and invite other fans to it. His site has gotten national attention and is looked at as classy and intense. Although he'd likely not want mention in the fan hall of fame, he surely belongs there.
  9. The great opportunities just keep rolling on in! Miller Park's Dew Deck is great seating. It's not a terribly easy ticket to get, either. On May 25th, you can get seats in the Dew Deck for $42.00. Dew Deck has perks unlike other areas of the park which include: Full Buffet (There's your money back right there) Unlimited water or soda Two drink voucher tickets per person If you're at all interested in a Dew Deck View, this is the time to take your chance. This is another offer unique to Brewerfan.net. Let's think about this for a sec, ok? Ya go to a game and grab a seat for say, maybe twenty dollars. Ya grab a couple bratwurst, some fries for another $18 or so. Two icy beers run ya another $12. That's $50.00. This offer gives up all that for $42.00 plus a section away from other fans- which makes for less waiting in line for anything. That is also a good Prince Fielder Home Run area, so you could take home a free souviner. Come out and join me watching the Brewers Crunch the Cards! http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/MLBEventInfo?agency=BRWSB2B_15&pid=6401255 https://secure.mlb.com/mil/ticketing/dew_deck.jsp One of the most popular party areas is available for you at Brewerfan.net. The Dew Deck features a pre-game buffet that begins when the Miller Park gates open and ends one hour after the first pitch. For just $42 per person, fans receive delicious pre-game buffet (see menu below). The buffet begins when the Miller Park gates open and ends one hour after the first pitch. DEW DECK BUFFET MENU FEATURES: Grilled Bratwurst with Sauerkraut Hot Dogs Chicken Breast Sandwiches Hamburgers Lettuce, Tomato, and Pickle Platters Pasta Salad Assorted Cookies Soft drinks Two beers per adult Beverages are located at the concession stand inside the Dew Deck. When getting your beer, please present your game ticket, which will be punched to indicate your remaining amount of beer.
  10. Nothing wrong with a quality start. Bush settled down nicely, looked good. Let's hope the bats keep working need another run or two. Been listening to the game mostly, working in the garage. Just tuned in the TV broadcast so I've not seen too much of Citi Field what do ya think?
  11. So. Who in the Milwaukee area wants to take a fellow BF.Net member on a mushroom hunt? I'm curious to try this once.
  12. Let's see some of your ink!
  13. Wait a minute. You mean to tell me I can make enough money to go to some Brewer games and or take a vacation? I'm gonna go find a mushroom gun and start blowing some of those things away. Seriously though- you can make some cash for that? What kind of mushroom is pictured above? How do you sell them? What to look for? Are they all over the place?
  14. Ok- fifty bones was too high from what I see. I should have looked on ebay first. I'll give it up for ten bucks. KCBrewerfan gets first dibs. I don't have a scan though. I can throw in a Randy Johnson rc (Topps) but I'd want to get $20 for the two. I'm going to put the funds to Brewerfan.net so you get a couple nice cards and help out the site at the same time.
  15. Anyone coming to this thing?
  16. Practice will be Saturday at 11:00 am at Sijan Field on the diamond we use for games. Please bring checkbooks and cash to pay ball fee, and player fees. Thanks Guys
  17. I can't understand why they keep showing all cub fans in the stands on TV.
  18. I'm not sure what's worse: watching this catastrophe, or hearing the cub fans cheering. Disgusting to watch lemmie tell you. One good thing for Suppan though- lasting not even 4 innings should make it easy on the ol' arm stifness tomorrow.
  19. Good gosh. What a horrid outing. I'm Macha right now, it's hard for me to keep the frustration from showing. What a disaster.
  20. 2nd run walked in this inning. This is sickening. Suppan is no place near the zone half the time, he looks terrible- just terrible.
  21. At the end of last season, I was going to a sell out game and was in a ton of traffic. I remembered the 1610 thing, and flipped it on. I must have preset it because in the dead I winter I was flipping through A.M. radio and a Miller Park traffic report from the same playoff game I was at was still on the air. I left it go for a bit for a nice flashback.
  22. I was out in my backyard today and decided to light the burn barrel for warmth and to get rid of some old branches and lumber scraps. (Did you know you can put that ash in your vegetable garden as organic matter?) Anyhow, I put some newspaper in the barrel, and some wood. I poured on a bit of gas to help ignite it. I tossed the match in from a few feet away. The bucket/fire made a "whoosh" sound. "Whoosh". I just wanted to describe that part of my day because I got to use the term "whoosh". neat-o
  23. There will be one Saturday after Easter. I have to work out the rest. Sorry for the delay, I'm swamped with non-softball life occurrences.
