  1. Looks like Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite
  2. I wrote this in the other thread about the collector but how the heck are there still leaks going on? There can only be a handful of individuals who have knowledge of the specifics of this case. Is the MLB just so upset that they're throwing all this info out there? Or is MLB too incompetent to find out who keeps leaking info?
  3. How are there still leaks going on? After the initial leak, why isn't MLB doing a better job of protecting the names/events/case theory surrounding this investigation? Seems like amateur hour over there.
  4. Deadspin recently ran a great recap of the making of one of the best Simpsons episodes ever "Homer at the Bat" http://deadspin.com/5886723/the-making-of-homer-at-the-bat-the-episode-that-conquered-prime-time-20-years-ago-tonight

  7. Since I unfortunately can't make it down to Spring Training this year, I hope all those who do can share their Spring Training Photos here. I'll start with a link to some AP photos taken yesterday : http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/mil/photos#photoViewer=urn%3Anewsml%3Asports.yahoo%2Cap%3A20050301%3Amlb%2Cphoto%2Cap-201202171320480293849%3A1

  9. She wanted her name on the back of the shirsey so I complied with that request. Her favorite number is 14 (So she is secretly rocking a Branyan shirsey).
  10. What did everyone get their SO's? I got mine a little piece of jewelry (bracelet), an expensive candle that she likes, and oh yeah, a customized Brewers shirsey. I wonder which one I am most proud of?
  11. Definitely agree with the competitive bidding. The Padres used to be on the local Cox Cable channel so I'm sure a part of the price was getting them to move to Fox Sports. Not sure if Time Warner Sports could really compete with FS Wisconsin, but it would be good to at least have tried to receive a competing bid.
  12. Eh, I didn't read it that way. He said some people would see it that way and that "Braun is entitled to an appeal and should be vindicated if the facts support his argument." I think there is something to be said that the MLB is not showing any favoritism as I suspect the NBA or NFL might.
  13. Brandon Jennings told ESPN he's exploring options to sign with a big market team when his contract expires and I don't really blame him. http://espn.go.com/nba/st...omework-big-market-teams As the article said, the trend is to build these super teams in three or four cities and the rest of the league is left to pick amongst the scraps. Whether he deserves a big free agent contract or not is another story, just wanted to hear what others thought.
  14. Seconded. I live in D.C. and have been waiting for the Nats to become relevant. The town will absolutely support a winning team (just look to the Caps resurgence). If the Nats finally get their act together, they will become a serious big spender and contender.
  15. I have to agree. We've been in NBA hell for the past few years (playing just good enough to miss out on the prime lottery spots). If we are going to turn the corner we can't keep picking in the 10-15 range. Let the team stink and try to reap the benefits of picking near the top.
  16. Thanks for the info jjfanec and Crew2323. Really interesting with the back-to-back picks plus the potential of a supplemental pick. Doug Melvin and Bruce Seid must be licking their chops.
  17. It was asked in the Prince thread that was just locked but what sort of compensation do we get from the Tigers (i.e. what pick)?
  18. Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop was arrested in Madison. The national nightmare is over: http://www.huffingtonpost...410.html?ref=mostpopular
  19. MLB: Brewers NFL: Packers - Redskins (Only follow to see how they screw up this time) NBA: Bucks (fair weather) - Wizards (Ditto from Redskins) NHL: Grew up in CT and disowned hockey after Whalers moved to Carolina. Really like hockey but hard to love again. NCAAF: Badgers NCAAB: George Washington (Alum but they stink right now so casually follow Badgers) Soccer: US Men & Women
  20. Really? From everything I've heard outside of the few blocks of government buildings DC is a ghetto. It's getting a lot better. I'm not saying there aren't bad parts, but most of NW DC and Downtown is all gentrified. Chinatown has tons of high-rise luxury apartments and that's where a lot of the younger Nats/Capitals players live. Even down by the new ballpark a bunch of new apartments and condos are being built. The bad areas are getting pushed further and further east of the Anacostia river.
  21. Per Deadspin: http://deadspin.com/5863855/the-baseball-hall-of-fame-ballot-is-out-and-it-seems-no-one-good-retired-in-2006 (Players in Their First Year of Eligibility in Bold) Jeff Bagwell, Jeromy Burnitz, Vinny Castilla, Juan Gonzalez, Brian Jordan, Barry Larkin, Javy Lopez, Edgar Martinez, Don Mattingly, Fred McGriff, Mark McGwire, Jack Morris, Bill Mueller, Terry Mulholland, Dale Murphy, Phil Nevin, Rafael Palmeiro, Brad Radke, Tim Raines, Tim Salmon, Ruben Sierra, Lee Smith, Alan Trammell, Larry Walker, Bernie Williams, Tony Womack, Eric Young. Yikes, those first-timers are pretty bad. I guess I'd vote for Larkin and maybe Lee Smith. Otherwise, not so much.
  22. The surronding areas of DC have a lot of money. The only reason people don't show up now is because the team is garbage. If Fielder and Worth pan out, Strasburg comes back strong, and Harper comes up strong, people will support this team and $$ will start flowing in. Coupled with the fact that the Nats have a terrible TV deal because of their agreement with the Orioles. I wouldn't be shocked at all that given the right moves, DC becomes a consistently high spending market.
  23. Kam Loe will pitch in the 8th because he's RRR's "Eighth Inning Guy"
  24. That Lou Palsmo guy needs a shot too! I like the idea of trying out some youngsters for 2012 but not so sure that Scarpetta is ready for a spot in the rotation just yet.
