  1. I'm sorry, but in no way can you start comparing Yost to Leyland or Cox. When Yost has some serious success, then he might get a free pass for a season or two. But he hasn't had that success yet.
  2. Nice GormanHarvey, glad to see we're on the same page http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Because I've already seen the future, and it includes a Yost postgame conference with a quote that sounds an awful lot like, "A great pitcher pitched a great game! He's Burke Badenhop! What did you expect!?"
  4. I wonder if there isn't something going on where pitchers don't want to allow the offense to "clear the pitcher." You would think that the guy batting before the pitcher woudn't see many pitches because the pitcher is an easier out. But in recent years, I almost thought pitchers were going after that hitter because they wanted to get that out and give themselves an easy first out the next inning. I actually agree with that strategy, assuming it's not a situation with a lot of runners on or something like that. If there's two outs, go after the guy before the pitcher.
  5. Laughed out loud at work http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. This is another good point. Technically she doesn't HAVE to pay anything, but the landlord should be coming after both you and the ex, not just you. She signed the lease, so she's just as responsible for it.
  7. 1. Your ex sounds really annoying. 2. What exactly is wrong with your landlord that they don't understand the terminology of a sublease? For some reason, it sounds like the landlord would rather have you struggle to pay the full rent and live there yourself than have someone else there and have them split it so that the two of you can actually make rent. 3. I don't think you have much of a case. You can't fail to pay rent because of the way another tenant acts unless, I suppose, you can find a string of complaints about her from neighbors or previous tenants and also show that the landlord hasn't done anything about it. Even then, it would be tough.
  8. Yup, I understand that about people. Just don't expect me to like it. "Like" and "be tolerant of" are two different things. I get what you're saying, though.
  9. There's a difference between saying one thing and saying nothing. Yost didn't just keep those thoughts from the media, if he is in fact having them. He came out and made it seem like anyone that even thinks about that is an idiot because...IT'S ERIC GAGNE. Edit: Or maybe it was Melvin that said that last part. I don't know, it's all getting blurry lately...
  10. I think a lot of it also has to do with HOW you're memorizing things. I used to do it by repetition, but realized how tedious and frustrating that could be. I don't like doing something when it feels like it's not going anyplace. I found that if I learn the material once, then pretend to teach it to a class in my mind, it sticks a whole lot better and it's a much quicker process. And if you start to question what you're "teaching", you have a the resource right there. This allows you to know the things you know and concentrate only on the things you need to work on.
  11. I hope not, because I'm the same way. Things changed recently because I had a nose surgery to help me breathe better so I now sleep better, but I'm still usually much more awake late at night. I imagine it mostly has to do with lifestyle or lifestyle changes. When I go out drinking some night, I'm usually pretty wide awake at 11 or midnight the next night, even though I'm really tired (and/or hungover) all day.
  12. This was almost a given with the Cameron signing and the move of Braun to left and Hall to 3rd. I have never seen such horrible baserunning from a team in my life. Hall getting picked off at second. Numerous players getting caught in pickles at completely random times. And yes, the two runners getting thrown out at home, but there wasn't an entire thread devoted to Sveum because of those two runners. There are been enough baserunning mistakes to be noticeable, and that's not a good thing. I didn't notice it last year, which to me means they weren't quite so bad at it. Rickie absolutely tore up AAA ball. Didn't seem like he had a whole lot of hitting warts back then.
  13. For some reason, I'm already hearing the postgame conference and the words, "Badenhop is a great pitcher and he pitched a great game. What else can I say?"
  14. If Gagne is told that he's not going to get every single save opportunity, would that really be considered a demotion? I'm not saying to never let him pitch in the 9th with a 3 or less run lead, but is that the only time we can use him? And if there are 2 or 3 lefties coming up the next inning, why couldn't Shouse or Stetter come in for the "save"? If Gagne is supposed to be our best reliever, why not bring him in earlier when it's tied to make sure we keep it tied and possibly take a lead? If Gagne pitches 2 days in a row, what would be so wrong about bringing in Torres for one day? I just don't understand why it has to be so black-and-white.
  15. Forgive my lack of computer knowledge here, but which one is the operating system...Ubuntu or Linux? I'm assuming Linux, but then what exactly is Ubuntu? Is it just an application on Linux?
  16. Thanks for all the help everyone. Think I'll give it a test run this weekend and see what I think http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. While I agree that there's no reason they should win enough games to be involved, I think NDOG has a point that we can't just write them off. Also the same with the Cards. It's almost like we just figure they'll come back down to earth and we'll surpass them. But what if they don't come back down to earth until we're 100 games into the season and no one can catch them anymore? I really like all the stats and I think they're very useful, but I don't think we should ever rule anyone out based on them. I don't remember who said it or where it was said, but someone once said that the run that a team made one year was because their entire pitching staff had career years. That's great to know if we want to make predictions for next year, but if we're in the midst of a bunch of guys on the Astros or Cards having career years, I don't think it should just be assumed that they'll come back down to earth and allow us or the Cubs to fly by.
  18. Because they've been watching our games this year and they realize that former players destroy us.

  20. I find this interesting. Mostly because I wouldn't put us in the realm of "good" teams. This team hasn't proven enough yet to be considered a good team since we haven't even been to the playoffs. So shouldn't we be thinking out of the box and trying to find any way to squeeze out a few more wins? Perhaps that was the thought-process of batting the pitcher 8th. I just wish it would be used in bullpen management. I would really hope they don't. These are men. At least I hope so. There would be no reason for Gagne to start crying if he doesn't get his save opportunities. I thought Ned was the one that was supposed to install some grit into these guys. Honestly, I would hope that if it was explained and communicated properly, like a good manager in any profession should always be able to do, then they should be on-board.
  21. That's all Insider is saying as well. They would only agree to terms if it's for a minor league deal.

  23. Congrats! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Just make sure they don't get Boras as their agent.
  24. I think the most annoying part about being a catcher is having to throw baserunners out. You have absolutely no control over it. You just press the button and hope it gets there fast. I guess that's somewhat realistic, but I would think you would have some sort of control.
