  1. Oddly enough, I've been drinking a lot of actual blue koolaid lately. I bought some just a few days ago...and suddenly the Brewers started playing real baseball. Hmmm...
  2. Yeah, but saying "one more shot" could mean a lot of things. What if he goes 6 innings with 1 run allowed, then goes out for the 7th and gives up 4 more runs? Is that a bad outing?
  3. I thought there was a thread once talking about how D. Lee has been a big part of this for Ramirez. I can't imagine Prince having the same positive defensive impact that Lee has for infielders.
  4. The weird thing is that I had a daydream the other day about a bear attacking me and what I would do, and now I'm not scared anymore http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. How much did that run you (the site is forbidden on my work computer)? And is there any kind of compatibility issue?
  6. If it's presented to Yost this way, I imagine he might be willing to give it a shot. Just think Ned, new bullpen management propels the Brewers to the playoffs under skipper Yost! People would think you're a genius!
  7. That could be the most useful information to come out of this entire thread.
  8. I'm just looking for something simple to take DVDs and burn copies. I thought not many years ago that these were pretty expensive, but looking around Ebay there are a lot of them for $30-$40. I don't want anything cheap that will be more of an annoyance, though. I have an open drive on my computer, but is it a pain to find something compatible? Anyone have a specific suggestion?
  9. I think this is about the cut-off. I'm 26 and loved the show...and I'm using part of my stimulus check to buy the DVDs (before this thread even came out). But most people 3-4 years younger don't really know what I'm talking about. I'm sure most have heard the "try to take over the world" at some point in their life, though...even if they didn't know where it's from.
  10. Ouch http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif And yes, farmers have radios but they don't always last very long. At least they didn't when I was a kid. I grew up on a farm and we listened to the games sometimes, but quite often it didn't come on.
  11. I believe it's because of the way the transaction happens. When you fill in the info for direct debit, you're giving the IRS permission to withdraw from your account. But you're not giving them permission to deposit into your account. A little messed up, but that has more to do with how financial institutions work than the government.
  12. Yeah, it's getting a little tiring having all these guys with huge bats that just get pushed into the outfield cause they can't field a grounder. I would think at some point that Gamel or LaPorta become trade bait for more pitching prospects. Otherwise our outfield gets even more clumped with big bats and no D.
  13. Absolutely MJLiverock. If one of those guys throws 10 pitches in the 8th, I don't see any reason why they couldn't stay out there for the 9th. And that doesn't mean we can't have someone warming up just in case they see some trouble. This would also help make the decision for the next night. If Riske throws one inning and Torres throws one, it would leave it up to a decision to choose who pitches. But if Riske throws two innings and Torres rests, it makes the decision for the next night that much easier.
  14. I guess it depends on what kind of hitter you'd like them to be, though. If you bring up Gamel and only show him right-handed pitching for awhile, I imagine he would stop developing against lefties. I know it's not as simple as that as a hitter is always a hitter to some extent, but if we ever want him to be a full-time 3rd baseman, I imagine it would be best to show him both sides throughout his development.
  15. That's madness! And I completely agree. If Griffey and Dunn are coming up in the 9th, bring on Shouse or Stetter. If it's 3 righties, bring on Mota or Torres or Riske. Just pick the guy who is most rested. We have plenty of arms, and with Stetter doing well as another lefty (and I think that's a big deal), we have some very good options to always be at an advantage in the 9th. If Yost does this, I will... *gulp* ...respect him for it.
  16. I imagine if everyone just started using them whenever they wanted, it would take away how special it is for Mother's Day. I personally like it the way they do it now.
  17. Get it. I'm actually curious as well, as I was a huge fan and quote often, but friends of mine don't know what I'm talking about.
  18. Took a little bit of digging, but here's what I found: If you click on the link, you can find an answer to most questions somewhere through following a some links depending on what the question pertains to.
  19. The odd thing is that it seems like it's hard to hold on to a winning streak and continue it. But if momentum makes things easier, shouldn't it get easier? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I have no idea what I'm talking about. I think after the Brewers dramatic win the other night, they actually had a little bit of fire and confidence. Before that, just looking at the team and their attitude on the field, I was quite certain they were going to lose every game for the rest of this year. So basically, I think momentum is more in the fan's perception. At least I hope so.
  20. I'm on board with this. I really want them to make it, but I don't think they will as is.
  21. I think it's slightly false to say anyone thinks we would be better off with LaRussa; it's just that most think we would be better off with Yost's mom. And the fact that Tony consistently outmanages Ned. On another topic, I've been watching a lot of games lately, and I'm amazed at how many strikes pitchers throw in the AL. Maybe it's just my perception, but it seems like there are a lot more strikes thrown and they rely much more on their defense.
  22. Anyone know if she posts here? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. He's batting in the 9 spot because he gets on base well. Plus, Kendall isn't some slouch like Estrada. He's beaten out infield grounders before by himself, so I imagine he might be able to beat out the throw to first.
  24. Kinda the same way Yost dumps responsibility on his players or coaches or mosquitos?
  25. If you're a manager in any profession you DO NOT throw your employees under the bus. You defend them and take the blame yourself. Yost does not know how to manage. Anything. You can blame Kendall or Hall or Sveum all you want, but Yost should be the last person blaming anyone else. It doesn't even matter if it isn't his fault. When you're the head guy, you take the blame.
