  1. Yo not fooling anybody in the 1st. His overall stuff just seems less impressive thus far this year.
  2. Hey at least we made Soup work in the 1st...to the tune of a whopping 8 pitches. Ugh
  3. Totally agree. The injury came from his knee buckling, not from him standing up to see how it felt. Just like MJLiverock said above, the damage had already been done, unfortunately. Best of luck to Mat for a speedy and steady recovery.
  4. Also from TH's blog entry... Travis Ishikawa, who will take over for Gamel at first base for the most part, and Corey Hart, who also could see action there, both indicated that Gamel will need surgery to repair his knee. We haven't heard if it's cartilage or a ligament tear. "Hopefully, the surgery goes well," said Ishikawa. "I've been praying for him since it happened that it would be as good a news as possible. Obviously, it wasn't. I'll continue to pray for him that his recovery is 100% and speedy. I don't know if it's the whole season or what not. (A long-term absence) is the way he made it sound."
  5. Sad... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/18937940/report-junior-seau-dead-from-a-self-inflicted-gunshot-chest-wound
  6. At this point I'd say best case scenario is an MCL tear (typically heals on its own in about 3 wks) or meniscus damage a la Corey Hart. Get well soon Mat
  7. From McCalvy's MLB blog- Manager Ron Roenicke expressed concern after the Brewers 2-0 loss to the Padres, speaking to reporters at the same time Gamel was being further examined. Asked whether he feared the injury was significant, Roenicke said, “Yeah, I think so. I felt pretty good when he stayed in the game. He seemed to be strong. Any time a guy walks off after trying to swing, you’re going to be concerned about him. With the knee, there’s so many things that you can tweak. Whether it’s a slight tear or whatever the case may be, there’s a lot going on.”
  8. Boy, Roenicke sure seemed subdued in his post game conference. I'm sure getting beat late and being shut out has a lot to do with that, but you have to wonder if part of it is Gamel. He said when he went to swing while on deck, Gamel could tell something wasn't right with his knee. He said doctors are going to look at it tonight. He said he wasn't sure if it was a small tear or what. Said there's a lot going on in a knee, so its hard to guess. Weeks told him he saw the knee turn some before it impacted the wall. Didn't sound great. Hoping for the best...
  9. I believe I prefaced my Aoki comment with "in limited PT". And slap hitters can square up balls...they just usually end up being hard ground balls or liners over the infield, not dribblers. It was just an early observation. Not saying I don't think he's capable of more.
  10. Mike Winters has absolutely no clue behind the plate tonight
  11. That's not even cool. I'm choosing to be optimistic though, whether its logical or not.
  12. The way he was writhing in pain, I don't think it's just tightness. Actually, when Dan Wright was moving his knee all around and bending it, it didn't look like he was in pain at all. Nice zone, Winters. Wow.
