  1. Hopefully this prevents them from using Marmol, if, God forbid, the Cubs are leading late in either of the subsequent 2 games.
  2. Don't forget what happened last week against the Cubs. It aint over until we've recorded the 27th out.
  3. I take back 8 percent of the negative things I've said about you Rickie!
  4. McClung is on fire. I wouldn't robotically switch to one of our many tenuous setup guys just because that's what the book says. If we reach the pitcher's spot in the order then bring in the calm, cool Villanueva.
  5. Why does Counsell have a spot in the lineup again? Ah, well, I said I'd be satisfied with 1 run and I am.
  6. I would have taken one run after the runners were on 1st and 2nd with nobody out. I don't think that's too much to ask.
  7. move runners over and in I beg of you!
  8. stop giving edmonds fastballs on the outside corner
  9. We needed that last out to come on the base pads because a lot of pressure was on Soup to finish thinking in the back of his mind that was probably his last inning. Big break aided by great throws from Hardy and Kendall.
  10. I probably would have piggybacked McClung and Villanueva, pitching them for 3-4 innings each. McClung has fared pretty well until about pitch 45, and Villanueva until pitch 75. Suppan has pretty much been a disaster throughout games. Plus, Villanueva and McClung have had pretty good success against the North-siders this season. Once again, Suppan has been a disaster. I'm going to be biting my nails throughout Soup's start. At any sign of trouble Villa should be called upon to save the day.
  11. The Brewers knocked the Astros out of the race in 2003 by taking 2 out of 3 at Enron, allowing the Cubs to win the Central Division. The Cubs unintentionally played a part in injuring Gallardo, who would have been mentioned in the same sentence as Lincecum, Hamels, etc.; had he completed a full season, and the Brewers probably wouldn't be in this situation had he stayed healthy. The Cubs played the final game of our series together last week like it was game 7 of the World Series, when in reality it was virtually meaningless. We definitely don't owe the Cubs thanks for anything at this point. They can repay their debt by at the very least laying down for the Brewers as they did in the final game against the Mets.
  12. We only needed a single.....that's bad situational hitting Braun. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  13. Wow, that is ballsy! You were calling that the least clutch player on the team would succeed in the highest pressure moment of the season arguably.
  14. If we lose this game I'd classify the Brewers chances of making the playoffs as very minimal. In a bush league move Lou supposedly isn't going to rest as many players against the Brewers as he did against the Mets. A 1-game deficit with the top team in the national league coming to a town where they've dominated does not provide a positive outlook.
  15. I consider us lucky that Sanchez didn't crush that predictable 2-strike, 2-out hanger by Mota. The inning doesn't start for Mota until he has 2 strikes and 2 outs. Also, we're lucky that a left hander was scheduled subsequent otherwise Sveum would have stuck with him, potentially resulting in disaster.
  16. Another great move by Sveum. Just because Dillon is proven, doesn't mean that's a positive. He's proven to be a career minor leaguer.
  17. you're joking right? the clubs have played very hard against the mets and have a chance to take 3 out of 4 in a series that means nothing against them. marmol has logged a ton of innings, and the cubs have earned the right to rest him. hopefully they can put a run on the board right here and shut them down in the bottom of the ninth They reserve the right to do so ethically, as long as they don't employ a double standard against another team in playoff chase, like the Brewers.
  18. Is Marmol injured or are they just saving him? If they're saving him and then pitch him against the Brewers that's bush league.
  19. The Mets just scored another run. It's now 6-5 Cubbies.
  20. More bad managing by Sveum. I realize that Villanueva's coming in to pitch, and the primary role of the hitter will be bunting, but I doubt he's the best on the team. We have a surplus of position players at our disposal....why not just utilize them in that situation? Then if they fail on the first two strikes on bunt attempts, they at least have hope to still come through with a base hit.
  21. I acknowledged it was a mistake by Sveum, but asserting Rickie Weeks would have still produced that deep fly with a runner on third and less than 2 is presuming a lot. Puttsburgh may not have pitched him in an identical fashion and Weeks is a low contact choker. He has 10 sac flies in 1,900 career PA's.
