  1. I know that not all Millennials are this way, and maybe it's just the younger Millennials that have a tendency to be this way, but this is one of the reasons why people dislike Millennials. I'm at SFO this morning and trying to grab some breakfast before getting on the plane. Of course, can't have Burger King or McDonalds in the SF airport, has to be gourmet everything. I find a place that has a good omelet on the menu that I don't have to alter the ingredients, so I get in line which is a good 10 people deep. In front of me is a girl, early 20's, and of course has her earbuds in and is talking with someone on Facetime. Well, finally it gets to be her turn to order. - Guy taking orders has to yell "NEXT" twice, then she takes her earbuds out. - "Yes... um... do you have, like, sandwiches... (something about tomatoes, asks 3-4 questions - menu is clearly printed on the wall with ingredients, even I can read the menu from the back of the line)...", guy at counter points to sample food on display. - Orders food... then has to turn around to set her backpack down on the counter so she can get her wallet out - Finishes transaction, continues farting around with her backpack and phone, guy taking orders says "NEXT", I say "California omelet". - I literally reach over her to hand my credit card to the cashier Hey hashtag, there are other people in this world besides you who are trying to get food and have a plane to catch. And don't get me started on the people who put their backpack, briefcase, or handbag in the overhead compartment instead of under the seat in front of them. There are people who would like to find a spot for their carry-on
  2. I really like what they did on day 2. Any pitcher drafted in the 3rd round or later is going to have at least one wart; the question is whether professional coaching will be able to fix those warts. Overall I think they got really good value with the pitchers, and if they can sign Henry and Thomas it will be quite the draft. I know that Ray will not be a huge under-sign, but if they have a deal with him that is $400-500K under slot and that amount (plus the savings on the York pick) is enough to bring Thomas in the fold I will be very happy. With Henry I don't think it is about money, I think it is about whether they will give him two years off to do a mission.
  3. I would expect the Crew to pick a few seniors in the next few rounds to try to free up some bonus pool. I don't foresee anyone except maybe Burns who would require over-slot, but you never know if they take a flyer on a kid who might sign for $500K but not $100K. Edit: And of course they draft a HS catcher. Maybe that's a sign they have bonus pool available, but I don't see this kid on the MLB.com Top 200 list.
  4. Zack Brown - yes!! I had him too, but not in the correct round: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?p=987262#p987262
  5. I'm OK with the Ray pick - I think there were better options, but not a bad pick - but I really, really like their other four picks.
  6. I was hoping they would draft Easton McGee. All the mileage you could get out of that last name...
  7. "Webb opened his senior season at Owasso (Okla.) High in 2014 with consecutive no-hitters, then blew out his elbow in his third start and required Tommy John surgery. He spent 2015 rehabilitating his elbow and turned down the Indians as a 38th-round pick last summer before enrolling at South Carolina. A rare Draft-eligible freshman, he has been one of the best starters in the Southeastern Conference this spring and led the league with 117 strikeouts in 90 1/3 innings entering the NCAA tournament. Webb can get swings and misses with two pitches. He has a low-90s mph fastball that reaches 96 and has riding life up in the strike zone. If hitters try to sit on his heater, he can change their eye level with his best offering, a mid-70s overhand curveball with tight spin. Though Webb has a decent third pitch in a changeup with some sink, most scouts project him as a reliever. He doesn't have an athletic delivery, doesn't consistently throw strikes and his command is even more sporadic. He does create deception with his mechanics and has an aggressive nature that could work well in a high-leverage bullpen role." The Brewers seem to be able to teach pitchers how to throw a decent changeup, so I'm not that concerned about it. Plus, guys are usually a little erratic the first year after TJ, so I'm not too concerned. A draft-eligible freshman? Might have to go over-slot to sign him.' Edit: that 2nd paragraph sounds a bit like Sheets...
  8. Duplantier and Luzardo were on my list, although Duplantier is an eligible sophomore so he does have some leverage.
  9. In Nolan Ryan's day you didn't have guys standing on top of the plate wearing body armor. I dare say a much higher % of those HBPs by Ryan were intentional than the MLB average this season. I also dare say that Nolan Ryan has much better control than the average MLB pitcher this year.
  10. As I mentioned before, the Cubs didn't get to where they are by spending their top picks on pitching. And while they spent a lot on Lester, it didn't cost a lot to acquire Arrieta, Hammel, and Lackey. What if the Brewers had kept Sveum as manager in 2009, and Sveum hired his buddy Bosio as pitching coach...
  11. Jon Duplantier still available...
  12. I can't find it on their MLB page - link please?
  13. "The key to Feliciano is his bat. He has some strength in his swing with over-the-fence potential. He's not an all-or-nothing hitter, showing a solid approach at times. Especially for a catcher, Feliciano runs well and that athleticism does help him behind the plate. Some worry about his ability to catch long-term. He does have a solid arm, but the rest of his defensive game is still a work in progress. " Only 17, doesn't turn 18 until November, probably younger than most of the people he's playing with. I think mlb.com may have him a little underrated.
  14. MLB.com draft tracker still on pick #60... Epic fail.
  15. MLB.com draft tracker is on pick #60... seriously
  16. What's going on? After Rortvedt was picked I went to take a shower, and when I come back only two picks are showing on MLB draft tracker, no Speas pick showing up yet.
  17. The MLB.com draft tracker for me is stuck on the Rortvedt pick. Anyone else having that issue?
  18. That was my biggest criticism of the Jack Z/Doug M regime - no LH balance. Seid drafted LH bats but they didn't pan out (Kentrail Davis, Walla, Morris, Ramirez, Neuhaus).
  19. I've had it, it's one of the better Rita flavors. Just remember, it's a margarita-like drink, not beer.
  20. Makes you think that any package for Lucroy will have to include a stud SP prospect. From what I read they were comparing Erceg to Utley but with the ability to stay at 3B. Any time you can get a LH stick at 3B or C you take it.
  21. Erceg - hey, I got one! http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?p=987262#p987262
  22. There goes Gowdy. Hoping for Duplantier.
  23. The unknown is, what is the economic status of a kid's family? If they're not very well off, it becomes a lot harder to turn down $1.5M or whatever their slot is worth.
  24. Nab a couple of senior signs in the 5th & 6th rounds and you'll have some extra cash. Gatewood went for less than $500K over slot at #41. Harrison was $700K over slot, but he had a football scholarship.
  25. What are thoughts on Kevin Gowdy? Seems to have a good feel for pitching for a HS kid, and at 6'4" 170 he certainly has room to develop and add velocity.
