  1. What needs to be tossed overboard is Jeffress. They should stop wasting thier time on this reclamation project, cut thier loss, and move on. I think players like that are nothing but trouble more often than not. It's just not worth it. The few that do make it to the bigs hardly ever realize thier potential and end up as journeymen at best. Sorry, but I've seen these things happen over and over again throughout the years, Hope I'm totally wrong and hope he gets it together, but I just don't ever seeing him panning out very well. I don't care how much the Brewers have invested in him.I don't care how well he can light up a radar gun. Let him be some other organizations headache.I feel the Brewers will be even more sorry if they don't
  2. If Yost is a bad manager and needs to be fired as many claim, then shouldn't Melvin be fired for making the bad decision of retaining such a lousy manager in Yost?
  3. Could this low ranked defensive team win with an additional brutal defensive player out there next year? Swapping Jenkins decent glove with Bonds glove instead can't be a real confidence boost for the Brewers pitchers out there.
  4. Sure seems like the FO has gotten rid of a lot of minor leauge pitchers this year via trade, etc.. Plus who knows about Jeffress as well. I fear they may become a bit pitching thin in the minors at some point. In Doug we trust I guess.
  5. I don't think many would be ripping Hall if he were putting up these stats as a utility player like he used to be. Then many would say what a nice luxury it is to have a utility player with some pop in his bat like Hall's.Over 10 HR's,over 30 doubles from a utility infielder. Not bad at all . I think many are down on him simply because of the stats that go along with the position he plays. It's not his fault CF was thrust upon him.
  6. Where is everyone who wanted Hardy out of the #2 spot earlier this year? Supposedlytoo many plate disipline issues .Swings at too many bad pitches to be an ideal #2 hitter. Now he's been batting 2nd again at times. Where's the uproar? I'm glad that he's now batting higher than 8th.I'm just not so sure I like him batting 2nd again. Corey serves this team well batting 5th as others have suggested. He just might serve this team even better by batting 2nd.
  7. What I don't like is that the future "core" of this team are the ones that are mainly responsible for this mess.
  8. Nothing wrong with Hart batting 5th as you point out,but I like the Weeks and Hart combo at the top of the order with thier stolen base potential. What I don't like is Hardy still in the 8th spot, but that's another topic.
  9. So what does Corey Hart have to do with all of this?
  10. Why is Melvin considered "the best thing to happen to this organization in years"?.Looks like different faces in the FO over the years, different short and long term plans possibly, but the same old results regarding W-L records.Just curious .And please,no more carrot on the stick mentalites of be patient on here please. That got old 15 years ago.
  11. Why not make Nashville your favorite team.I'm not so sure they couldn't kick the Brewers behinds right now.Or at least take 2 out of 3.
  12. Do you think ticket sales will fall off next year if this season goes down the tubes? In spite of last years lousy season, attendence has been better this year.
  13. According to some on here,Attanasio is a hands off owner when it comes to personel decisions and leaves it up to Doug. As an example and regardless of what some may claim,he had no influence on Melvin to sign Suppan supposedly. All player and coaching personel decisons are up to Melvin. Which makes me curious about this original post. So whay are some calling for Attanasio to fire Yost? Wouldn't that be strictly up to Melvin, and Melvin alone if Attanasio is not a meddlesome owner?
  14. Kirk Gibson won an MVP with only 25 homers and 76 rbi's . Willie Stargell won an MVP(co-MVP actually) with only 82 rbi's. It is possible for Braun to win an MVP without bigger numbers than his competiton. The requirement for MVP is most "valuable",not who has the biggest stats. Why not strongly consider Braun?
  15. I would boo the 1919 Black Sox.They deserve to be booed. But Wes Helms?Geez people.Get a life.
  16. I remember many pre season predictions of bigger and better things for Jenkins in 07. The rationale being he couldn't do much worse than last year,he can only be better..He'll be more comfortable back in LF.He'll be highly motivated to get that final year of his contract picked up.He doesn't want to be stigmitized as a platoon player quite yet. He'll have more of a fire in his belly to prove his detractors wrong. His last shot at the playoffs as a Brewer possibly..He might not put up all star caliber numbers, but he should show some decent improvement over last year, etc, etc. Look for a better year out of him. 20+ HR's,80 RBI's,.290+ Average ,Maybe even better. Sound reasoning to me ,but is he doing better than last year at this point? Last year he averaged a home run every 28 atbats. This year it's better .A home run every 20 atbats, though he rarely hits against lefties. He averaged a strikeout every 3.75 at bats last year. This year it 's one every 3.5 at bats. OBP percentage.last year .357,this year .334. SLG.up a bit at .471 vs 434. OPS. 8.05 so far vs 7.91 last year. BA..261 so far vs. .271 last year. Most of his stats are either a little up or a little down from last year, but not much difference from last years performance. Just makes me curious as to whether he has lived up to everyone's expectations, predictions, etc, whether this year is an improvement over 06,or were you expecting more. (added tag --1992)
  17. That's the first time that I've heard of a pitchers durability being a liability.
  18. Suppans hot start early this year is a big reason this team is still hovering around the 1st place mark. The Brewers might be way behind the Cubs right now if it wasn't for his early sucess. For that you can applaud Melvin or Attanasio for signing the guy.Well at least for this year anyways.
  19. Shoeless Joe hit .408 in his first full year. Not sure if that season qualifies as a rookie year. Grover Alexander won 28 games as a rookie. I'd be happy if Sheets reached half of that total.
  20. Anyone spotted running off the field gives a rumour credibility? I saw a groundskeeper run off the field as well. Maybe both teams are getting a guy who can really rake.
  21. Targeting a player who is an improvement seems more important than targeting a player simply because he has "playoff experience".
  22. I can't wait for tonites game, for it should either quiet some of the Sheets doubters ,or bring up more debatet about his #1 ace status. According to many here,a true ace will stop a losing skid.Consistently.Even if he is going against the opposing teams ace. The Brewers have not been winning much lately, and John Smoltz is on the mound for the Braves tonite. So no excuses for Ben tonite.Either he gets a convincing win tonite,or may the jury still be out on his status as a #1 ace. A real crucible in my opinion for Ben tonite . .
