That is a good point and i would be interested to hear the thought process behind it as well I've thought this as well. It comes to mind every time I see it. It's so stupid. There shouldn't be any reward for swinging at a pitch in the dirt. From wikipedia. Dumb.

I say this all the time, but the dropped third strike rule is the dumbest rule in baseball. Who came up with it? What was the reasoning behind it? What's the point in rewarding hitters who swung at pitches that weren't close?

Ugh. 98 pitches isn't that much. I'd rather see Parra here against Hosmer, but then again he did his job last night so there's no need for him to pitch again.

On top of the whole Conrad being the first pinch hitter off the bench thing, I'm still confused as to why Green wasn't used to pinch hit for Maysonet in the 10th with two on and two out. Against a tough right handed pitcher no less. He truly was outmanaged by a guy who had Betancourt bat 2nd.

I know this is all over the IGT, but pulling Parra after about as easy a 1-2-3 inning you can have in favor of Loe when 2 of the next 4 Royals hitters are lefthanded is pretty befuddling to say the least. I know he can't be blamed for the pen's poor performance in general this year, but that was a head scratcher for sure.

I'll be very curious to hear his thoughts on why he pulled Parra, if he even gets asked that question. And in all honesty, I think I would've rather Loe been kept in than go to Veras there. Loe was putting them on a tee, but maybe they'd luck into a lineout DP or something. I feel like it was 50/50 Veras was going to walk in the winning run. Obviously not going to blame Roenicke for that though.

Yes. Francoeur had to have run about 10x longer than Betancourt.

Roenicke's reasoning for batting Hart 5th is that he's not going to get enough RBI's leading off and he wants to get him RBI opportunities. However, putting Hart fifth automatically means putting Gomez 2nd, thus resulting in fewer potential baserunners for Corey Hart.

So 85% of people who play? All I've ever really done is filled in for teams and that's been enough for me. Some people just can't get over the fact they weren't good enough to make it past the freshman hardball team I guess.

I think Edwin Jackson walked 8 though. 5 isn't nearly as bad. Also it's just cool that it happened to a good guy/fantastic pitcher. Especially when he missed all of last season.
