I don't really get this at all for Cleveland. Are they expecting to contend in the next couple years? He'll probably be 35 by the time they have a chance to compete. -

For the people saying the Angels only have him for 10 starts...what are the chances they'd resign him? I think LA was one of the places Greinke said he could see pitching in. Obviously they have some big contracts but I know Hunter's gone after this year and I want to say Haren's is up too.

Btw here's Keith Law on Hellwig before the season. On Hellweg: Hellweg has always had a huge fastball but couldn't locate anything, walking more than a man an inning from his pro debut until the Angels moved him from the bullpen to the Inland Empire rotation in early June. After the transition, he wasn't exactly Greg Maddux, but his control went from grade-20 to 45, to the point that he's now a real prospect instead of a curiosity.

A quick google search of Ariel Pena results in the first link being an article titled "Is Angels Ariel Pena the new K-Rod?" Hopefully they mean 22 year old and not 32 year old.

I know he's supposed to be really good defensively, but a career .346 OBP for a 22 year old shortstop is just as encouraging. Wonder who the pitchers are.

Funny that you’re doing that pitchleague, because after watching all 3 of the Nolan Batman’s last week, I started to go through the Burton/Keaton ones this week. I don’t know if it’s a generational difference (I was 1 when the ’89 version came out), but I was extremely disappointed in Batman. And I don't even think it's because I'm comparing it to the recent three; even without the comparison it just isn't very good. Michael Keaton is about as stiff as you can get, Vicki Vale’s character development was pretty much non-existent considering she played a pretty big role, the writing was pretty poor, and I thought Jack Nicholson was just completely average. I couldn’t believe when I read that he and Michael Keaton were on AFI’s 100 Years…list for best villains and heroes. I thought Batman Returns was better less cringe-worthy. At least the female lead had a better backstory; though some of the lines written for Catwoman were pretty awful. Danny DeVito wasn’t good either, but again some of the script for him was pretty brutal. At least Christopher Walken was in it. What’s funny to me is I read that many people didn’t like the “dark” tone the first two took, which is why Batman Forever and Batman & Robin are much more cartoony. Can’t wait to check those out.

Ransom/Gomez Granderson is out for the Yankees today, so instead of Girardi just plugging in some scrub hitter to bat 2nd (if that exists on the Yankees) he just moved up Tex to #2 along with everyone else moving up one. I'm in no way comparing the Brewers offense to the Yankees, but it's the same concept.

At this point, "LuCroy" should result in ban consideration Craig Coshun pronounces Lucroy's name like LaCroix drinking water. He also seems to add a's to names that don't have them: Dayan ViciAdo for the White Sox, or Aramis RamArez.

Why would you only have Greinke throw 1,2, or 3 innings? Or am I missing something here.

Jose Veras has 28 appearances this year in which he's thrown a full inning. He's allowed at least one baserunner in 23 of those 28 innings. I guess I'm not really sure what's average, but that seems to be one way of quantifying how awful he's been. Sorry, I know this doesn't really add anything to the discussion but I figured it was better than talking about Axford's twitter.

That was so stupid I am literally speechless. Is it Roenicke or Jerry Narron that shifts the infield defense? I'm not watching right now so I can't comment on that individual play, but the propensity to move the infield around is one of the few things I like about Roenicke.
