  1. I would make that trade in a heartbeat. Hunter is having a career year, and I'd expect him to keep playing exceptionally hard. We'd probably move Hall to LF however, as Jenkins has been dreadful lately. I do think that Hunter would provide some more spark to this offense which seems a bit dead on its feat (yes I know we've been scoring more runs lately) Braun-Fielder-Hunter could be a pretty good trio.... and if Hart/Hardy can get things going at the top... Hall/Estrada/Graffy at the bottom I really like Manny Parra.... but I make this deal if I'm Doug... Hunter is 2 guaranteed picks at season's end
  2. the *drumroll* two time, World Champion, Minnesota Twins (technically 3 world series if you count 1924 while in Washington) Santana and Mauer... legends in the making
  3. I'm no expert on minor league baseball, actually not even at the tenderfoot level http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif, but this certainly would weaken us a bit.... However, if we keep drafting well, we should be in the top half/top third of systems for the foreseeable future. (We need to be to stay competitive) Losing minor league talent to graduation hurts the system, but eventually, we'll stop losing our post-arbitration players to free-agency and the compensation picks will help us "re-load" By virtue of not being "terrible", we won't have a block of top-5, top-10 overall MLB draft picks for awhile, and therefore might not have an "impact" group of players like Hardy, Braun, Hart, Fielder, Yo for another 20-25 years, but there is no reason to think our farm system won't be one of the best run in baseball...
  4. www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=638825 Good to see my hometown win another title. I noticed the team is mostly underclassmen (only 3 seniors on the roster and 1 starter)... does anyone on that team project to be heavily scouted for the college ranks or maybe even a mid-round pick in next years minor league draft? Or is their 34-1 record and streamrolling of the state WIAA baseball tournament just a result of weak competition in the WIAA summer season? I remember the other West Bend School (East) produced a pretty good prospect (Ryan Rollinger) awhile back

  6. YAY HART!!!!!!!!!!!! Brewers Lead http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Now we gotta get outta here with a win and go for the sweep this weekend! Man, Hart, Weeks, Hardy have been frigid lately... Rickie Weeks is starting to remind me of Corey Patterson
  7. Lock the guy up and throw away the key... Guys like this gives athletes a bad name... Makes me appreciate the high character guys playing for the Brewers & Twins
  8. Its pretty funny to think that alot of people (circa 2001) thought Loretta was overpaid in 2001 (last year he was with us IIRC) Since that time, he's basically put up a .306/.365/.772 line, which has to be pretty close to the top (middle IF) group in MLB over that span. He's not a power guy, but probably as ideal #2 guy as I can think of.... If only we signed Loretta/Cirillo rather than CC and TG.... Granted CC and TG have played better since June 1st...
  9. Wow, Bonds attitude continues to amaze. (Paraphrased) "Barry, isn't it special to be chasing the record in the place where Hank Aaron set the record, Milwaukee"-"Nah, Milwaukee is just another city blah blah blah"- Bonds.... If I'm a HOF voter... there is absolutely 0% chance that I'd vote this guy into the HOF. He is a blemish on sports
  10. All Hail Craig... we got a real battle for the starting 2nd job today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BREWERS 5-0 !!!!!!!!!! Cmon Giants
  11. Woooooooooooo Gwynn..................slumpbusters! 1 out... Cmon Barry Bo...err Counsell
  12. The Brewers continue to get a runner on 2nd with no outs and fail to score... we MUST become more effective in getting that runner in if we are going to make the playoffs... and do well in the playoffs... If we are depending on Graffy homeruns for wins, we'll finish with 85 wins behind the 90-72 Cubs... you heard it here first... 91 wins to win the division
  13. Brewers up 2-0 .... Tony Gwynn with a seeing eye single.... Bottom of the 5th http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Graffy giving Weeks a run for his money. Granted, I've never been a Tony Supporter..... but he might be the most logical choice to be the "starter" right now http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  15. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Gwynn.... 1 pitch... one out...... cmon guys be patient
  17. I was just reading some of the off-topic thread about Mo Williams and it got me thinking. What if MLB went to a similar system as the NBA, with "maximum contracts" etc, and rules governing that the "home team" can pay a player much more than another team looking to pry him away could. Granted, there are more players (25 to 12), the use of a minor league system etc that don't exist in basketball, etc, but I'm wondering if this might be a good way to help keep Elite Players with Smaller Market clubs. I really doubt the Milwaukee Bucks (or other non top-5 teams) could keep their top players in the NBA unless they were allowed to pay significantly more than other bidding teams. While this might encourage mediocrity (see Milwaukee bucks resigning all the key components of a dreadful team last year), it also would hope to the Minnesota Twins and Milwaukee Brewers of the world (if applied to MLB) in efforts to keep players such as Santana, Hunter, Sheets, Lee, etc... Granted, teams would still need to pay massive amounts of $$$, but this would prevent teams from severely overpaying the market for mediocre talent, and would remove the "financial incentives" of going to a much bigger club... Thoughts? I will concede the the small market clubs in baseball the past 4-5 years have been much more competitive, (due to an excellent use of farm systems and superb general managers), but I think MLB could be even better if top players stayed with their clubs for their entire careers
  18. Without consulting recent stats, I'd have a very hard time calling Oswalt "average" since year in, year out he is a sub 3.00 ERA pitcher... However, I realize that might be more perception than reality and he is starting to age a bit... that and the Astros are old and plain "bad"... Didn't he just sign around a 6 year Megadeal relatively recently or is that a couple years old already?
  19. Hey Guys, Most of you know that I'm almost engaged (fingers crossed), so hopefully my dating life will be pretty "simple" from here on out.... though I doubt anyone has ever called marriage "simple". However, I'm trying to help out my best buddy and really can't make sense of this girl he's seeing. They went to school together (HS) and worked together back around HS Senior Year/Frosh Year of College. Fast forward about six years, and they just randomly ran into each other about six weeks ago and have been hanging out 2-3 times a week since.... I'd say she's a pretty confident girl, but definitely somewhat shy with his (our) friends group. I know she will frequently spend the night 1-2 times a week ( i know since I'm my buddy's roommate), yet she seems distant at times and doesn't always accept his invitations to hang with the group or go out together. Is this girl just busy/independent, or just plain confusing (spending 1 & 1 time, spending the night etc) but then ( not always accepting plans/being sometimes bad at returning phone calls)?
  20. Yay! CUBS LOSE... lead back to 6 games.... Time to make it 6 1/2 again Boys
  21. Any BBS Alums here? I just went through some old stuff and found it amusing to find an old picture of my BBS city. City of Lewis 1999 here
  22. AL WEST = +22 NL WEST = +17 AL CENTRAL = +13 NL EAST = -3 AL EAST = -13 NL CENTRAL = -36 I'm fairly certain the NL Central is still (by far) the worst division in baseball though the AL CENTRAL, AL WEST, and NL WEST are pretty much a tossup for the toughest division (I'd say AL Central who probably have three of the top five teams in the AL in that division)
  23. Haha yeah.... Scrubs still 7.5 games back even after a 6 game winning streak! Poor Yankees/Cubs... go on major streaks and make up little/no ground on their division leaders.... there is always next year
  24. I LOVE THIS TEAM! Way to go Miller! Wins it with his arm and his bat!
