  1. Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh Just Missed It Cmon Billy.... no hot dogging....... run run run
  2. Wow.... way to use 30 pitchers Garner.... Mark Loretta will be pitching soon http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Hmmmmm Era = 7.00+ OBA = 3.12 We should tag this guy....
  4. Man.... i thought for sure we'd take it in the 10th.... i have a bad feeling about the 11th.... Bush staying out there?
  5. Here comes a Fielder HR to win it http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I feel really good about this inning.... EDIT- Thought Hart was leading off...
  6. T-BOW is my Hero! K K K (what a great inning)
  7. 4-0 Cubs... Yikes.... we need this win today to finish the 8-1 homestand.... I know the Cubs haven't played well this year.... but their six game winning streak atleast shows what they are capable of
  8. Hey All, Assuming the Brewers and Cubs finish their sweeps today (I think we/they will), a Cubs series win this weekend (2-1 games) would get the Cubs back to .500 I'm not trying to start another "Here come the Cubs" thread, but many people had mentioned that they wouldn't even think about it until the Cubs reached .500 (which is very possible now by the all-star break) Unfortunately for the Cubs, we've gone 11-2 during their "hot streak" and they are still 7.5 games back. I think with 2-3 wins we can send them tumbling back toward 4-5 under and have a 10 game lead at the break.... Question would be: Since the Cubs play essentially the same (easy) schedule, will we have that "looking over your shoulder" effect in the second half if the Cubs are on the winning side of .500?
  9. For some strange reason, Vargas screams Victor Santos to me.... A great first half.... with a less than mediocre 2nd half.... and yes I know Vargas is much better than Santos
  10. The Cottage is over towards County Park.... I believe its the far Western Side of the lake The place (in my opinion) is an absolute steal at $850/week for June/September or $1200/week in July/August.... We have about 5-6 couples going to "share" it for a week, and it will be less than $200/couple for the week.... not to mention there are three bedrooms and three pullout couches.... plus the lake frontage/pier/boat landing Now if we can get past sharing 1 bathroom ....
  11. I was referring to Green Lake (up by Fond du Lac) which is a pretty big lake isn't it (i know its the deepest in Wisconsin), though compared to the great lakes its tiny... Lakes I'd take a boat on.... probably like Whitewater Lake, maybe Lake Geneva, Green Lake, Big/Small Cedar Lake... Basically recreational boating/sailing.... not looking at the Great Lakes much if at all... And yeah, I know a boat can take up ALOT of space and $$$$ if its not being used.... but i figure my late 20s is the best time of life to use a boat, and life will probably get too busy once I have kids to use it much.... I figure this is my last "hurrah" with my 20 something yuppie friends before we "grow up", get married, and have kids...
  12. I'm going on record and predicting a 3-1 win and another Sheets complete game... Of course every game I've seen Sheets pitch this year has been a complete game
  13. Good Morning All, Thought I'd throw out a little Monday Morning Discussion. I just made plans to rent a Cottage on Green Lake for a week next summer and now (in addition to everything else going on in life) would like to plan to have a speedboat/sailboat to start next summer. My questions: #1- Sailboat or Speedboat? I don't have any kids and the focus right now would be enjoying the lake with 20 something friends. #2- New or Used? I have no idea what a decent sailboat costs, but I have found a couple 17' Bayliner Runabouts new for about 11-12K I figure a new boat/7 year (typical boat loan) is $181/mo at 7% #3- Costs? (any that I'm missing) Boat/Trailer Cost Equiptment (Tubes, Skis, Ropes etc) Spare Props/Anchor etc Boat Insurance (approx $250/yr) / WI License Fuel Costs Bigger Car to Haul Boat #4- Rent space in a Marina (keep boat in the water), or haul it to/from every use THANKS!
  14. Hey All, Nothing immediate, but I'd say its likely within the year that I'll be possibily looking at engagement rings. Just wondering what the social "norms" are for that process... Obviously, I'm trying to cleverly determine what kinds/types of rings/cuts she likes, but I guess the biggest question right now is what I should spend. I have a pretty good job (per the other thread) might be getting a promotion soon, and usually save some $$$ per month (for bigger purchases/eventually a house). I'm just wondering how much I should expect to spend. The girl is a professional as well, successful, and likes nice things, but I wouldn't really say she's flashy/all about Jewelry. I want to get something nice, and something that she'll appreciate, without underspending the magnitude of the gesture, though without completely bankrupting myself. Did the old "rule of thumb" use to be "2 months salary" or is that a thing of the past. Also, if that is what i'm looking at, then my budget is probably $7-8K. What kind of ring can I get for that? Any specific place you'd recommend. THANKS MUCH!
  15. Its like Coco and Turnbow have switched bodies the past year
  16. Wow... Yost ruins a GREAT start by Yo 6IP 1 ER ........ 94 pitches... you need to take him out Yost leaves him in.... he gives up two more runs.... Giants score 3... and Billy Hall commits an absolutely careless error Wow, we were playing GREAT tonight, but Yost/Hall doing everything to blow it.... Again, I wonder how GREAT we might be with an above mediocre manager
  17. Hey All, I think we had a similar discussion a few weeks back about jobs, but I could use your input. I work for a public organization where I am #2 in the organization. I decided to go with a smaller & more local organization right out of graduate school to get more "all around experience" and also since it was a more attainable position for my first "Professional/Administration Position". I get along great with my other administrators and love the staff, but my direct supervisor (the Executive Director) has poor management skills and really is unapproachable for most of the staff.... This naturally has caused tension, but I'm "dealing" as some would say. I've been with the organization three months and have a contract through August 15th. As some point in the next four weeks, I likely will be offered a new contract for August 16-August 15, 2008. The demand in my field is VERY HIGH at the moment. There are roughly 250 people with my state license, and roughly 15 jobs concurrently open in Wisconsin. I'm looking at two other organizations, larger than the one I'm at right now, for a comparable #2 position, albeit with a likely salary bump from $50K/year to $75-80K. Two questions: 1) As a young professional (25), will I look to be "arrogant" or "unreliable" if I leave this current position after 4-5 months (will finish my original signed contract) 2) Will the other organizations be likely to give me more consideration (that they would have straight out of school), as I've been (objectively speaking) very successful in my first administration role (albeit I've only been there 4-5 months). I'm not "leaving" the current position unless I have another "better offer", but am I out of line for discussing a new position with other organizations on my free time? I am very motivated, and the salary/position/organization would be a "step up" from where I'm at right now. Would the organization recognize this and realize that this is what happens to young successful people who have GOOD jobs but have opportunities at GREAT jobs after getting a little more experience... Your advice is GREATLY appreciated
  18. This wasn't the "leading story", but they did mention that a 4 inch tear in the heat shield was detected this afternoon in space. Fingers crossed for quick/effective repairs. I thought I remembered something to the effect that after Columbia, they do the damage check and then are high enough in orbit that they can evacuate to the international space station
