  1. The following was posted July 6 on the Brewers' website: Don't forget: Fans who received a voucher for a Charlie Moore bobblehead on Friday, April 6, may now redeem it at Miller Park ticket window No. 6 during regular business hours on non-home game days only. On Monday through Saturday home game days, fans may also redeem vouchers at guest relations but only after gates open to the public. Bobbleheads will only be distributed to fans who present vouchers. Link to whole "notes" article Just a heads-up for any of you with a Charlie Moore bobble voucher. This may also indicate how long it'll take before the vouchers for later bobbles can be redeemed.
  2. http://www.cssbeauty.com/archives/img/seventytwo.jpg I'd followed Brian's pattern of posting this at the end of the last IGT (so it's there too). Keep up the good work, Brewers!
  3. I'll step up in Brian's absence... http://www.cssbeauty.com/archives/img/seventytwo.jpg
  4. Later that week he will drop the appeal and apologize to his family and fan. Do you get the feeling that there may really be only one fan? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Are we declaring pink/fuchsia night a success now?
  6. Everybody shout, "let's go Bucs!"
  7. The biggest thing is for the Brewers to take care of their own business. Huzzah for Corey! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif
  8. I did a double take on the box score when i saw the ChiSox had committed 5 errors. That is absolutely fantastic. Five errors? That's awesome, because it's worse than the Brewers' effort on Tuesday.
  9. I'm assuming we'll see Jenkins, Hart, and Mench in the outfield tonight? Sounds plausible. One little part of me is anticipating a few new OF platoon nicknames over the next week or two, like Grench or Gwynch. Either makes me want to sing "You're a mean one, Mr. Gwynch (or Grench)."
  10. There was this passage I read once, maybe 15 years ago, that I believe was written by Ted Williams and was an intro into a book about Roberto Clemente. I've never been able to find it again, though I've tried, but for some reason, that passage has always lingered with me when I think about baseball. It was a brilliant description of the game. There's a beauty and history to the game, that other sports just don't have. I just checked the stacks at the library where I work and I wonder if this isn't the passage: There's more to the introduction, but that is the part credited to Williams. This is from Clemente!, written by Kal Wagenheim and published in 1973. (And if you want to know how to borrow our copy, send me a PM.)
  11. My fond memories of Rob Picciolo just took a hit. But otherwise it's a fun read.
  12. Technically, I suppose the suspension still leaves SD short-handed - hoping, for example, that they don't reach the 21st inning in any of those games. But some fairly uncommon stuff has to happen in order for it to become a practical hardship - so, yeah, I wouldn't mind if the suspension were longer for starting pitchers, or start-related (have to miss X starts).
  13. Take me out to where the Pirates play Catch the sights, cheer the plays, feel the glory of yesterday Centerfield, grand slams, fans and Cracker Jack Crowd cheers, I don't care if I ever get back I listen to the game with my radio on Clap along to the rhythm of a Bucco song Two aboard, full count with nobody out Stomp your feet, line drive everybody shout Root, root, root for our home team A new Pirate generation everybody shout, "Let's Go Bucs!" These are lyrics to "A New Pirate Generation," which (at least) used to be played before games in the early years of PNC. It was moderately catchy when we visited and actually made me hope the Pirates won. (Of course, we saw them playing The San Francisco Giants Featuring The Barry, so it was easy to root for the home team that night.) Anyway, I'm with igor. May the Pirates not turn back into a pumpkin until after Sunday.
  14. If Hall is out for a long time we need to make a trade for a righthanded hitting outfielder to replace him. Well, this roster move could easily be a stopgap while Doug cases out the best deal. So I don't think this precludes a trade. I hope Corey remains in the leadoff spot, though.
  15. Ah, Russ, the statistics you've posted the last day or so have soothed my Brewers spirit. Thanks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Psst, Brewers! You're out of PNC for a couple of months now. Things can only get better.
  16. I didn't have the heart to ask yesterday, but are the cub message boards rejoicing over Bill's injury?
  17. I'm glad you still love baseball after the last few days. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif When I began to follow the Brewers in 1982, I certainly wasn't in the "key demographic" or whatever the marketing term is - I was a 16 year old, barely athletic girl (I've got a problem with small hard objects being hurled at me - though I did play volleyball, so I wasn't a total slug). I admit, I was lured in by the home runs and the winning that season. I also believe that (like many teenagers) I wanted an interest that was not like everyone else's, and the Brewers became my alternative to following the Packers. Obviously, I've stuck with it. As for the game in general...to me, baseball is an orderly sport, and I've always liked order. You have the batting orders, the fielding arrangements, the rotation pattern. There's much you can predict in the game, but every game is still unique. Home runs are exciting (for your team, at least), but I just as much enjoy pitchers' duels and not only web gem defense, but regular solid defense too. I became more interested in game strategy after the Brewers' move to the NL (and obviously my participation in this site has helped too). Also, baseball has become a slight underdog over the course of my lifetime (compared to the attention the NFL gets, for example), and I still like to root for the underdog. I bet I'll think of more later, but there's a start. Good topic, Jason.
  18. SlideBernieSlide, what's the story behind your avatar? I don't mean to hijack the IGT but curiosity has got the better of me.
  19. Is that 21 or 20 now for Corey? Edit: Never mind, just confirmed it. 21. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif
  20. Hey, at least Damian put 10 more pitches on Gorzelanny. Thanks for averting the shutout, guys. Don't think you have to stop there or anything.
  21. Seriously, is mikevan back in the bathroom? That'd be some weird kind of karma. Either way, I'll take it.
  22. Midway through Thursday's game, I suddenly feel quite good about the "work" work I'm supposed to be doing. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif Sorry; silver-lining-wise, that's all I've got.
  23. Did the Brewers make the baseball gods unhappy recently? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Edit: About all I can think of to say now is, go Nats. Tonight. (hawing said halfheartedly)
  24. But then again I am no George Graphos Ahh, you've taken me straight back to my Green Bay days in the early 1990s! http://wbay.images.worldnow.com/images/8638_BG1.jpg
  25. that will be cool to get to go onto the field and not get arrested! I hope you don't have that kind of past incident for comparison.
