Ted Williams had just died, so yeah, they painted his number in LF and renamed the MVP award for him. But here's part of the JSOnline account of what I remembered: The ceremony included a tribute to memorable moments in baseball history, with appearances by Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and Cal Ripken Jr. Aaron, baseball's all-time home run king who played for both the Milwaukee Braves and Brewers, received a lengthy standing ovation. Link to whole JSOnline story I don't know how I managed to forget those "memorable moments", since they were jammed down our throats for the length of the balloting period, as well as during that pregame ceremony. Plus I believe the seat cushions they provided for that game bear the Memorable Moments logo.
