  1. Well, 20fry, based on the information you've provided, I think you're well within reason to complain about the service you received. I'd imagine your ticket rep can direct you to whoever oversees the front-line guest relations staff. I'd be interested to know what their response is. It frustrates me when I'm stopped from doing something and the person "in charge" won't explain why, even when I ask. I realize that some customers are so stubborn or so 'don't get it' that explaining does no good - you have to just repeat over and over what they have to do - but I don't know that that means an employee should refuse to answer a reasonable question, asked reasonably.
  2. Q: What doesn't completely fit into today's crapfest, but is technically true nonetheless? A: http://www.computercloset.org/Commodore_64_Box.jpg
  3. I am tired of using bleach to scrub my brains off the ceiling. Brains? Eww!
  4. And there was much rejoicing. Yaaaay. This thread was just on view 666. I hope I've changed the number.
  5. Yeah Ramirez, charge the mound, I'd love to seat you take a seat for 5 games. This game is underway already? Aw, crap. Actually, my first thought upon reading that quote above was, would MLB ever get around to making him serve a suspension? Who's starting the cub curse thread? Kind of like a rain dance, only with a cubs slump as the desired end result.
  6. It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall at MP this week as the staff prepared for the SF circus series. Barry's home run pursuit, like it or not, is both high-profile and controversial - surely more than anything else that has happened in Miller Park. Hank Aaron got death threats as he approached 715. I imagine the same has happened to Barry. In that context, MP employees have probably received very specific instructions on what to enforce this weekend (beyond the usual). We don't know what instructions they got on *how* to enforce. It sounds like 20fry had to deal with an overly rigid employee, or else someone who was instructed to be overly rigid. I'd say your request to be escorted through was not unreasonable, and for them to threaten arrest when you didn't actually bolt through or anything sounds like an overreaction. Signage in that area, or some kind of advance word, saying that only bleacher/SRO ticketholders are allowed to even walk through might be useful. If it's that big a concern 90 minutes prior to the game, on an autograph night that you know is going to draw fans to the field level early, put up a barricade and station enough people to allow for ticket checking. That poster should not have been allowed in the park to begin with. It crosses the heckling line.
  7. I have to admit, every time I open this thread I look at the phrase Dunn Rumor (Dead) and it looks like Adam Dunn has left this world.
  8. I haven't changed it yet. I was going to take suggestions through at least the weekend. The thought of manufacturing negative mojo for the Cubs is very tempting, but I have to use this password several times per workday. I don't think I want to be typing that 'four letter word' so often. As per casey's suggestion, I may keep the end result a secret until later. Not to keep you all in suspense, but I didn't broadcast my password support of JJ and Corey previously, and look how it turned out for them at the time. If I'm going to be relentlessly superstitious, I should stay consistent.
  9. LS Brewer, that whole post might be worth copying to the Silver Lining Thread.
  10. If you want your password to really be safe, combine two players and their uniform numbers. And capitalize something in the middle of the names. Fear not, casey - we get bombarded with "strong password" instructions all the time. I've got that down. The challenge, for me, is keeping track of the character limits for each of a variety of passwords. But I manage. I'm enjoying the suggestions so far. Keep them coming!
  11. This isn't a good sign. I had a dream that Soup gave up back to back grand slams in 8 straight batters, bringing the game to 10 - 8. They bring in Bush who gives up another one.. and we lose 29 - 10. NOOO! Relax, Sgt; that math doesn't even add up. Plus I had a dream earlier this season about the Brewers losing by a similarly goofy margin, and it didn't happen. Come on, Brewers. Make some hay this weekend and don't let the circus freak get to you!
  12. Watching this game so far, I can't believe we lost to Arizona. I'll take some responsibility for that. Doug Davis tends to do well in games I attend. It's tempting to ponder the "error payoff" theory.
  13. So this must be why the Squeeze Play for Thursday's game was done with "commentary" taped by Craig Coshun, obviously after Wednesday night's game. "And here's the starting lineup for Ned Yost's Brewers." (followed by a cut to a lineup graphic with no voiceover) Doesn't explain why the Squeeze Play coverage started in the third inning. I was hoping to see a replay of Ryan's RBI. Well, bye, Ann. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
  14. I'm putting this in off-topic because although it involves major leaguers, it's really a frivolous question: One of my passwords (unrelated to this site) requires a change every 60 days. For the last few changes, I've based the password on a Brewer who has then gone on to have a hot streak (JJ to start the season, followed by Corey Hart). Which Brewer do you think needs my password mojo the most now? I've got 10 days to decide and make the change. Thanks for your suggestions. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. I could see Bonds trying to hit two tonight. That would mean he got 755 in Milwaukee on July 20, 31 years to the day after Aaron got 755, in Milwaukee. Then the question would be whether he played any more in the series - so as to improve the chance of his hitting the big'un in SF. If he did reach 755 early in this series (sorry, Soup), it would be interesting to see how SF reacted if, for example, Saturday's game went to extra innings and they ran low on position players. And wouldn't a Sunday getaway day game be a natural for him to sit out of anyway? in which case ESPN would have no interest. (Edited to add ESPN coverage content and thus make the post actually relevant to this thread.)
  16. That reminds me. I met Laurel Prieb in the stairwell at MP once. I smiled and he said hello. A now-former employee saw Bud Selig at Gilles before a game, probably in 2002 or so. My student didn't say anything, but Bud noticed him looking and gave him "the nod" (acknowledging being recognized) before heading back to his black Lexus. I wish I had some better obscure Brewers stories.
  17. we know our custard and cheese curds Plus he's on the board of directors for my employer. Useless factoid of the day for everyone but me.
  18. Link to Archie McPhee catalog Somehow this makes me think of this site. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. The account in Friday's Wisconsin State Journal seems to target the Cincinnati blogger: Link
  20. Ernie pops out, sees us both, and says "Hey! The Janesville kids! I didn't think I'd see you guys here!" That is seriously cool.
  21. maybe it's security-related, and it's something that the Brewers put up with during the Buckethead era. That'd be my guess. And Geno, I've never lived in Chicago. It was the "crocheted beer can hat" part that triggered my memory, and made me wince.
  22. Sure he'd then end up batting .750 for the second half and become MVP of the League. And what would be wrong with this, if he did it as a Brewer? Take one for the franchise, man! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. I'm stunned that you didn't get a Mench tee. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif But hey, we'll be able to spot each other at the ballpark now. At least on the days when I opt for the Villa T.
  24. Perhaps the Cubs believe that Jack Wilson is the magic bullet, the last piece needed to bring down the Brewers once and for all. There's something horribly poetic to the notion. Horrible for me, at least.
  25. I was actually the one that made the highlights song from the 2005 season. Well, I for one am glad you did. I played that many a time during the 05-06 off-season, and even some during this past offseason. My favorite part was when Sharpie struck out Derrek Lee for the fourth time in a game. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
