  1. That is sweet. Sorry, Madison softball, but if Prince starts the ASG I'm watching it live instead of you. I hope you'll understand.
  2. I saw you in the concourse! I noticed the DAD 1 shirt you described. Without a more overt brewerfan connection, it's hard to just ask an otherwise-stranger who they are. Unless you're parkside21. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Is it kosher for site staff to submit something?
  4. I am 2-0 with him on my lap. All I can say is, keep Owen close. Keep. Owen. Close. And congratulations.
  5. Given the forecast heat and humidity the next few days, I was enjoying the snowy look to that photo.
  6. We thought it was awesome doing spontaneous cheering/clapping because the fans knew to do it without a scoreboard telling them to. It has been a LONNNNNGGG time for me at the ballpark getting to take part in that (darn you, Dbacks and your fans that don't know when to cheer unless the jumbotron tells you to!) Ehh, to be fair, there are enough times when Brewers fans stay quiet until they're "told to" make noise. But there has been more spontaneity this season, which is awesome. These last two games of ours (both of the Yo starts) have featured appreciative crowds who have been into the game from the start.
  7. And finally: Lamp, I'm really glad your kitty's back. I was hoping for that. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. Ahhh, where to begin? Steve267268, I swear, I was asking the Brewers to win it for you. For pitchleague too. (You've got another game in town, though, haven't you, pitch?) I tied my season record by meeting four bf.net posters today. In addition to TheBwaz, I met wisconsinfan47, pitchleague and hammytime. I was happy to meet each of you and it's always good to be able to put more names to faces. My game thoughts: I'm really enjoying Gallardo - even though I feel like a gangsta every time I tell him something. "C'mon, strike him out, Yo" sounds an awful lot like urban dictionary talk. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I seem to have a reputation around here for being level-headed and perhaps more optimistic than the average bear. But I want Capellan gone. I don't much care where, as long as it's elsewhere and as long as it's soon. Given my history of impatience with poor relief work, you'd think I'd have written off Turnbow some time ago. But I'm more just disappointed by his stint today. I'd like Ned to realize that when Derrick doesn't have it, he doesn't have it right out of the gate, and to shorten his leash accordingly. Spurling, I could sometimes do without, but he didn't do as badly given what he was handed. And I have nothing new to contribute on the topic of what could have been done with Villa. Of course, the bats could have made a lot of this relief angst moot. That said, I definitely gave up a vocal cord for Corey in the 9th, and appreciate the bonus baseball he made possible. I'm quite ready for a Sheets start Monday. Stay in the game a while, Ben. Finally, on to my bobblehead story at which TheBwaz hinted: We got our Bill Hall bobbles upon entry without incident. In the concession line upstairs, I was waiting behind a multi-generational family with a grandpa type who was muttering as follows: Grandpa: Bobblehead? I don't need no (blanking) bobblehead. (sees me) You want a bobblehead? hawing (knee jerk reaction, because we got two when we entered): No thanks, I'm good. hawing (after rethinking): Unless you're giving it away. Grandpa: Well, yeah. I'm not selling this. (hands bobblehead over) So now I have a retro Bill Hall bobble with pink bat. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif And I owe some of this good fortune to pitchleague and hammytime, because if they hadn't stopped by when they did, I would have gotten food earlier and missed the opportunity.
  9. Ah, steve, you'll be with us in spirit. I'll ask Yo and the gang to do well for you.
  10. And if I may add... Dodger fan: You guys came out of nowhere! Jeff Suppan: No, we're from Milwaukee. Nice choice, wisconsinfan47. I'm glad to see I'm not the only fan who idly watches "Brewers Str8tUp". http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Oh, my goodness. The Brewers have to win, for pitchleague! And the rest of us too. TB 417 for me and the S.O. Probably row 6 on the aisle, but it might be row 5. I'll either be wearing a bf.net "Knowledge = Power" shirt or a navy Hardy jersey tee. And pitch, if you see a dark red Camry with the "25s" sticker on the rear...that'd be us. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Go Brewers!
  12. The best part of this weekend is I'll be at the game tomorrow to watch Yo in person. I'm beginning to think Sunday's game will have a record number of bf.net posters at it. Even pitchleague!
  13. I must say, I'm a little disappointed that we haven't received an update from the reception. I know they have that Internet kiosk in the Union! Seriously, though, I hope you're having a great time. And the Brewers won for you!
  14. You have to like your chances tomorrow with Big Ben on the mound. Steve, it's Yo pitching Sunday.
  15. Are you doing these "magic number" image searches game by game, Brian, or do you have the next 81 ready to roll?
  16. Chicks dig the small ball. They do indeed, especially when it extends a winning streak. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. Congratulations. I'll go outside and wave soon. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif (The church where NMF is getting married is in the hawing 'hood.)
  18. But yeah, take that #84! Nuts. I graduated in 1984 and would have given Brian a picture of the numbers on my letter jacket (which I still have). But I'm not complaining about 83. No sir.
  19. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/pics/mike_caldwell_autograph.jpg Also known as Mr. Warmth!
  20. The bobble is Iron Mike Caldwell - actually one I'd trade for (though that's another post for another subforum). Go Brewers! I've got the rest of the year to root for Jorge.
  21. There's been no girl born in my 'immediate extended' family since 1898. Wow, Casey, that's quite a stretch. If anyone's thinking "oh good, hawing's posted, now we can get a female perspective"...you may be disappointed. Like pitchleague, I'm not enthusiastic about jewelry, and if the S.O. and I ever tie the knot, a wedding band would be more than enough for me. I'd rather put a four-figure sum toward house projects or the like. But even if I were more into jewelry, I'd want to be in on the selection of something I'm presumably going to be wearing for years. That would be more important to me than the momentary joy of a surprise proposal.
  22. Is it me, or has Padilla gotten worse every year he's been in the majors. He's the guy that wouldn't go back out to pitch in the ASG, causing Bud to call the tie, correct? Yes, Vicente Padilla is "that guy" from the all-star exhibition in 2002. For better or worse, I always think of that odd night when I hear his name. Edit: D'oh, top of the 9th in Texas and it's 5-5. But Rob Bowen, the new Cub, contributes by striking out. If only they still had Michael Barrett.
  23. How about starting each article in the Tracker thread, and if someone wants to start a discussion on one, start a separate thread called something like "Discussion: Woeffel 6/21/07 editorial"? A link to the Discussion thread could be added to the original Tracker post for the article in question. Just an offhand thought.
  24. Maybe it's just my irrational hatred of the Northsiders talking, but at this particular point in the season, I'll gladly trade a Cardinals win for a Cubs loss. Yeah, plus it might be extra vexing for cub nation that Sammy's bat made a difference in that game. At least KC going to extra innings might deplete them a bit for the weekend.
  25. Have fun with that whoever you are... Thanks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Brewers19 and I will be monitoring it as often as time permits. Our goal is to make at least some chat time available to more people.
