  2. I don't know about the Brewers in general, but a customary big second half from A-Ram should help. He's maybe the most notorious second-half player in baseball (as in, he has huge first-half/second-half splits), so him heating up plus Braun rebounding could be huge. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=ramirar01&year=Career&t=b I wondered if there was some selective perception going on here, so I went and looked at the numbers. .812 OPS in the first half in his career, and .883 OPS in the 2nd half. That's a pretty significant split to carry for a 17 year career. June, July, and August pretty heavily outdistance what he does in other months by a fair margin, so to be completely fair, it's not actually a complete "right down the middle" first half/second half split, but more of a summer months breakout. Either way you slice it, Rami has been hitting better since he came off the DL, and Braun has been hitting well again lately (albeit without much homerun power)
  3. I was thinking the same thing. You wish that you could keep that approach all year - even though the results won't always be there. Homeruns can be hard to come by.. and they've hit one solo one today. 8 runs by hitting the ball (for the most part) the other way is impressive. I think a lot of us are thinking this today. Hopefully the players are seeing it, and realizing it too.
  4. In a game where the starter was at 79 pitches through 7 innings........
  5. Amazing that Brauny is only 12 behind the league leader in RBI. He's missed a bunch of time, and has played all year with multiple nagging injuries.
  6. It's like on the last day before the break, these guys have realized "hey, I don't have to swing as hard as possible to get base hits" Just watching the swings, it's like there's a totally different approach at the plate from everyone. Unbelievable.
  7. Herrera 4 hit game. I knew this guy would produce a little bit. At least better than Bianchi..... (not that that would take much)
  8. Peralta cruising. Really needed this after that crap-fest against the Phillies. Like to see him finish this on his own if he can.
  9. That ball was about 4" off the ground and off the outside corner, and Brauny still managed to hook that into left field. And......wow. I thought Khris Davis didn't have an arm. Holliday can't throw. AT ALL.
  10. Braun has an .850-ish OPS, leads the team in RBI's, and has done this while being injured most of the year..... and the vitriol I see aimed at him on this board is pretty incredible. I can't imagine what would be said about him if he was putting up Holliday-like numbers.
  11. Nothing anyone does will matter in the steroid world (see: Melky Cabrera making a fake website) in the eyes of fan to make someone a bigger villain than Braun, until it's a bigger *name* than Braun. That's the ONLY thing that matters. Pujols, Tulowitzki, maybe Trout or Miggy..... I still see posts on ESPN about how Braun "ruined the collector's life" and "cost him his livelyhood", even though these are 100% false/inaccurate statements. Don't let truth get in the way of a good villainy story though.
  12. No predictions today. None of that. Just win. Go into the all star break, put this losing behind them......and take 4 days and clear their heads.
  13. My point isn't that I want K. Davis moved to the bench. The point is taking on 8 million dollars in salary to get a guy who's (virtually) the same player as Davis is not an area of need. Byrd's not a bench player, and we don't need an 8 million dollar 4th OF. We have other areas of need that are more pressing that I'd rather see our resources go towards.
  14. "the season" is a weird name for a family member. Or, you know, someone's actual family member.
  15. So you would rather be in last place and play for nothing than be in first place and go through a tough patch? Nice straw-man statement. Nobody said that at all.
  16. Not necessarily. Those teams had very little chance be competitive. This team showed that they could compete but now are just playing terribly. I was at loss 100 back in 2002 (as part of my 20-game pack at the time) and this team is more disappointing as of late because they actually had a chance. I went to Ruben Quevedo's first start as a Brewer...... http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIL/MIL200108040.shtml Check out that beauty of a box score.

  18. This stretch of baseball (1 - 10) has certainly been a train wreck.
  19. I can only surmise that all of these guys had the same little league coach, who taught them all at a young age, "Swing as hard as you possibly can, at every pitch"
  20. oh come on. It is along season. Even if they lose the series to the Cards if they get hot they can retake the lead I realize that. Right now, they're playing such terrible ball that watching is a waste of time. Right now, it feels like no matter what, they're going to find a way to lose, every single night. I can't watch this train-wreck/dumpster fire/20 care pile up/whatever you want to call it until/when they manage to pull out of the tailspin. Sports is entertainment, and it's no longer entertaining, it's just frustrating and un-fun.
