  1. I would absolutely not trade being a perennially good team with a shot at winning it all, for being someone like the Marlins, who have a title, and are perennially mediocre to terrible. Playoffs are extraordinarily random. It's a short series. The Dodgers went 0-6 vs. the Angels this year. That doesn't mean the Angels are better than the Dodgers, but they can beat them in a short series. 3, 5, and even 7 game series are fun for fans, but they don't prove that one team is better than another, especially.... especially in a sport as random as baseball. I *absolutely* want the Brewers to win a world series, but I'm not going to judge my enjoyment of baseball, the Brewers or the team's overall sustained success on a few random postseason series.
  2. Yeah this is where I'm at. If it was a 3 game series, I'd be pretty much "meh". But a five game series (as hard as that is to sweep) does give the Cubs a slight glimmer of hope to get back in the race if we were to stumble and lose 4-5 or even the whole shebang. I don't expect it... the Cubs offense has been mediocre for a while now, all I'm saying is a five game series is the one thing they have in their pocket that could get them back in it.
  3. Anderson's been fine this year. High usage middle reliever. He's obviously not a closer, and no matter how much people think that's no different than pitching the 6th inning, it's a different mindset. He's fine in his role, but closing isn't it.
  4. I like going with Myers. This isn't a must-win game. Go for the win, but not at the expense of gassing out guys who need to be available in September and October.
  5. All good things. Wonder if the boys are starting to press. Reset and come back strong without the streak in their heads.
  6. He's primarily a DH, and just crossed the .800 barrier for OPS. He might hit the top 10 (even that might be a stretch). I just don't see any way he even SNIFFS top five.
  7. so you've come to a conclusion with no evidence. Ignore any evidence that doesn't support your conclusion, and refuse to listen to any argument otherwise. Secondly, baseball just doesn't work like this. I realize as fans we're biased, but players should ABSOLUTELY not feel or be compelled to take "discounts" to stay with a team because they were done a solid for rehab or any other reason. MLB players earning potential is stunted for the first several years of their careers and while it's a lot more than the average Joe, it's still a tiny slice of the pie, proportionate to the revenue MLB generates. NOBODY should be compelled to take a "discount" because someone did them a favor. The Brewers signed Woody in good faith knowing he was hurt, and he will have fulfilled the requirements of the contract both parties agreed to. Saying his integrity is at stake if he doesn't offer them a discount is unhinged.
  8. Once again, we can't just discuss the players on their own merits. Harold gets enamored with a few players, and immediately says they're the blonde, left handed, size 13 shoe size version of (insert player name here) "compared to former or current player". Is this site just satire now?
  9. "Once Black completes his adjustment to MLB pitching, it would not be hard to imagine him posting a .380 on-base" What? So... it would not be hard imagining a rookir having the 2nd highest obp in the NL? What???
  10. One could legitimately make the argument that without Willis, the Packers could be 3-5 right now instead of 6-2. It can't be overstated how important a pickup he's been. Glad Gutekunst understood that Clifford wasn't ready to be a QB2.
  11. time for a forced backfoot int to gutpunch us to end it
  12. Playing not to lose in the 2nd half. usually means you will.
  13. I almost feel like this must be satire. Every time the Brewers have a 3+ WAR player hitting FA, it seems like a certain poster tosses out the idea of 30 year contract deferrals and brings up Bobby Bonilla day, right on cue.
  14. As soon as Maurer said "that might have been a little bit low", I *knew* Mendoza was gonna come out of the dugout and get run out. Was not disappointed.
  15. nope. rowdy was a fun dude but not a very good player. this kind of roster chicanery while trying to prepare for the playoffs so a medioce former player can get a roster bonus seems silly at best.
  16. How Ridiculous is another really fun channel. their uploads have slowed down now that theyve gotten bigger, but they still produce fun, quality stuff.
  17. baseball is not entertainment. baseball is life.
  18. I got rid of cable, and then youtube tv, and find that YouTube itself has gotten really good for providing good shows and entertainment. Adam Savage's Tested is a good channel for nerd/engineer stuff. Viva La Dirt League is easily my favorite comedy/skit channel Kentucky Ballistics is a really fun/funny gun channel, and you don't have to be into guns to enjoy his stuff. I'm sure everyone here knows who the slo-mo guys are, and their vids are outstanding.
  19. Charles Berthoud is crazy good. I hate the way he titles his vids, but dude is wildly good at his craft and I understand how/why the algorithm and click habits make people title their videos the way they do.
  20. Yup. I turned 50 this year and most of my baseball life has been rooting for, pulling for, cheering for, and just watching bad and mediocre Brewers teams. This stuff hasn't (and won't) get old to me. I've accepted that I may *never* see my guys win a WS, but these seasons like this are enjoyable for the journey.
  21. Everything suggests Frankie shouldn't pitch into the 6th, and Murphy keeps trying it, and getting burnt.
