  2. Memo to Richie Sexson: Ask yourself one question - "Do I feel lucky?" - before you try to take the extra base.
  3. Looks like Cappy's perfect through one... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif
  4. The Order of the Baby Seal only gets awarded for getting clubbed during a regular or post-season game.
  5. Any other details on the design yet? I was thinking an unbalanced look would be kinda neat - put in some artificial turf - make the field unique.
  6. I guess Rogers and Eveland are the "baby seals" of the staff. Until the next guy gets rocked and takes the "baby seal" title away from them.
  7. 6-3 Giants. Dana Eveland faced six hitters, didn't retire one. Gave up five runs.
  8. Hart with 2 RBI. Carlos who? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif EDIT: Another double for Damian (jobbed by the official scorer). 3-1 Brewers.
  9. Yost seemed pretty upset about Dallimore's retirement. That said, Romano is younger, and still has some upside.
  10. Davis isn't a FA until after 2007. So, the situation the Crew will hopefully be looking at would be: * Lee has a huge year (35+ HR, 120+ RBI) * Hart producing solid numbers (12-15 HR in 300 AB), with Cruz hitting 25 HR in AAA. * Davis and Capuano each notching 12-15 wins (closer to 15) and a sub-4.00 ERA * Dillard, Eveland, Sarfate, Jackson and Hendrickson all having solid seasons in AA/AAA, with Rogers, Gallandro, Wahpepah, and Inman staying healthy. * Helling/Bush pitching well enough in the 5th spot of the rotation to win 12 games. * Tomo Ohka wins 12 games and posts a 4.00 ERA. At this point, the Crew can let Lee and Ohka walk, and get the 1st/2nd rounder and the supplemental for each. At that point, I think a mix would be appropriate. First, the Crew gets the best player available with the first of their picks. Then the second goes for the best player available at a position of need (say, catcher). The third can go for a college starter/reliever. Then go for a best player available, and help where the system needs depth (if Ohka is a Type A free agent). If the minor-league players stay healthy and post solid numbers, then the Brewers will have the enviable dilemma of having to choose between the establish #2/#3 combo of Davis and Capauno, or going with promising young arms.
  11. If he can perform... why not draft him?
  12. Agreed. A nice 25th man. A bench of Moeller, Hart, J. Clark, Cirillo, Hall, and Gross would be pretty good.

  14. Shane Nance is a pitcher who intrigued me when the Brewers acquired him. It mightbe too late to try him out as a starter, but maybe he joins the bullpen derby. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Upon his death, he should be enshrined.
  16. The difference between Hart and Magruder is that Hart will provide offense if he gets regular playing time. If Corey can hit, I'm not gonna sweat the defense.
  17. I'm on the innocent till proven guilty. He did admit to using andro, which was legal. As such, there's no real case against him unless one wants to go to rumor-mongering and suspicion. I'm even for allowing Rose into the Hall of Fame (but not while he is alive - lifetime ban means lifetime, not permanent).
  18. Doesn't Wise have a curve ball that he has been using a little this past season?
  19. Matt Wise: The next Doug Jones.
  20. rluzinski Agreed. Lee's still pretty solid, and a deal involving him would be able to land a legit #2 starter or some young arms to replenish the farm system (which has question marks due to injuries). Options in LF could include Hart, Branyan, Cruz, Ginter, or some player who is currently a FA, and if the Crew can get theat starting pitcher (either as part of a trade or as a free agent), why not go for it?
  21. GenoSeligPrieb You make a good point. Carlos Lee was valuable for the Brewers in 2005. But here is the problem I see. Lee is going to get $8.5 million. If the Brewers could trade him for some solid pitching prospects and maybe a great super-utility guy to replace Hall (who is the front-runner to start at third base), acquire a top-flight starter like Kevin Millwood, and muddle through in left field with Cruz, Hart, Ginter, Jose Cruz. Jr, or some combination of players. It might sound like a step back in LF, but overall, the team would be better off overall having a rotation of Sheets, Davis, Millwood, Capuano, and Ohka. It doesn't strike me as a rotation that's going to be lit up very often (I don't think any of these guys had an ERA over 4.00 in 2005).
  22. I'm really not inclined to keep him beyond 2006. There are two right-handed power-hitting OF prospects at Nashville (Hart and Cruz). His OBP is not setting me on fire, and he could decline very sharply, and the Brewers would have dead weight on the payroll.
