  1. GenoSeligPrieb How about replaced in LF by Lyle Overbay (even with a buyout of the option), who posted higher OPS and OXS numbers? cf: Clark ss: Hardy lf: Overbay rf: Jenkins 2b: Weeks 1b: Fielder 3b: Hall/Branyan c: Miller rotation: Sheets, Davis, Millwood (FA), Capuano, Ohka Not only a still-solid lineup with several sluggers (Jenkins, Weeks, Fielder, Hall/Branyan), but the Brewers arguably have the best rotation in the majors.
  2. gregmag I tend to agree with you. Overbay's skill set (more OBP, usign more of the field) is much less likely to decline over time. His OPS, OXS, and expected runs created are marginally higher, and he'd be getting maybe $3 million in 2006 compared to $8.5 million for Carlos Lee.
  3. brewmann04 Looking at the fact that Overbay and Lee put up comparable OPS figures over the season, I have to agree. The difference in their totals is within five or six points. Simply put, all things being equal, Lee is the more logical trade option, but like Overbay, the Brewers should wait for an offer than blows them away for Lee.
  4. The scorer just ripped O off - that was a double. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  5. What can you say? The Brewers battled back. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Didn't the Brewers tee off on Perez on Opening Day? Kip Wells, too, IIRC.
  7. Out of the jam. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. We'll have to get someone for the 8th and make the 9th Turnbow Time.
  9. Two-run lead? I'd put the pen in.
  10. Hope he's okay. If Moeller's out, who takes over if Damian gets hurt? Helms? Nice to see two runs... and a loud out by JJ. They'll hopefully fall next year.
  11. Cirillo with an RBI single. How's Chad?
  12. You know... if Glover keeps racking up Ks, maybe throwing him into the competition for a bullpen spot might be a good idea.
  13. I consider Cappy and Sharpie to be about equivalent - you could flip them either way in the starting rotation, and you'd be fine. I admit a little favoritism towards Cappy - if only because he's so good at keeping baserunners honest. It's kind of fun to see a baserunner not even thinking of stealing a base get caught napping.
  14. Yeah... the Crew can sweep the Reds.
  15. Yeah... let's get this one first, though... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif
  16. Isn't it nice to see the Crew have its way with the St. Louis Cardinals...
  17. True... And this ties into the real problem of the Brewers' offense this year: Consistency. We're treating the D-Backs pitchers like baby seals tonight.
  18. Yeah... but looking at the era (back when the mound was still "high" and when Bob Gibson posted a 1.12 ERA one season), I'm not so sure it would cheapen him. In this case, OPS+ points to someone who did well when compared to his peers at the hot corner. People will argue that including McGwire and Bonds into the Hall of Fame will "cheapen" it because of BALCO. Others will argue the same when pitchers come up for the Hall from this era, because their numbers will not be as good as those from past eras.
  19. I think Mike Maddux has done it again.
  20. If only Big Ben didn't have that strained lat...
