  1. I'm glad to see them making this move, but I also read they budgeted 1 BILLION dollars this year to fix 360s with the ring of death. Wow. As for the price drop, rumor is that the PS3 will be getting a price reduction as early as next week. If that happens, I'd expect to see a price reduction of the 360 soon too. Edit: Oops, just noticed you also mentioned the billion dollars as well. But in case anyone missed it like I did I suppose.
  2. It would be hard to put into words the reasons I'm attached to this game. But I have grown up on it. My earliest memories are of rooting for Dale Murphy and the Atlanta Braves with my dad. My dad was a Milwaukee Braves fan, and when they moved, he followed them. So I grew up with this dedication to the Braves, we would watch every game we could on TBS, and I would be sitting there filling out the scorecard as they lost 100 games a season. The summer the Braves went worst to first was one of the most exciting summers, that I still have great memories from. While I had went to some Brewers games growing up, I don't think I paid much attention to them until they moved to the NL. And then I moved to Milwaukee myself in 1996, and have followed them pretty religiously since that time. But that doesn't say why I love the game I suppose. There was this passage I read once, maybe 15 years ago, that I believe was written by Ted Williams and was an intro into a book about Roberto Clemente. I've never been able to find it again, though I've tried, but for some reason, that passage has always lingered with me when I think about baseball. It was a brilliant description of the game. There's a beauty and history to the game, that other sports just don't have.
  3. I have to agree that the transforming sound is used repeatedly throughout the movie. It wasn't used all the time, but it was used pretty frequently I thought. I thought it was a decent movie. Even though they were different, I thought the Autobots were pretty cool, but the Decepticons were pretty lacking. The action was fun, I was able to get behind the characters, etc. There's plenty of negatives too for sure, but all things considered, I enjoyed myself.
  4. ESPN has been annoying me in multiple ways anymore. The "Who's Now" thing makes no sense at all, I don't even understand what Now is. Nor do I understand their "eras." But worse than that, IMO, is that lately, they can't go a week without drumming up some big story, related to life outside of the sports field and then beating it to death. Its like they're turning into a Hollywood trash magazine.
  5. There's no way baseball can let Bonds break the record anywhere but in SF. That image, love it or hate it, of Bonds breaking the record will live on (I can still see the image of Aaron breaking it in my head), and baseball can't have the negative reaction of a visitors stadium be the image that lives on. I mean, just think of how people will react, I think booing could be the least of it. I wouldn't be surprised by people throwing items on to the field, etc. That's going to put an even bigger sour mark on the game itself then, not just Bonds. Despite how much baseball doesn't want him to break the record, they have to start accepting the fact that its going to happen, and they unfortunately need to embrace it, for the good of the game.
  6. I didn't get to go, as I had to much work to do, but my wife went and said it was a great show, and she's not even much of a Social Distortion fan. I believe she said they played Ring of Fire in the encore, but I don't know what else.
  7. [Are all of Milwaukees 4th celebrations taking place on July 3rd? That had not crossed my mind before.] I always assumed that they had the Big Bang on the 3rd so all the surrounding areas could have their own local crowds for the 4th. I know quite a few of the surrounding areas do it on the 4th.
  8. I was surprised they didn't cut away at 3 as scheduled since the Braves game at the time was a 4-0 game. Guess it would have been annoying if you wanted to watch the Braves game, but the rest of the country is tuning in for the selection show.
  9. Ya, I'll be seeing them at Summerfest on Monday. Your thread title had me scared for a second there, cause I thought I had put it on my schedule on the wrong day. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Just in case, I apologize if anyone thought I was asking rudely about the Tbow one, I wasn't arguing it or anything, I was just curious as to why it was higher.
  11. I understand that there's plenty of times to boo players, certainly Sheffield for one, so I'm not condemning booing players, I just was put off with the fans that were booing on Sunday mostly. I can understand why people think they should boo for Carlos, I just didn't agree. The bigger issue was booing our own players and hopefully I don't see that happen again. Hell, unless we go 0-74 in the second half, I'm expecting everyone to give these guys a standing O at the end of the season. Hopefully all the johnny come lately's can do the same.
  12. Wow he didn't waste anytime when he got back huh? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  13. So this was a thread I had meant to make when Houston was in town, but now that there's an article about it on the Brewers' main site, I thought I'd actually get to posting it. I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the boo birds at MP this year, and I understand a lot of it is probably bandwagon fans, but its still disturbing. (I know I don't have 20 posts here yet, but I'm hardly a bandwagon fan, I've been going to Brewers games regularly since I moved here 10 years ago, and a ticket holder for 3). Two instances of late have bothered me, the first being the third game against the Royals, Turnbow was booed quite loudly when he gave up the hold, and I know he's got a rocky record with a lot of fans, but he wasn't the only pitcher who was booed. I just couldn't believe people were booing our own players, after the incredible season they've given us so far. I understand it was frustrating, but still, that's the only game they dropped in the entire homestand. I remember saying to my friend, "who do they think we are, Yankee fans?" The other one, which didn't bother me as much, but all the same, was the booing of Carlos Lee. I remember having a conversation with some people the first time he came to town this year, that they were going to boo him, and I couldn't understand why. I know its often a tradition to boo old players who have left your team, but Carlos was traded and never said anything disparaging about this team or this city. He gave us something to cheer for while he was here and played hard. Anyway, I don't know what the point of this thread is really, but I just felt like I needed to say it, and hopefully next time something goes wrong for a game we can have enough smart fans who don't boo our team for one bad game. I know there's a lot of people who apprecaite the way this season is shaping up and can respect it, but unfortunately there's a lot of people who only care cause we're winning and don't have any respect for the club. BTW, here's the article I referenced earlier; Brewers bullpen deserves more credit (Shortened up link by adding text -1992casey)
  14. How's the TBow alternate so much higher? Early in the week I saw people paying $60+ for the Alt Bill Hall, but it has pretty much come back to around $50 now.
  15. I wouldn't imagine you're going to get much sun at all being on the second level in that location. Possibly for a bit in the beginning of the game, but I wouldn't think for long.
  16. Hmm, ya, I put in a site I work for and we do as much revenue per day than it says the site is worth. Which of course means its undervaluing sites and we're all RICH!
  17. Yes, a Mac can pull up a HD formatted for PCs. And yes, as long as you get an Intel Mac (which is what all the new ones are anyway, so if you buy new you're safe, if you buy used, be sure to checck), you can run Windows on it as well using either Bootcamp from Apple or Parallels.
  18. I watched the Brewers Squeeze Play tonight and I have to just say for the record that Suppan pitched a lot better than his line indicates. The Astros really only hit two balls hard off him all day, being Berkman's homer and Lee's ensuing double. Otherwise everything was just little squibb hits that just made it through. I think he's looking better, just not getting the breaks.
  19. Bonds is in the Player's Association, he just opted out of the PA's collective liscensing agreement. Miller is barred from joining. I think he is the last scab in the big leagues (not really surprising) Ah, interesting about Miller, I didn't realize that.
  20. [i didn't even think it was possible to play without being in the P.U.] You can, Bonds isn't. It happens in other sports to. That's why you never see guys like Bonds or Michael Jordan in video games.
  21. Two big days for our catchers in a row. Outstanding.
  22. Man do they even sell Miller shirts for Walk-off Wednesdays? I thought that promotion was about impossible.
  23. No, the runner at first would have to reach safely for the run to count.
