    McCalvy just tweeted that it looks like a done dieal. No specifics though. Also, McCalvy posted this earlier today, which helps understand the "why" of it, at the very least;

    But this isn't a Facebook page in the way most of us have Facebook pages. This is a fan page, you don't "friend" the page, you just "like" it. The intent of it is wholly different, and not uncommon at all.

    Agreed, the finale left much to be desired. As a finale, there was no big event really, the inside information we got wasn't all the exciting or unpredictable. Meh. I'll give it another shot next year to see, but ya, it really tailed off after the first few episodes.

    You have to wonder sometimes how Boras pulls these things off. I just read a report this morning that Werth wanted 6 years and nobody he had met with was interested in going that high. And then, BAM, a team that wasn't even in the discussion, goes in for 7. Craziness.

    I had to stop reading political news because it was frustrating. Only to go to twitter and get frustrated all anew by learning of this trade. On one hand, I'm excited to see movement, on the other, this feels like a horrible overpay. If we think we can resign Weeks, I'm fine trading Lawrie, but I would expect a bigger package to be put together with Lawrie than this.

    Well, he has a 4-0 lifetime record as a manager, so it's hard to not like the choice. Seriously though, I don't know much about Roenicke, but I'm just glad it wasn't Bob Melvin.

    I never read the novels, but I thought it was very good. My wife was working on the computer while I watched it, and despite her continual instance that she found it scary and disturbing, she admitted she'd be watching it next week.

    Worse than that, Girardi is in talks to renew is contract now, and supposedly is looking for a $9M/3yr deal, and that's after 2 playoff appearances and 1 World Series title during his first contract.

    When the playoffs started, probably the last World Series matchup I would have imagined would be Rangers/Giants. I'm so glad it's not Yanks/Phils.

    For the record, my account rep told me for last year's renewal, that agreeing to the payment installment plan was considered as paid in full. Unless they changed it, you should be able to do the installment plan and get the discount and perks I would think. That's the route I was going to go anyway. To me the early renewal perks have been uninspired for plans less than full season, for a few years running now. I think the last cool one was the autographed ball (which they still botched for me because I ended up drawing Villy, who was pitching that day, and thus not signing.)

    Ya, the tweets in question came out of the blue, I think about 2 hours after the original set of tweets on the issue, and it wasn't prompted as response to people it didn't seem (though whoever wrote the tweets in question did start replying to people directly too). When I saw them start back up I thought it was crazy that he was starting back into it again. To me it seems plausible.

    The radio broadcast said a road team has won the first 5 games of a 7 game series, but never the full series.

    From Haudricourt on twitter; Brewers GM Doug Melvin just denied the report that Bob Brenly will be the next manager. Said he hasn't interviewed anybody. So false alarm. More ---- Melvin had this to say about Brenly rumor: "Unless somebody else has been doing the hiring process, that's not true." "Just another rumor to squelch" Melvin said about the Brenly report, and he sounded a bit incredulous. Can't say I blame him. Brewers GM Doug Melvin says his focus is "to go outside" to look for a new manager. That's bad news for Willie Randolph, Dale Sveum.

    No, MLB has a minority hiring process as well, but I'm not aware of the specifics. The Dodgers got a little press about how they selected Don Mattingly as Torre's successor, by promoting from within they skirted around the minority hiring process guidelines.
