Ya burniebrewer, I was just commenting about that to someone on Friday. My local post office previously had two automated centers, but has scaled to one because nobody ever uses them. I walked in on Friday, a full line of people waiting to get to the counter, not one person using the automated machine. Maybe they all had legit business, but it is like that all of the time. I used the machine and was out of there before that line even moved. When airlines introduced the automated checkin it was the same way, especially at General Mitchell International. Long lines at the regular checkin counter, and nobody using the auto checkins.

I wonder if the fan works not so much because of the wind, but because it helps obscure so many of the things that attract mosquitos, like chemical secretions and heat signatures?

Probably in hopes of seeing Strasburg, who won't be pitching in Milwaukee. He would have been slated for the Friday game actually, but Washington is changing their rotation order after the All-Star break. Rooting for bad attendance is as strange to me, as the people who want to see us keep losing miserably. I know we're all smarter than the people running the Brewers, but I'm pretty confident that they realize the spike in attendance came with the better play and expectations, and if you lose those, you lose the spike in attendance. A lot of strange thinking around here lately.

They crossed 2 million sold in April, so 2.5 is a possible number still for the season total. 3 million will be out of the question, and I agree, next year is where that hit is really going to come. That being said, you'll also probably have a lot of people not bothering to turn up to use their tickets for the remainder of the season.

That's exactly what I want. I want this team buried in the standings so Mark and Doug can't rationalize some sort of win now move as making sense. I think far to many people around here lately are putting to much stock into Melvin saying weeks ago, that he wasn't ready to say the Brewers were sellers. They had a nice push afterwards, but are now 11 games under .500, worse than they were at the time. I'd be shocked if internally they don't know the landscape of things, but everyone keeps acting like Melvin is out there everyday saying we're not going to be sellers.

If you're talking about what I think you are, that wasn't Happy, it was this guy, Zack Hample. He was talking about Miller Park, but he's from NY and he seems to be the guy who gets the media attention for snagging baseballs.

The comparison to season ticket holders isn't totally accurate though. As a ticket holder, I have the opportunity to buy seats to all playoff games, equal to the amount of seats I had during the season. Through this you can buy 2 tickets, to attend one game per series. Not to knock it, I think it's an interesting method, just pointing out that you still get more perks as a ticket holder, if you go that route.

This isn't game related, and nobody probably cares, but something I've noticed this year doing the IGTs, is that for whatever reason, the AP seems to take the same photo of Randy Wolf every single start. I tend to use photos from each pitcher's previous start, which works fine for everyone except Wolf for some reason. This is pretty much the photo the AP does for Wolf every start; http://a.espncdn.com/media/apphoto/bfc1d086-6fde-496a-b0f2-cac1f68e5e28.jpg

Amazingly it took until the 9th batter of the inning before the Reds actually got a hit in that 7th inning. Edit: The Reds 7th Inning; BB, BB, E-4, K, BB, BB, P-6, PB, IBB, 1B, 2B, BB, 2B, F-9 3 hits, 9 runs. Brutal.

Just realized a somehow managed to delete a sort of dumping grounds folder on my computer. I'm not sure when I did this, or how, but it seems I did. This is both a blessing and a curse, in that it had grown to large and wasn't organized very well, and in that I had some reference materials in there I used often and will have a hard time gathering again.
  24. pretendastronaut
I doubt it's even stadium capacity. They wouldn't be able to forget about probable sales to season ticket holders, and they'll no doubt save some for promotional sponsors and the like. I'm sure they've figured out a percentage of tickets they could safely try to reserve this way and they have a capacity they can sell reservation for. It's an interesting idea, and while it certainly will make MLB a lot of "unearned" money, it gives the average fan more of a chance to get high value tickets, that are otherwise sometimes very hard or expensive to come by.
