  1. Ya, I didn't mean it as "grand slam" was just attempting to be being clever with Aram's name. Alas.
  2. Not feeling good at all about the bottom of the 10th with our history in Chicago in recent trips. I still have nightmares about the Aram Slam.
  3. NSBB fears we're picking on their love affair for Sam Fuld over here, so here's an obligatory post. HA-HA.
  4. Oh man, trying not to get my hopes up, trying not to get my hopes up, trying not to get my hopes up, trying not to get my hopes up....
  5. Not many people would have expected to say this today, but it would be really a shame to not get Suppan the win here today.
  6. As for hitting Lee, I don't think they hit Fielder intentionally, but by retaliating and getting the warnings issued, you take away the high and tight throw Zambrano was more obviously intending to use. It was a smart move I think.
  7. Did anyone notice Cameron, presumably, looking for a Brewer fan to toss the ball too, and keeping it when he didn't see one? Good stuff.
  8. Cubs Lineup via NSBB: Soriano, lf Theriot, ss D Lee, 1b Bradley, rf Fox, 3b Fukudome, cf Fontenot, 2b K. Hill, c Zambrano, p
  9. I'm not saying I like it naivin, or that it's not odd, just trying to actually understand it instead of conjecture. Personally I'd like to keep JJ in the 2 spot for an extended period, because I agree, he's swinging better than most give him credit for. If anyone ever watches the NSBB IGTs, there is a guy over there, Fred Hornkohl, who always has a slew of random trivia/facts. He posted this tidbit, which I'll take as a positive for us;
  10. Fielder, Hart, and Kendall are the only Brewers batting over .300 versus Zambrano. Kendall has been slapping hits around for a few days. Those two things probably combined more towards Kendall leading off a lineup with no true leadoff hitter, more than Macha being a "complete dope."
  11. weather.com says it's from the NW, which would be blowing out (I believe) at the moment.
  12. Trading JJ now only means Macha finally has a way to play McGehee, Counsell, and Hall in the same lineup. I'm only half joking.
  13. Per McCalvy; Jason Kendall C Craig Counsell 2B Ryan Braun LF Prince Fielder 1B Casey McGehee 3B Mike Cameron CF Corey Hart RF J.J. Hardy SS Jeff Suppan RHP

  15. Haha, bad timing on BA's call there. Fukodome hit the wall at this point last season...and there's a double for Fukodome.
  16. Pretty much Lee vs Brewers tonight. Wow. It wasn't that long ago Cubs fans were done with him.
  17. Before that AB Hart was tied with McGehee and Rivera with 4 GDP for the year. Hall, Hardy, Kendall, Fielder, and Cameron (in that order) all had more GDPs than Hart coming into this game.
  18. I swear every fan site is nothing but doom and gloom these days. Cubs, Cards, here. That inning wasn't pretty, but there's 8 more to go for crying out loud.
  19. Man, I don't know how Lee found his stroke again lately, but Jebus, that was smoked.
  20. I think the Cubs fans I've talked to are putting way more pressure on this series and the upcoming Cards one than we are, but they're also more positive they can take 3 of 4 than most of us are. I'm not worried about this series more than any other. Pitching matchups don't determine everything. We're not playing on top of our game, but either are the Cubs, so this series is completely unpredictable for my money. (That said, I am worried about how bad we might look against the Dodgers.) I fall with naivin. Assuming the Cubs, Card, or the Crew don't implode over these next two weeks, the season doesn't rest right here for anyone. For the Cubs, their season hinges on if Aram can come back healthy, that has way more to do with their season then this stretch.
