  1. the brewers just burned his final option. The option isn't burned until the Rogers spends 20 days in the minors. If he's recalled before the 20 days are used up and he subsequently spends the full season in Milwaukee, he'd receive Major League service time for his days in the minors and his option would still be available.
  2. Apple recommends that if you leave your notebook plugged in constantly, you should drain your battery once a month. Other brands are probably similar.
  3. I put an image on the Share This menus here and on LambeauLeap. That should make the menu's purpose more apparent. http://images.yuku.com/image/png/c7615d92c7521e1ff1288c54ea8d207681a6371.png
  4. It's only on the bottom of topic and forum pages, but it's at both the top and bottom of directory page.
  5. Yuku doesn't offer anything for Twitter, but there's a Facebook item in the Share This menu that's on the board directory, forum, and topic pages. Not being on Facebook, I've never tried it. If someone wants to report back on how it works, it'd be appreciated. To supplement the Facebook thing in Share This, Yuku tried offering a Facebook Like feature. However, it was poorly implemented. It slowed page loading to an unacceptable level, and it was placed poorly on the page (covering up items in the navigation bar). We shut it off as soon as a control was offered to do so, and last fall, due to slowness issues, Yuku pulled the feature entirely.
  6. MLB.TV can now be streamed on an AppleTV. http://www.apple.com/appletv/
  7. I'm glad to hear that the system is running OK for you. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I've noticed that the Transactions forum is much less active than usual. Maybe that's a consequence of all the player acquisitions this off-season.
  8. I haven't personally noticed page loading slowness other than "normal" Yuku slowness, but I've certainly noticed posting slowness. However, members of other Yuku communities are reporting overall slowness, meaning that I'm not surprised to hear that people are experiencing it here at Brewerfan, too. Additionally, some communities are experiencing really bad system caching (posts disappearing and reappearing later) on a daily basis. The purported reason is that Yuku is changing to a new colocation center. The initial estimate for the move's completion was mid-January. It's obviously taking longer than expected. I honestly don't think that Yuku has either the manpower or financial wherewithal to deliver the necessary goods in a proper fashion, even with the recent purchase by Inform. As many of you know, most of the customer service staff was let go last fall. There've also been two hefty price increases, one in December and another one this week. I should also mention that there've been reports of people having login issues. If you're unable to log in, please send me an e-mail (available on the About Us page) or submit a help ticket directly to Yuku staff. The help desk would be accessible as it doesn't use the same login as the rest of the system.
  9. I've added this topic to the Designated Threads list.
  10. Moved to Minor Leagues: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=24318
  11. You can also buy a Skype phone if you wish. That would keep you from needing to be closely tied to your PC and would help to limit the minutes you'd use for calls forwarded to your cell. That's too bad about the Magic Jack software. Additionally, I seem to remember that the phone that's connected to the Magic Jack is limited to having a six foot cord, although I'd think that that limitation could be circumvented by hooking up a cordless phone. Dialing 10 digits wouldn't bother me. That limitation is present on a lot of cell phones. Plus, the entire northern half of Wisconsin needs to dial 10 digits for local landline calls. That's the case in a lot of areas around the country.
  12. The message that states "I think he just didn't want to sign with us" was likely written without the benefit of all the background information. The three posts before Invader3K's directly above were in a separate thread in the Minor League forum before being merged into this topic.

  18. Also, in addition to Axford, the emergence of Loe and Braddock as the season went on improved the situation considerably. Plus, Greinke and Marcum improve the bullpen by default simply because it won't be counted on for as many innings.

  21. It doesn't help that I'm spoiled by Apple's huge trackpads, which eliminate the need for buttons and allow one to scroll in all directions from any point on the pad. I have to wonder why someone hasn't come up with something similar for other platforms. As an aside on the aside, we're going to start finding mentions of Thunderbolt to be a bit ambiguous. The name can refer to either the HTC Thunderbolt or to Thunderbolt I/O technology. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Both are generating quite a bit of buzz right now.

  23. WAOW (Channel 9, Wausau) is good. I've been subscribed to their personal forecast feature for several years. You can set preferences to receive e-mails when significant weather is about to occur, and the personal page is more informative than the standard one. You don't need to log in to access your personal page. The link provided in their alert e-mails will bring you to your current "personal" forecast. Bookmarking the link doesn't bypass the need to log in, so I generally save one e-mail from them to be able to conveniently read the page.
  24. This is an interesting topic because there are a lot of ways that GormanHarvey could have gone. If it were me, I think I would have concentrated on getting reasonably priced mobile Internet access for my full-sized notebook. A full-sized notebook has plenty of portability for traveling to a cabin. Using it in other places is where size and weight might start to matter. I'm generally an unhappy camper when using a netbook for a prolonged period, basically because of the itty bitty teensey weensey trackpads. If I were to own a netbook, I'd want an external pointing device that would be practical enough to use most of the time. I don't see a mouse as a great option because mousing isn't convenient in a lot of places where you want to use the netbook. This USB Multi-Touch Smart Pad ($20.98 on Amazon) seems to have potential, especially because it also has a numeric keypad. However, the trackpad gestures seem overly complicated. The Verizon iPad-MiFi Bundle looks like an attractive deal. Essentially, it cuts the cost of the MiFi to $130. The huge advantage is that you'd be able to use the MiFi to connect other devices. Of course, the MiFi doesn't have LTE functionality. As an interesting aside about LTE, a tester managed to "blow through" his monthly 5GB data cap in 32 minutes. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. While the trackpad doesn't look like it's all that easy to use, this still looks like it could be a handy gizmo. MIX Gestures Wireless Mini Keyboard Mouse http://www.techozz.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/MIX-Gestures.jpg
