  1. Way back when, we had a discussion in the "What's Bugging You? thread about this. One of the important points was that we aren't always able to recognize who has a handicap and who doesn't. In this case, milwaukeesportsfan knew the person and knew he didn't belong in that spot.
  2. After thinking about it a bit, the minor league forum seems to be the best place for independent league stuff. I'll move it over there.
  3. It's a tough call deciding where this one belongs. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I locked the other one on the basis of this one being here first.
  4. There's a thread about this in the Major League forum: Longest Professional Sports Name. LBALACUSNAIBA.
  5. My parents found a lawyer who also had a real estate license. Essentially, they sold the house by themselves with the lawyer being there for advice and to represent them at the closing. They paid normal lawyer fees rather than a commission. The only thing they did wrong was deciding that the lawyer should handle all transactions. They verbally accepted an offer, didn't want to handle signing anything without the lawyer's advice, and the person evaporated. If you go this route, have the lawyer give you some paperwork that you and a buyer can sign without him being present.
  6. I haven't noticed it lately, but my favorite was when steroid discussion would produce Google ads for steroids.
  7. An issue we found when I was helping my parents shop was that the stores didn't necessarily subscribe to cable, using satellite instead. That's an issue because DirecTV and DISH pictures are going to be better.
  8. Mostly from reading here, I've heard good reports on Panasonic, Samsung, Pioneer, and Hitachi. Chances seem excellent that you'll be looking at LCD. Plasmas don't come that small. However, if you have space and the price is right, 42 inch plasmas are extremely popular. I've occasionally run across a 37 inch plasma, but for practical purposes, 42 inches seems to be the smallest size available. The only major picture quality issue I've seen is with analog cable channels. (Unfortunately, those tend to be the most watched channels.) From my experience, digital standard definition works fine.
  9. Thanks for the information, Jamie. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Here's the thread discussing some of the potential effects of these changes: Will Fox pick up any of our games? (Yes, Two So Far) I've locked the old thread in favor of this one.
  10. It's Pittsville, Bill. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. I thought I was clear that I felt starting this thread was just fine. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif As I mentioned above, we hadn't had a 'true' general lineup thread for a while. There've been times, though, where we've had issues with repeated general lineup threads. I view this thread as cool because it presents us with the opportunity to consolidate the lineup talk that sidetracks Gwynn threads, Hall threads, Jenkins threads, etc. And it'll also take care of any issue of any inclination to start new lineup threads in the immediate future.
  12. This is a cool time for a general lineup thread because we haven't had one for a while. And i think FVBrewerfan recognized that with his timely title, " It's time again: Name your ideal line-up". Keep in mind, however, that repeated lineup threads tend to be more annoying than useful. So let's use this thread as the designated lineup thread. Also keep in mind that technically, we have had numerous recent lineup threads. They didn't start out that way, but they ended up that way. BillScottCanRake and I opined about that in the Keep Brewerfan Beautiful thread. Quoth 1992casey: Quoth BillScottCanRake: As part of our current effort to keep Brewerfan beautiful, let's try to confine as much lineup discussion as possible to this thread.
  13. This is just a stab in the dark, but is there some kind of aural CSS that would disable sound that could be included in the brewerfan and forum style sheets?
  14. It's not one of those things that's worth devoting a page of the game thread to. Eight or nine people chiming in to say the same thing just isn't productive.
  15. We're not wound because it's not something JJ has happen often.
  16. A good pitcher knows how to cause his teammates to do the right things on the basepaths. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. I rewound and watched the play again. I agree with Schroeder's assessment in calling the play 'a little bit' nonchalant. I wouldn't call it "totally" nonchalant.
  18. I don't mind if we're given pretty strong clues in regard to the trivia answers. They're one of the few things Bill is able to talk about and make interesting.
  19. Yowsa! That's a lot of duplication. We seem to have a lot of bullpen threads, too. Members should check more carefully to see if their thoughts will fit into an existing thread.
  20. Apparently, FOX doesn't have a graphic prepared for Capuano home runs.
  21. This link works a hair better: JS Online NewsWatch 2007-06-02 Here's another one: WauwatosaNOW
  22. If Brian Anderson says "bases loaded clearing double' again, I'll scream. The first time he said it, I thought it was a slip of the tongue. Guess not.
  23. Let me preface this by saying that this is not a violation issue. It's a new pet peeve that didn't start to bother me until recently. Anyway, I've noticed that as soon as a batting order is posted to a thread, the thread stands an excellent chance of getting sidetracked, or in some cases, even hijacked. While the first batting order posted may be relevant to the discussion at hand, the responses tend to have more batting orders. As an example, a thread about Bill Hall can eventually become a thread debating where Hart or Gwynn should hit. The ironic thing is that these batting orders are often posted as a message's pièce de résistance. The message will start with some good content relevant to the thread, then... Voila! Lookie here! You can have this batting order! I guess I find the part of the post without the batting order a lot more interesting.
  24. Give Corey a decent sample of ABs, and I think you may have your high OBP guy.
  25. Who's that TBS broadcaster who said 'Vinnie Gual-ardo'?
