  1. Ned's done that before. In 2004, the Johnny Wholestaff starts began on a day when rain was expected to interrupt a game in Puerto Rico. I believe that delayed Ben Hendrickson's first call-up by about three weeks.
  2. I just checked 642; it's still part-time. Here's a map showing team home territories. I only have the link to the picture. I don't know if there's an article that goes with it or not.
  3. homer, You have a local ezBoard account. It's good for Brewerfan.net only. If you'd like to post on the other forum, you'll need to sign up for a local account over there or sign up for a global ezBoard account.
  4. Marney says Hart is starting in RF and hitting 7th.
  5. Is there a story behind the Ann Carroll replacement?
  6. Here's one that's kind of obscure. Conversation in "Jenkins Club Option for 2008" thread: (edit: removed dead link)
  7. That's gotta be the number left on by each player rather than guys LOB at the end of the inning.
  8. The game ends on a CS. Gotta love it. Nicely done by Shoppach, though.
  9. By the way, the game opened with TV announcer Matt Underwood identified as Harry Doyle and Rick Manning identified as Rick "Wild Thing" Manning. Manning was wearing the giveaway Wild Thing sunglasses. The Miller Park trivia question had to do with Manning getting booed as a Brewer for a game-winning RBI.
  10. Do the Indians and Angels deserve their own game threads this week?
  11. Yep. When BB + HBP is less than SF, a player's OBP will be lower than his BA. There were two great articles on the 'net about this phenonemon a couple years ago. Unfortunately they seem to have been taken down. The upshot was that since the mid 1950s, about one player per season with a certain minimum number of ABs (75, I think) ends up with a lower OBP than BA. About half those players are pitchers. Billy Beane "accomplished" the "feat" in 1989. If I remember correctly, during Alex Sanchez' full season in Detroit, he carried an OBP lower than his BA into June.
  12. Damian Miller hit Wade Miller at Miller Park.
  13. I submit that we chip in and buy Billy a pink glove.
  14. It would be easy to center the page. I don't know if that's Brian or Patrick's preference, though. I don't think I'd care one way or the other. If you'd like, I can dig up some custom CSS so the pages would be centered for you in your browser. I know the instructions for the Gecko browsers (Firefox, SeaMonkey, Camino, Flock, K-Meleon, Netscape) and Opera. If you're using something else, someone else would have to chime in with directions.
  15. I'd bet there's a way to semi-automate putting the current link report in a prominent spot on the main page. If all Mass Haas has to do is paste the link to the thread in a box and hit submit, that wouldn't seem like a lot of extra work. Maybe everything he has to do to start the thread could be included on such a page, too. I do like using the forum for the reports, though. Once the thread is started, everyone who's able to post a message is able to assist.
  16. I don't think whatshername is scheduled to be on every broadcast. I only caught the last part, but I sensed that Davey was better when he was with Craig Coshun.
  17. bucksbeat, Welcome to the forum. I'm getting the FSN game on DirecTV. I'd bet that if this were a general issue, we'd have two pages of posts about it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I think you can probably call DirecTV and say, "Everybody else is getting it."
  18. Just curious. Is anyone blacked out from the WGN broadcast tonight?
  19. I can't be sure about this, but I believe you have to be very close to Milwaukee for a superstation broadcast to be blacked out. Within 35 miles, maybe?
  20. I like Ando Calrissian's idea. Some of this may be determined by where Brian gets his stats. It may not be practical to do VORP or FIP, for instance. But for hitters, you might be able to do AB, BA, OBP, SLG, and OPS, with the sort done by OPS. (BA is still useful to statheads if it's used with OBP and SLG.) I'm not sure what you'd choose for pitchers, but I'll throw this out there. We often use K/9 or K/BB because that's what is generally available. But I've read that K/AB or K/PA is even better. (It makes sense; K/9 can be skewed if a pitcher gives up a lot of hits.) I'd have to dig up the article to see if it recommended AB or PA.
  21. The short answer to sending a message to a member with a Yuku profile is to go to your Control Center, click the Send a Message link, then type in the recipient's username manually. There's more near the bottom of Principessa21's thread: Subforum question (PMs when recipient has Yuku profile)
  22. I see what you're saying now. We just got a #735 thread. It'd probably be a good idea to change that's thread's name to "Bonds Home Run Counter" or some such thing. If we find we're locking a lot of duplicates, it can be pinned.
  23. From reading various message boards, it appears that the issue in places like Iowa is that customers are very much at the mercy of their cable or satellite provider. In Bruce's case, DirecTV is kind enough to offer two regional sports networks with his Total Choice package. Cable and satellite companies would be much less likely to offer four or five such channels on extended basic, though. That forces people to buy a sports package to get the full complement of their home teams (or the single home team they'd rather see). If they want out of market games, they still pay the full price for a crippled Extra Innings package.
