  1. If there has ever been a time where needing another BIG bat was more obvious then right now, I don't know when it has ever been. No bat, no playoffs, it's as simple as that. I hope DM sees that as easily as I/we do. This team is so maddening to watch play on the road. I just don't get it. Baseball is baseball, you throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch you the ball. Losing on the road is understandable in football and even in college basketball, but it is NOT understandable or excuseable in baseball.
  2. That's all well and good, but even if they do end up winning 3-4 in this series, for those efforts they could still end up losing a 1/2 game to the Cubs. Really seems like a hollow victory if you ask me. I'm getting really, really tired of all the breaks the Cubs are catching lately(Harang leaves after an inning tonight due to back soreness, so the Cubs get to beat up on the Reds spectacular bullpen for 8 innings).
  3. Great, starting the top of the 2nd, Aaron Harang gets pulled and Mike Gosling is in. Must be some sort of injury. This already fabulous day just got better. This team just can't catch a break can they?? And the Cubs are catching everyone of them. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  4. Drays also trade Jorge Cantu to the Reds. Speaking of the Reds, Griffey is not in their lineup tonight, and Matt Murton was just pulled from the Cubs lineup. Griffey better NOT be going to the Cubs. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  5. Other thread beat me.
  6. Of course Griffey is not in the lineup for the Reds tonight. Thanks Reds!!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  7. Unreal...Cubs just tied it in the ninth. Jason Kendall of all people. Go ahead run on 2nd and 1 out. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  8. I say as long as the Crew stays in control of this one, let CV go until his arm falls off. Save the pen for tomorrow's DH.
  9. Now 2-1 Reds on an Encarnacion HR. Go Reds!!!
  10. Lineups: STL D.Eckstein-SS S.Schumaker-RF A.Pujols-1B C.Duncan-LF J.Edmonds-CF S.Rolen-3B A.Kennedy-2B G.Bennett-C M.Maroth-P MIL C.Hart-RF J.J. Hardy-SS R.Braun-3B P.Fielder-1B B.Hall-CF K.Mench-LF J.Estrada-C T.Graffanino-2B C.Vargas-P Finally, Estrada hitting in the correct spot for him.
  11. Rumors he may be available. To me, he is the PERFECT RH bench bat that this team needs. Hitting almost .300, and with good power.
  12. The Brewers are a more talented team. One thing you have to consider is a good majority of the Cubs players are playing way over their heads right now. Mike Fontenot?? Who is he?? Once the league gets the book on him he will come back to reality. Even Armas Ramirez is hitting close to .400 since he came back from his injury. These numbers simply will not hold. If you have had a chance to watch any Cubs games lately you will see that they have had a lot of bloop hits, a lot of non hard hit balls that are finding holes for RBI's right now. IOW, a lot of luck. Everything is just going their way right now. As much as it bothers me to see the Cubs this close to the Crew, the simply cannot keep playing at almost a .700 clip. Remember what happened to the Crew after starting 24-10?? The same will happen here. Here's a prediction for you....The Cubs lose tonight keeping the Crew lead at 2 games. They then get beat by Bronson Arroyo Friday Night while the Crew wins pushing the lead to 3 games. Saturday, there is simply no way they beat Harang and the Brewers will sweep the DH. lead after Saturday....4.5 games. Watch how the tone on these boards change after that.
  13. Well, on to the 7th we go. Time for the Reds bullpen to be uhhh the Reds bullpen.
  14. Great double switch by Ned. Pull Billy, that's the ticket!http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  15. That's exactly what I was wondering?? I figured for sure he'd stick with Shouse.
  16. Uh oh, don't like this matchup of Turnbow-Dunn here. I know he's pitched a lot here recently, but why not Shouse for Dunn??
  17. Well, the good thing is, Harang has to come out sooner rather than later. Just get through one more inning Cappy.
  18. Prediction: Harang will get Menched leading off the next inning. This has to be one of the quickest games of the year!
  19. Boy would it be nice to have Reds killer Bill Hall in the lineup tonight.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  20. The Crew is only hitting .217 since the AS break. Good for 2nd worst in the Majors. Extrapolated even further since Hall went down, I don't know what it is, but I am sure it's just as bad or even worse. I have said too since Hall went down, this teams hitting woes started. I'm all for getting a big bat at the deadline.
  21. This according to mlbtraderumors.com: Evan Grant also notes that Joaquin Benoit has moved to the forefront as the Ranger reliever must likely to be dealt. Akinori Otsuka's injury may prevent him from full re-establishing his value by July 31st. Benoit will not become a free agent until after 2008, and he's in the midst of a career year after rediscovering his control. The Dodgers and Brewers may be interested. L.A. could get desperate if Takashi Saito's injury is serious, although it does not appear to be. On the other hand, it's certainly in Ned Colletti's best interest to downplay the injury. For the Brew Crew, Benoit could slide into the closer role in 2008 if they allow Cordero to leave.
  22. Um...you do realize that Griffey can block a trade to Milwaukee, right? For whatever the rumors are worth, there is a very short list of teams he would consider playing for other than Cincy. Then there's the whole salary thing that rickh150 mentioned. I think the Brewers are about as likely to get Griffey as they are to put Hank Aaron back in uniform to see if he can hit a couple more homers. I absolutely realize that he can block a trade to Milwaukee. I also absolutely realize that there is probably one BIG reason he wouldn't block it......Prince Fielder. In case you are unaware, those two are VERY good friends. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. A: How fans can always find a way to constantly whine and complain about the Brewers this year when the last zillion years we were always 10 1/2 or more back at this point. This is what we have wanted - a team that is competing for the division crown (and still in the lead). Q: What does Mike Van not understand? A: Suffering thru all the losing seasons is almost more tolerable then having a team lead the division for most of the year, only to come up short of the playoffs at the end of the year. Q: What is less nerve wracking and not nearly as heartbreaking??
