  1. Best wishes to your mom on her recovery. And best wishes to you in managing the stress. Are you needed to make decisions, assist in her care, or otherwise be there for daily activities? I trust that she's getting good treatment. Maybe you can stop by the hospital in the evenings or cut out early some days... When my now-deceased mom was hospitalized following her stroke, it was a tough decision on when to go, how long to stay, etc. Glad my sisters were here to do a lot of the daily life stuff.
  2. With the park more empty than full tonight, I was told by the guy working the Zaffiro's stand that it would be more than a 10 minute wait for a pizza. This was all supposed to be to reduce time spent in line. Mission accomplished. I'll eat on the way home.
  3. And that's why I wonder about the "develop" part of "draft and develop". Nobody comes out of the draft as a finished product. They can scout the best amateur talent, but if those guys wither in the minors, then it's not about drafting poorly.
  4. And I think Jake Odorizzi may be the only Brewer SP product in recent memory to make a dent anywhere else. It's been an organizational weakness since the beginning.
  5. His sense of entitlement seems silly. I understand that he's not making as much money and probably doesn't like it, but to claim ownership of those sales is dumb. That said, I do think his point about pricing is a fair one. The Brewers are driving people to the concession stands with their prices. But, if a vendor is entertaining/pleasant/friendly/compelling, people will pay extra. As an aisle seat holder in the Family Section, I am often annoyed by beer vendors who hawk their product on our side of the aisle. They should know that we're prohibited from buying beer, but they call out to both sides that they're selling beer.
  6. I would rank them like this: 1. Higuera 2. Caldwell 3. Sheets 4. Bosio 5. Gallardo 6. Slaton 7. Haas 8. Wegman 9. Eldred 10. Vuckovich
  7. As delighted and surprised as I am that the Brewers are winning, it is even more satisfying that Genius Joe Madden's Unstoppable TheoCubs are scuffling.
  8. Congrats, Turbo..25 years is a feat!
  9. All true! Even if this isn't the way some of us would have drawn it up, they're winning! Do I consider it flukey? I do. Are there weaknesses on the team? Yes. But it's a much better place today than 90 miles south, with a team that was expected to dominate for years to come, playing far below expectations. I'm going to enjoy this run, if it lasts until today, or all year. That said-- I wouldn't want a message board to have everybody posting only happy thoughts. But it's a fine day when the Brewers are winning.
  10. Great writing and best wishes with your team this season. For that age group, it's really just about having a good time, learning the game and not overworking pitchers. Hypercompetitive coaches and parents ruin the game for kids. Just try to ignore them.
  11. Target Field was terrific tonight. My only complaint is the pitch of the lower seat bowl. There was a tall dad and mom with their tall adult son in front of me, and the son's head pretty much obscured my view of the home plate circle. I was seated even with the first base bag, very close, and it was a chore to see, thanks to tall kid. There are tons of different food options served from carts on the main concourse. The beer selection seemed not as varied as at Miller Park, and Budweiser is the main supplier. Lots of bars and other gathering places on the upper levels. Fans were well behaved. Several gift shop options throughout the park, but I wasn't able to find my desired Minny & Paul t-shirt. Still, a very beautiful building.
  12. Early observations on Target Field... Traffic around the stadium is tight. It took around 40 minutes to go a little over 5 miles. Lots of people unconcerned with blocking the box, leading to lots of traffic light cycles when just one or two cars could advance. I used Google Navigate to get here, so maybe there are better routes that the locals use. Parking was fast and cheap. $13 in a parking garage around 10 minutes of casual walking away. The park is stunningly beautiful. I'm reminded what no roof looks like. Bright direct and indirect natural light throughout. My Seat Geek ticket went without a hitch. Showed my e-ticket on my phone, and they printed a curly paper stub from their scanner. Their PA announcer must have finished at the top of his class in FM radio DJ school. Very tacky. There are a lot more rows in the field level seating bowl. I like that. The Tony Oliva Cuban sandwich is good. A large paninni sandwich, bag of chips and bottle of soda is $16. Good stuff. We'll see how the game goes...
  13. Hmmm... I think Honky might have been messing with me and I was busy with my food reviews. I usually am not so dense. But I do love that sauce.
  14. I watch about 3 nights per week from about 9:00 to 10:00 p.m.
  15. I ripped the Brewers earlier in the week for being slow. To their credit, tonight was much faster. I went to the burger stand on the Loge level, all the way down the 3rd base line. No lines, no waiting. The food was fine, an AJ Burger--it was already made, in a clamshell box. I got it around 8:00 p.m. tonight.
  16. It's a bar code that they scan off of my phone, not unlike an electronic boarding pass. I also like to get a keepsake from the stadiums I visit, though it has to be useful. Ticket stubs just become clutter for me. So I'm hoping for a Minny & Paul t-shirt.
  17. Yah he was definitely satisfied that Felix gave up 3 runs against an elite line up where as Cravy put up a 4 ER dud in AAA at the same time. Ugh. So no storybook ending for Cravy today. Or for me.
  18. You're kidding, right? Not really. It's a long season and I like drama sometimes. Obviously, I'd like it more if Feliz was dominant, but if he's going to stink, I'm happy for Cravy. Haven't you ever been passed over for a promotion and then smiled to yourself when the new guy falls on his face? That is one of life's great pleasures!
  19. I like this in part because it probably gives Tyler Cravy some satisfaction. I do hope they call him up sometime soon and he is able to stick it to the man.
  20. Wow, that's an interesting case. I guess it boils down to what a season ticket holder's expectations should be as it relates to buying season tickets year after year. And I guess I don't find fault in what the Broncos are doing. They have so many more people who want to buy their tickets than they can sell, that they're willing to boot people who have turned their "place in line" into a profit center. The team did hear appeals and they reversed course on some account holders, so I'll assume that they exercised reason in booting the ones they thought were most egregious. So, I don't really have a problem with it.
  21. I'm going to Target Field next week for my first visit. Rockies vs. Twins Tuesday and Wednesday. Hardly a classic matchup, but both teams have interesting players, so it should be fun. It's also my first time using Seat Geek for tickets. The prices are much lower than the box office, so I thought I'd give it a try.
  22. He should be banished to mop-up duty for awhile and give Knebel the 9th inning. This is Eric Gagne-lite.
  23. The Brewers will always need pitching. They are unable to develop their own draft picks into top tier starters, so flipping a position player should always be an option.
  24. Nobody is overpaid. The Brewers signed those contracts under no duress.
  25. I hope they're just working out the kinks...and others have had no problem, so maybe it's just me. Still, tonight is a VERY light crowd, so you'd think they would be cranking it out. To their credit, the beef tacos were pretty good. And I think the polish sausage is bigger than in the past. I still prefer to eat at the park. I just thought after the big effort that it would be awesome...and it's a little short of that.
