  1. I'm sure that the Brewers would prefer to have a stadium full of Brewers fans. But having a stadium full is still pretty great. I really don't think it's a big deal, or embarrassing, or outrageous that Cubs fans come to Milwaukee to watch their team. Yes, there are some jerks in the crowd, but that's up to Security and the Sherriff's team to handle. When the Cubs stink again, those fans will fade away.
  2. He was the best showman in the wrestling business, bar none. A fantastic heel and antagonist, and by most accounts, a well liked guy. Thanks for all the entertainment, Brain.
  3. This. Garza might be a decent value play for the Brewers next year. But I really dislike watching him pitch.
  4. Scary situation, indeed. Sadly, this kind of thing happens on occasion in youth baseball. A kid gets hit by a liner in the chest, etc. This is the first time that I can remember it happening at the pro level, and with a pitched ball. Prayers to Mendez, for sure. And also to all who witnessed this.
  5. Sooo...not a fan of those 99% OF MY FOLLOWERS WILL HEARTLESSLY SCROLL PAST THIS, BUT I'M SURE YOU WILL CARE ENOUGH TO SHARE posts? Yes! I actually DON'T have to like or share to prove my love of America/Jesus/ the environment/science, etc. Those posts along with the political stuff is just dumb. I have never changed my vote or opinion of a candidate or elected official based on a Facebook post, and yet I am constantly reminded of what side of the issues my friends are on. Yuck.
  6. I'm just about done with Facebook. I've got some friends who pepper it constantly with stupid stuff. Politics, religion, dopey pass alongs...All I really want it for is personal updates from the people I like. Instead, 80 percent of my feed is garbage. Twitter, on the other hand, is pretty great.
  7. Jason Heyward has 6 years and $134.2 million left on his contract. That seems like a lot of Cub fan angst.
  8. What is with that mail lady in the Roman Reigns tv ad where he's playing tea party with his daughter? Why is she checking him out in the window of his house? Mind your own business and deliver the mail!
  9. Bob Uecker is a treasure in every way. We will miss him when he's gone, and I hope that's not for another 25 years.
  10. Great! They should have a museum. The team is nearly 50 years old, and there is a rich history that should be told.
  11. Very sad, indeed. Walton was a promising young outfielder who was considered to have star potential. He had 17 HR and a 117 OPS+ as a 22 year old. Not sure what happened to his stardom, but he never repeated those numbers. Those original Brewers are leaving us too quickly.
  12. Any details on what happened with Tyler Cravy? He pitched tonight.
  13. That one play seemed innocuous, but with his history as a hockey player, he likely had experienced brain trauma (up to and including concussions) in the past. Once you've had one or two, you're more susceptible to future ones. Justin Morneau has had similar problems in the past. It's a real shame, as both guys lost a lot of their careers due to brain trauma.
  14. I have a piece that I bought from Heritage Auctions some years back and out of the blue, I got a series of offers to buy the piece from an anonymous bidder. I wondered if it was someone from the team for a project like this, since the offers were pretty relentless. I finally took the "make an offer" off, as I don't really want to sell. But it was tempting. I still wonder who wanted that jersey so badly.
  15. True. I'm projecting a sadness or reluctance on people who could very well be happy and content in life.
  16. I'm reminnded of the guy who eats a Big Mac every day for lunch and dinner. He seemed rather joyless in this story, though in truth, that could just be my interpretation.
  17. And her "Let's go back" sounds so naughty. Like she's trying to lure him to something purely hedonistic and he's unable to escape the svengali mojo she's working on him. And the stupidity to assume that a couple who won a car at a casino would never again return to the casino until they are reminiscing about having won the car there. Don't you think, having won big, they might become more regular customers than once in their 20s and then only once again in their 60s? It's an outrage!!
  18. Whew! There was some speculation he was coming here. Glad he's not.
  19. I remember driving home (to Brookfield) from UW-Whitewater on a Friday, it must have been game 3 of the ALCS, with the Brewers facing elimination. Listening to the end of the game, when Pete Ladd got the save and the hometown crowd cheering, I was weeping with joy and relief. I didn't get to go to any of the playoff or WS games, but was glued to the tv or radio during that stretch. Hope that Milwaukee gets to experience that again soon.
  20. Lutz homers in his debut. Nice way to start. Make that two. I like him already!
  21. I agree that the toaster's darkness dial is essentially a timer. But I don't think I would correct someone who was doing it wrong. It's their bread to toast however they want. And if they're in line ahead of me, I'm obligated to tap my foot and wait.
  22. I like the move. They needed to give Bandy a chance to regroup in the minors, and the price was right on Vogt. If he stinks after a month or two, there's no harm in dumping him. Vogt has had major league success, and is considered a good guy (Sogard), so he's worth a flier.
  23. I would not speculate on 2017 baseball cards.
  24. I was pretty ho-hum about Arcia's glove early on. He made the routine plays, but I questioned his range. Maybe he hadn't really been tested. But lately, he has been nothing short of amazing. His bat isn't there yet, but his defense reminds me of Rafael Furcal.
  25. This team is really entertaining! So many guys playing better than I expected. With the rest of the division scuffling along, they have a chance. Pitching depth in the rotation and bullpen will be the key.
