  1. That new chick is Marney Gellner. She used to do Madison sports on one of the networks. Maybe Ann was just too flustered with her start in Wisconsin, and Marney (who went up to FSN North (Minnesota)) was more than happy to come back to Wisconsin?
  2. If he's not going to play CF everyday, then do play him where he gained his value in the first place....EVERYWHERE. I'll be fine with this if they actually are admitting to a mistake, or having an open mind about what's what. I just hope this doesn't turn out to be musical chairs in the OF though with Counsell still getting 5 starts a week at 3B.
  3. Yeah, according to rotoworld too. Well, OK fine with batting him down in the order, but RF? Why not 3B? If Hall isn't going to be playing ONE position like it was thought, then let him do what he does best, and that's play everywhere with a big stick.
  4. Well if Bill Hall is too good to bunt in any situation, then Bill Hall is too good to sit out more than a day of rest for this team.
  5. If there's an actual reason behind Hall being out again, then fine. If not, just another puzzling move by Yost. Move him down in the order or something. A day off is fine...three days off (with the day off) in April is ridiculous. I don't care what kind of slump he's in. Isn't he supposed to be one of the best hitters on the team?
  6. I love the show, but it's slowly deteriorating. I mean we wait for the season premiere, and we get an episode full of Janice and not much else? I know, I know, they're setting up storylines and all that, but no Paulie? No Silvio? Two or three seconds of Christopher? Disappointing to say the least.
  7. My beef is with anyone and everyone who labels the Brewers as "up and coming" or "turned the corner" or "good." People around here get so pissed about the national opinion when the Brewers are disrespected, but when they get a little praise, everyone here acts as if the task is complete. I'm talking about "They're on the right track...so everyone that talks bad about them is ignorant" type of attitude. I was at the game today, and let me tell you, it was the same old Brewers. Until they win, they're a bad team, and everyone other than people on this site know it. Sorry for speaking the truth. Potential gets old.
  8. All I know, is the last Styx concert I went to was full to the rafters. Which county fair did you see them at? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif All kidding aside, Dennis DeYoung isn't even with them is he?
  9. What I think is funny is that there are a lot of people who only listen to music on the radio, when essentially all radio does is play what the record companies pay them to play - and of course there's only about three media conglomerates that own all the stations. That doesn't sound like a free market to me. I agree. It's not that popular music is bad because it's popular, it's bad because, well, most of the time, it's plain bad. Do you like Justin Timberlake Al? What about Britney Spears? And besides, Bon Jovi really can't be considered "popular" music anymore can it? I was in 7th grade when "Slippery When Wet" came out and it was absolutely huge, that's where their fame comes from, pretty much that one album. But good musicians? That's a question I'll be happy to answer, but as people have pointed out, to each their own... ...and colbyjack, aren't there scantily clad women at each and every concert during the summer months?
  10. Nice to hear Bill Schroeder say that Gallardo was going to be a reliever in AAA. Glad to know someone so informed is feeding us information. Bill Schroeder sucks.
  11. But would Clark have been dumped if he had any value at his salary whatsoever? Would Burrell have been dumped if the Phillies had more than 5 or 6 teams that they could trade him to?
  12. Well no, of course Sarfate isn't a lock to make the team. Turnbow on the other hand isn't going to be cut along with the money owed to him. Traded for almost nothing? Maybe.
  13. Sure. Villanueva is either in the rotation or in AAA. I'd call that a lock. That leaves 7 pitchers there, all of whom make the team if they do take 12 pitchers. I'd frankly be shocked if they took only 11 pitchers, but if they do and all those players are still healthy/on the roster, Aquino makes the team over Sarfate. The organization and coaches don't seem sold on him. That said, he will make the team because at least one of those guys will be hurt in coming out of the gates. So as the team stands now, Aquino is essentially a lock. That's your opinion Peavey, but that's hardly grounds for "lock to make the team." I'm not saying that he won't make the team, but there's a possibility he won't, and it wouldn't be totally shocking to anyone off brewerfan.net or to many on brewerfan.net. We're talking about Greg Freaking Aquino. If Dennis Sarfate pitches awesome in spring training, they're just going to let him walk huh? Not saying it will happen, but it could.
  14. How about a numbers game Peavey?: F. Cordero D. Turnbow M. Wise B. Shouse J. Capellan C. Villanueva ? D. Sarfate ? G. Aquino ? There's eight pitchers and it's been mentioned by Melvin that they might have to go in the season with only six relievers. You tell me how Greg Aquino is a LOCK to make the team. Sarfate is out of options, and of course Villanueva would probably be the #5 starter, but what if Suppan or someone else is picked up? Every one of those pitchers listed above had better than a 4.47 ERA save Turnbow, and he's not going anywhere if he's not traded due to the money the team will pay him. But unless you're saying keeping Aquino is worth losing Sarfate for nothing, or is viewed as better than Capellan, for the life of me, I can't figure out how he will definitely be a member of the Brewers next year. And that's not even taking the possibility the Brewers might find pick up another reliever or two before the season starts. As far as Taveras goes, just the reported interest by Melvin is both frustrating and puzzling to say the least.
  15. I agree with endaround. Greg Aquino isn't a lock to make the team in my opinion. And unless you really think Claudio Vargas' best year of his career and Doug Davis' worst year since joining the Brewers is the norm, I really can't see where the Brewers improved their pitching as of right now. I think the Brewers took a step down, yes I said a step down, from Davis to Vargas because of the inevitable departure of Davis after 2007. That's all fine and dandy, but that's not improvement.
  16. Well if Podsednik is what the Brewers would get for Jenkins, then they should just keep Jenkins. And I didn't want Roberts either. The fact that Bill Hall is supposedly moving to OF and we're still seeing CF options brought up is downright laughable.
  17. The thing is though, there's not even a possibility that the Brewers are going to sign Craig Wilson until some other dudes are moved.
  18. He could also be the third catcher.
  19. Of course the Brewers don't want Jamie Walker at $11.5 million or Alfonso Soriano for the money he got. That doesn't make us cheap. That's not the problem. The problem is because of those salaries, there aren't any free agents that fit in to the Brewers stratosphere whatsoever. But there can be some trades made. Of course salary would need to be picked up, and of course...gasp...some minor leaguers might have to be dealt.
  20. Yeah, I mean assuming he wants to play in 2009, even if he'd been injured throughout 2007 and 2008, he's still going to get at least $1 million to play in 2009 from someone looking to get a steal.
  21. Does this not make sense to anyone else? Drew opts out of his deal with the Dodgers to sign a deal with less guaranteed? That doesn't seem to be how Boras works, normally. I could be totally wrong here, but wasn't he due $33 million over THREE years? $30 million over two is a much better deal. He can go home and watch TV after two years, and be out $3 million, or more likely he'll sign another 8 figure deal after these two years and be better off.
  22. Actually, I guess he's single. I know that he had a famous beauty as his girlfriend at least when he was with Arizona (?).
  23. OK, but you said you couldn't understand why people wanted to get rid of him. The guy couldn't get anyone out...that's a good reason. He may come back, but he may not. Surely, you can understand how some people can already write him off.
  24. His wife is hot.
  25. I don't understand why people are still down on T-Bow and want to dump him? You're kidding, right? I'm not saying there is absolutely zero chance he'll approach his old form, but I certainly understand why people are down on Turnbow. Dumping him means dumping his salary.
