  1. NFL can still suspend him. Guessing any trade happens after they figure what they want to do. Roethlisberger was suspended and he was never charged.
  2. That looks like a prime "lying season" post to me. I 100% believe the Colts wanted Love in the 2020 draft, tried to move to get him, and were blindsided when the Packers grabbed him. You're probably right.
  3. Former Brewer draft pick, LHP Kodi Medeiros, signs minor league contract with the Angels
  4. Yeah let's leave this thread for transaction rumors....and all things hot tubs.
  5. "For those curious about Jordan Love, the Colts were not fans of his leadership actions entering the draft in 2020." https://www.1075thefan.com/kevins-sports-news/colts/where-will-the-colts-find-their-starting-quarterback-for-2022/ No clue what this is all about.
  6. You would think/hope they'd all be stateside given how quickly spring training is starting after the agreement. I guess the foreign players technically have work visas and given that they were locked out I believe those visas weren't valid since they didn't have jobs (for all intents and purposes). So you are probably right that there will be some delays. I read a blurb about Ranger Suarez having a problem. I am not too familiar with how that all works so someone with more knowledge can chime in.
  7. Man, James Brown Hot Tub was amazing. Petition to rename this thread MLB Hot Tub. Granted
  8. Bears trade Mack to Chargers. 2023 2nd round and 2023 6th round picks in return.
  9. haha yeah its gonna be like setting up a bunch of stock trades at night to execute as soon as the market opens the next day
  10. At the end of the day, it's a two week delay (give or take) and no regular season games lost. If anyone is going to quit watching cuz of that then I am not sure how much they liked baseball.
  11. You would think/hope they'd all be stateside given how quickly spring training is starting after the agreement.
  12. Top free agents include... Carlos Correa Freddie Freeman Trevor Story Kris Bryant Nick Castellanos Kyle Schwarber Carlos Rodon Michael Conforto
  13. Get ready, get set...
  14. "just one more thing..." like I said, the international draft wasn't going to be the final sticking point.
  15. players are voting on current proposal
  16. The league has given the union a 3pm "deadline" so yeah you're probably right.
  17. Whatever...... I've been around long enough to have seen dozens (probably hundreds) of politicians drop the anti-trust exemption threat on the NFL, NBA and MLB and everyone knows that is nothing but poo falling out of their mouths. I can even remember at least one congressional committee being formed (think it was in regards to the NFL), and after the big grand-standing announcement, I don't think the public heard another peep about it. Freedman's tweet seems pretty stupid to me. They will not have an international amateur signing system or draft that is not in the CBA. The old system was in the CBA. If they have a draft it will be in the CBA. If they stick with the old system, that will roll from the old CBA into the new CBA. Does Freedman really believe the owners would try to just implement it without putting it in the CBA? Has there been any suggestion of this from a credible source? The entire concept seems completely ridiculous. Baseball is the only sport with anti-trust exemption "The NBA, NFL and NHL are subject to antitrust laws. The NCAA was informed on Monday in a unanimous 9-0 ruling that it is also subject to Federal antitrust laws. But baseball stands out as the exception. Ever since “Federal Baseball Club of Baltimore, Inc. v. National League of Professional Baseball Clubs” in 1922, baseball has been seen as exempt from many of the provisions of Federal antitrust laws"
  18. I'm most looking forward to the free agent feeding frenzy once this thing is over. Hot stove? More like burning hot lava stove.
  19. They've reached an agreement on Int. draft So I guess we'll see if that was the big hurdle to an agreement. Cynical me says they'll come up with some other reason to keep this from ending.
  20. Another question is why do the owners want it: "The International Draft would give MLB cover from anti-trust lawsuits, because collective bargaining agreements are an exemption from anti-trust law. MLB is desperate to protect its Anti-Trust Exemption and would do anything to keep these lawsuits out of the scrutiny of the courts. By putting an International Draft into the CBA, it gets the cases dismissed before they are addressed on the merits. But, maybe, just maybe Congress will take it away and solve this problem. Just don't count on it to happen."
  21. Non-union international prospects ride buses for meager wages too. An international draft removes their freedom to choose whichever organization offers the most money & replaces it with a forced slotting system, which is why the MLBPA is against it. My point was that for years, the MLBPA has never made improving the quality of life for minor league players much of a priority to them, and now with part of the season at stake this is the hill they want to die on. I never suggested they shouldn't be against it, although a lack of an international draft is clearly harmful to small market organizations like the Brewers. Minor leaguers aren't in the union. That goes back to the anti-trust laws surrounding baseball. The union can negotiate some things tangentially related to minor leaguers (e.g. the draft) but I don't believe they have authority to negotiate for things like pay, living conditions, minor league free agency etc. The minor leaguers would have to create their own union to do that.
  22. 6pm deadline? they couldn't work until 7?
  23. the owners have kinda sorta brought up international draft several times before. not sure why it's all of a sudden a deal breaker.
  24. Chenal did 34 bench reps at UW"s pro day. Yowzer. Dude's a monster.
